Cohen, joins the Majority Report to discuss her new book, Illegal: How America's Lawless Immigration Regime Threatens Us All. In it, Cohen chronicles the past century's history of immigration, white nationalism, and the militarization of the border in the 1980s.

Elizabeth F. Cohen joins the Majority Report to discuss her new book, Illegal: How America's Lawless Immigration Regime Threatens Us All. The Trump administration has intensified the persecution of immigrants to a fever pitch in recent years. In this book, Cohen traces the history of immigration restrictions in the US and the factors driving them, from the Johnson-Reed Act of 1924, to the Hart-Celler Act of 1965, to the War on Drugs, to the post-9/11 era. She ends with some recommendations on how to improve immigration policy.
