1:24

Today, we're going to talk about your goals and we're going to talk about commitments.

1:28

We're going to dive into your relationship with your goals.

1:31

If you listened to my podcast episode last week or the week before that I talked about don't focus on your goals.

1:37

I want to say something first before we go any deeper.

1:40

As I send that podcast episode, I love goals.

1:43

I think goals are amazing. They're a north star of where we're going in our lives, but I do think that if you treat your goals like goals, sometimes just the, the connotation of goal is something that's out of my reach too far away.

1:57

I might never get it. What if we were to stop calling them goals and we were to start calling them commitments.

2:03

Let

2:03

me

2:03

ask

2:03

you

2:03

a

2:05

question. How do you feel differently internally?

2:07

When I say, Hey, this is my goal, versus this is my commitment, right?

2:12

When you think goal, you think, oh, that's out of reach.

2:14

If I'm lucky, if I work really hard, maybe one day I'll get to that goal.

2:18

Versus my commitment is I am absolutely going to hit this goal, right?

2:24

Like you can even still say the word goal, but think about the feeling of goal versus commitment.

2:28

Something that you're committed to. It means no matter what, you're going to get it done, doesn't it.

2:33

So we're going to talk about that relationship that you have, and if you're an achiever out there, I know we've all probably set goals and didn't hit our goals, right?

2:41

And sometimes the reason, actually, a lot of the times, the reason why we don't hit our goals is simply because if I'm being honest, we kind of think they're too far out of reach in the first place.

2:51

And they're like, ah, yeah, a goal is like, it would be nice, but what if we were to stop thinking, it would be nice and thinking it's going to happen no matter what I'm going to make it happen.

3:03

So you may have had this experience where you didn't hit a goal and you lost momentum because you didn't hit that goal.

3:09

And it's like a downward spiral of inaction and lack of commitment where it's like, you know what?

3:14

I wanted to make $5,000 this month in sales commissions, but I only made 3,500.

3:19

And then what happens?

3:21

You're like, oh, I didn't hit my goal last time.

3:23

I'm probably not getting my goal this time.

3:25

If I work, I feel like I worked so hard last month and I didn't get the numbers that I wanted to.

3:29

Why would, why would I want to work really hard again, to not get the numbers that I want to?

3:32

And it becomes this downward spiral where that's the way a goal can be viewed where it's like, I didn't hit my goals, but it's like, Hey, my commitment last month was $5,000.

3:42

I only got to 3,500 this month.

3:46

Do you know what screw it.

3:48

We're going in. I'm going to have to work harder.

3:50

I'm committed to getting to $5,000, whether it's this month, next month, the month after that, I am committed.

3:55

And that's the way that I'm going to view my goals.

3:57

So we're going to take an honest look at how you see your goals today.

4:00

And, you know, do you, do you view your goals as, as something like, oh, it would be nice.

4:05

Ah, yeah, it'd be nice to do this.

4:07

When you set your news, as it's like, it'd be nice to lose 20 pounds or is it like, you know what?

4:13

I'm deciding that I'm going to do everything in my human body, in my body and my mind and my spirit to lose those 20 pounds this year.

4:24

Because the life that I want, the purpose that I want to serve, the purpose person that I want to become, that's required.

4:31

I need to make sure that that happens.

4:32

How do you view your goals?

4:34

Is it like, oh yeah, my new year's resolutions would be nice maybe one day or is it like, you know, what come hell or high water I'm hitting my mother F and goals.

4:45

Do you view them as something that would be nice?

4:48

Or are you deciding this is absolutely what I'm going to do?

4:51

And it all starts with a vision.

4:52

You know, you think about the vision that you have, what is it that you want to do?

4:56

What do you want your life to look like?

4:58

Do you want to get to the end of your life and be like, wow, look at what I have created.

5:03

This is amazing.

5:05

This is beautiful. This is everything I wanted in more.

5:08

Or do you want to get to in your life and go, oh, I wish that I would have brought my full potential out to the world.

5:14

I

5:14

think

5:14

I

5:14

know

5:14

the

5:14

answer

5:14

to

5:17

that. The answer is going to be number one, right?

5:19

But number one, you have to have the mindset of it's going to happen.

5:23

I'm going to make it happen no matter what, I'm going to make sure that this happens, it's going to happen.

5:29

Right? So what is the vision that you have? How do you want to live your life?

5:32

How much money do you want to have?

5:34

What type of relationships do you want to have?

5:36

What type of friendships do you want to have?

5:38

What type of family do you want to have?

5:40

How much happiness do you want to have?

5:42

How much joy, how much peace do you want to have?

5:44

What's the purpose that you want your business to serve.

5:48

And you start thinking about the vision.

5:51

And then from that vision, then you can start pulling out your quote unquote goals and you see your goals and you say, you know what, I'm doing?

5:58

This, this is my commitment.

6:00

I'm committed to making a hundred thousand dollars.

6:02

This year. I'm committed to making $200,000.

6:04

This year. I'm committed to make a million dollars this year, whatever it is that it is.

6:08

That's your number is when you say I'm committed.

6:10

There's a mental massive mental difference between my goal is to make a million dollars this year.

6:16

There's a massive difference between it.

6:18

I'm not going to get to the end this year and not have lost 20 pounds.

6:23

It's not happening.

6:24

It's just not going to happen.

6:26

And you want to know an even better way to make sure that you're motivated.

6:29

Tell one of your friends, your friend, that's the, you know, the, the one friend that's like the friend, that's the most annoying.

6:35

That's always on your ass that, you know, always thinks they're right.

6:38

Tell them that if you don't lose those 20 pounds by December 31st, you know, at the end of this year, I'm going to pay you a thousand bucks.

6:46

Guess what?

6:48

They're going to make sure that they follow up in a summer 31st.

6:51

So if you really want to be committed, put some skin in the game towards your goals, Hey, you know what I'm going to do.

6:56

I'm going to text you four times a week with a picture of me in the gym.

7:00

If I don't text you four times a week, and a picture of me in the gym, I'll pay you a thousand dollars.

7:04

How do you think that changes your commitments, AKA your goals?

7:09

See, it's just a, it's just a mind frame shift.

7:12

It's a paradigm shift of I'm not not going to hit this.

7:16

There is no reality that exists where me hitting my goal.

7:20

Isn't happening.

7:21

That's a commitment.

7:22

And so you have to have an idea of the actual goal that you want to hit.

7:27

And then you have to make sure that you see it as a, as a, as a commitment to you.

7:31

And one of the things that's, that's really good that that really will help you as well as you're setting your goals.

7:36

We used to just all the time when I was a sales manager, people would come in and we would do there must, there should.

7:42

And there could every year, every quarter, every month, every week we would do there must there should.

7:50

And there could the must goal.

7:52

That's the goal that if you get hit by a fricking truck, if shit hits the fan, you're at least 100% going to do this from your current level of growth and your current level of skillset, if nothing changes, this is what you're going to do.

8:08

That's what the must goal is.

8:10

You

8:10

don't

8:10

really

8:10

have

8:10

to

8:10

change

8:10

much

8:10

about

8:10

yourself,

8:10

but

8:10

it

8:10

should

8:10

push

8:10

you

8:10

a

8:10

little

8:17

bit. Cause it's your current level of growth or just current level of skill set.

8:20

You know, if you made 75 grand this year, then your must go might be 85 grand because you now have a year of extra experience in there.

8:28

And you've got the same sales. If your skill set and your level of growth, don't change at all over the year, you must hit that goal.

8:34

If you get hit by a truck, you better hit that goal.

8:36

So you gotta think about it that way. So that's the must goal.

8:39

The should goal.

8:41

This assumes that you're going to continue to grow.

8:44

You're going to continue to expand your level of growth.

8:48

You're going to continue to expand your skillset.

8:50

If you are a salesperson or if you have a company and you have, you know, you do sales for your company or you're training salespeople.

8:57

This is your goal where it's, it's going to require more effort and more intention from you.

9:03

Then what you have been doing, what you have been capable of.

9:07

But you know that you can step up into that role because you have an entire year to hit that number.

9:12

So it's like my should goal is, you know what?

9:14

I made 75 grand last year, my shirt goal, I should make a hundred grand this year.

9:18

I should like, that's just the way that it should be in.

9:22

What would achieving this goal do for you?

9:26

Well, how would, how would you feel about yourself to hit that goal?

9:29

What would this do for your family?

9:31

What would this do for your children, for their education, for their future, for being able to travel with them and take your goals and attach it to other people, not just yourself, because a lot of times what de-motivates people is when their goals are just specifically attached to themselves and not attached to other people.

9:48

But when you see, oh my God, if I make a hundred grand this year, I can put a deposit on a house, move into a better part of town, stop living in an apartment.

9:57

And my children can live in a better part of town, get a better education.

10:00

And if they get a better education, they're more likely to be able to get into a college, to be able to become an incredible entrepreneur because education is obviously the backbone to everything, for whatever somebody wants to do, or they want to work for someone else or run their own company.

10:12

Being educated is important.

10:14

And so I know that if I work my ass off this year, the should go, that I want to get to it's going to change my children's life.

10:20

So now when I get de-motivated because I had a bad sales month, I'm not like, oh man, what was me?

10:26

I had a bad sales month, boop DBU.

10:28

And I get all sad about it's like, Hey, I had a bad sales month.

10:31

I got to get my better, get my ass in gear because my children are depending on me.

12:53

Think about that for a minute. Don't use your children as an excuse, use your children as your why your why you're going to do it.

13:00

So that's your, your should goal.

13:01

I should be able to do this. It's going to push me a little bit, a little bit more than the, the muscle that's for sure.

13:07

And then you have the could goal.

13:09

This is the one that should make you feel really uncomfortable.

13:12

It's the reason why we call it the, should we call it the could goals?

13:16

Cause like I could get to that in order to hit to that hit that you'll need to expand your capacity.

13:22

You'll need to massively expand your skillset.

13:24

You'll need to discipline yourself at a level that feels outside of your comfort zone.

13:29

You're going to have to have standards that have been too low in your past that have to go.

13:36

And you're going to have to set new standards times that you're going to wake up phone calls, that you're going to make doors.

13:41

You're going to knock hours.

13:43

You're going to work. And it's, it's a new level of discipline.

13:47

That's never existed with you before.

13:49

It's a new level of discipline.

13:50

It's a new level of, of action.

13:53

It's a new level of what standards you hold yourself to.

13:57

It's a new level of commitment.

13:59

It's a new level in every single aspect.

14:02

It's literally stepping into a new identity of who you are and you have to realize you can look at that code goal and go, Nope, that's not just my kid goal.

14:14

I'm committed to that.

14:16

So if you made a hundred or you just let's say you made 75 grand this year and you look and you say, I want to make $150,000 this year.

14:21

That's my goal. I definitely could do it.

14:23

Is it going to require a whole, whole other version of me hold other discipline, whole other level of commitment, whole other level of growth, whole other level of developing my skillset to get to that.

14:35

Yes. Could I do it? Absolutely well that I am fucking committed to getting there.

14:39

There's nothing that's going to hold me back from that.

14:41

That's where you really start to see your life change.

14:44

When you look at your code goal and you go, that's my commitment.

14:47

It's going to happen no matter what, no one's going, hold me back.

14:51

Just take a step back for a second and feel into that.

14:54

How do you think that you would go about your life?

14:57

If your goals became commitments?

14:58

If there was no other option, but success, I'm not going to fail.

15:04

Do you want to know why? Because I'm not going to allow myself to fail.

15:07

I failed too many times.

15:08

I deserve to succeed.

15:10

There's so many people that depend on me.

15:11

How would everyone else's life change? If I decided to do this, you have to realize you're you are the captain of your own ship.

15:17

You are.

15:19

There's nobody else. That's running the ship of your life.

15:21

The government, isn't the president.

15:23

Isn't your parents. Aren't your spouse.

15:26

Isn't your children. Aren't there's no one else to blame, but yourself, you're the captain and a great captain always has a destination in mind.

15:33

This is where we're going. This is the timing.

15:35

This is when we're going to be arriving by.

15:37

And they might have a few different ways to get there.

15:40

Some different directions just in case.

15:42

Oh, it looks like we might be heading this direction.

15:43

There might be some, you know, some clouds that pop up and if they do we'll move around them, we might have to move at different speeds and we might have different stops along the way.

15:52

But I got a question for you.

15:54

Look at the direction of your ship right now.

15:56

Where's it heading? Is it heading in a good direction or is it heading a direction where like I'm looking at this and this ship is going directly into a thunderstorm?

16:05

What direction are you taking your ship?

16:08

Your driving that ship.

16:11

Hello? No one else was driving it for you at what speed are you going?

16:14

Where is the next stop? Where's the next stop that you're going to go to?

16:17

Do you have that in mind?

16:19

Do you know what the next checkpoint is for you?

16:21

Maybe you need to stop and get gas to the next island.

16:24

Where is that island?

16:26

Okay. Well that's, that's something that's required to continue on your path.

16:29

Well, if that's what's required of me, then I need to figure out what's the next item I'm going to get to.

16:34

That's a checkpoint on the way to my goal.

16:36

What is the next checkpoint for you?

16:38

Because sometimes when you look too far ahead of, Hey, this is my 10 year goal.

16:42

It seems so far away that sometimes it's de-motivating because it's so far away.

16:46

What's the next stop.

16:47

You have to think about that.

16:49

And then what are you going to get to your destination?

16:51

When are you going to get to your destination? When is it?

16:54

Okay. I want to lose 20 pounds by December 31st.

16:57

Perfect. Now we've got the exact goal and we've got the exact time that you're going to hit that destination.

17:02

See how it's like being the captain of your own ship.

17:04

You have to realize though, you're the freaking captain.

17:07

You're the captain. Let me say this one more time.

17:09

You are the captain of your own ship.

17:12

There is nobody else steering your ship.

17:14

If you're looking at your ship and you're like, this ship sucks.

17:16

Guess what?

17:18

You made that ship.

17:20

You have been creating it your entire life.

17:23

The direction that it's going is completely up to you.

17:27

You can change it at any moment and you have to have this.

17:31

You have to have this unwavering belief that you develop in yourself.

17:36

You might not have it now, but you have to have this no matter what I'm going to create my goals, it's going to happen.

17:43

I don't care what anybody says. I don't care what anybody thinks.

17:45

I don't care what anybody wants to bring up in my life.

17:48

Any of those things, I'm going to get it done no matter what, because how you do one thing is how you do everything.

17:54

So if you're coming up short and your goals, I guarantee you're coming up short in other places in your life.

17:58

You're coming up short and your health and fitness.

18:00

You're coming up short in your relationships.

18:02

You're coming up short in your re you and your finance.

18:05

And you're coming up a little short as a parent, you're coming up a little short in your home life.

18:10

The way you do one thing is the way to everything.

18:13

If you come up short in your goals, you're coming up short in other places, your life as well.

18:16

But if you have a commitment to, I will absolutely hit this goal.

18:21

And you have that mind frame.

18:23

How do you think that changes everything else around you in your life, the commitment to your health and fitness.

18:28

What about your relationships?

18:30

The commitment to succeeding in your relationships because that's one way you do one thing is we do everything.

18:36

The commitment to your finances, how much money you're going to make, how much money you're going to save, how much money you're going to invest, where your money is going to be in 10 years, commitment as a parent, you know what?

18:47

I'm not going to work late. I'm going to show up to Johnny's basketball games, no matter when they are, where they are, that's a commitment versus, oh, I'm going to try to make it, try to make it.

18:56

That's like, I'm going to try to hit my goal.

18:58

That's not the life I want to live.

19:00

That's not the parent that you want to be.

19:02

So

anymore. You're the captain of your own ship.

19:12

If you don't like the direction that the ship is heading, you can change it at any time.

19:16

You're you need to be fully aware of that.

19:18

But the worst thing to do is to try to create an amazing life, to try to be a good parent, to try to make good money, to try to travel the world, to try to be an amazing spouse.

19:32

That's the worst things you can do is to try.

19:34

And that's what I mean by people that say, oh, I, my goal is this.

19:38

And then they forget about their goal in a month or two.

19:40

Your goal is not a commitment.

19:42

If you forget about it in a month or two, that's not a commitment.

19:46

That's like, oh, well, that'd be nice.

19:48

But you know, I'll probably not do that now, because if you do that, that's going to carry over in every aspect of your life.

20:12

You're like, yeah. Ah, well, you know, it looks like my life is going to be pretty much the same in 10 years.

20:17

I don't make any changes. Is that what I want you to look at?

20:21

And you're like, no, it's not okay. Then where do I need to steer to AK?

20:23

What do I need to change about myself in order to change where the direction is going to be in 10 years?

20:30

Because ultimately that is a difference between goals and commitments goals is it would be okay.

20:36

I would like to, that would be nice. Commitment is no way in hell.

I'm going to not hit this goal.

Text me right now 151258093051 skin 15125809305, and I will text you motivational text messages throughout the week. Today, we're gonna talk about your goals and we're gonna talk about commitments. We're gonna dive into your relationship with your goals. If you listen to my podcast episode, a last week or the week before that where I talked about don't focus on your goals. I wanna say something first before we go any deeper. As I said in that podcast of said, I love goals. I think goals are I think goals are amazing. They're a north star of where we're going in our lives. But I do think that if you treat your goals like goals, sometimes just the the connotation of goal is something that's out of my reach. It's too far away. I might never get I might never get it. What if we were to stop calling them goals and we were to start calling them commitments? Let me ask you a question. How do you feel differently internally when I say, hey, this is my goal versus this is my commitment. Right? When you think goal, you think, oh, that's out of reach, if I'm lucky, if I work really hard, maybe one day I'll get to that goal versus my commitment is I am absolutely going to hit this goal. Right? Like, you can even still say the word goal, but think about the feeling of goal versus commitment. Something that you're committed to means no matter what, you're going to get it done. Doesn't it? So we're gonna talk about that relationship that you have. And if you're an achiever out there, I know we've all probably set goals and didn't hit our goal Right? And sometimes the reason actually a lot of the treatment times, the reason why we don't hit our goals is simply because if I'm being honest, we kinda think they're too far out reach in first place. And they're like, yeah. A goal is like it would be nice. But what if we were to stop thinking it would be nice and thinking it's going to happen? No matter what, I'm going to make it happen. So you may have had this experience where you didn't hit a goal and you lost momentum because you didn't hit that goal. And it's like a downward spiral of in action and lack of commitment where it's like, you know what? I wanted to make five thousand dollars this month in sales commissions, but I only made thirty five hundred. And then what happens? You're like, oh, I didn't hit my goal last time. I'm probably not getting my goal this time. If I works, I feel like I worked so hard last month and I didn't get the numbers that I wanted to. Why would but I wanna work really hard again to not get the numbers that I want to. And it becomes this downward spiral where that's the way a goal can be viewed where it's like I didn't hit my goals. But it's like, hey, my commitment last month was five thousand dollars. I only got to thirty five hundred this month. You know what? Screw it. We're going in. I'm gonna have to work harder. I'm committed to getting to five thousand dollars. Whether it's this month, next month, the month after that, I am committed. And that's the way that I'm going to view goals. So we're gonna take an honest look at how you see your goals today. And, you know, do you do you view your goals as as something like, oh, it would be nice. Yeah. It'd be nice to to this. When you set your news resolution, it's like, it'd be nice to lose twenty pounds. Or is it like, you know what? I'm deciding that I'm going to do everything in my human body, in my body, in my mind, in my spirit to lose those twenty pounds this year. Because the life that I want, the purpose that I want to serve, the purpose person that I want to become, that's the life that I want, the purpose that I want to serve, the per person that I want to become, that's required. I need to make sure that that happens. How do you view your goals? Is it like, ah, yeah, my news resolutions would be nice. Maybe one day. Or it's like, you know what? Come hell or high water. I'm hitting my mother effing goals. Do you view them as something that would be nice or you decide writing, this is absolutely what I'm going to do. And it all starts with a vision. You know, you think about the vision that you have. What is it that you wanna do? What do you want your life to look like? Do you wanna get to the end of your life and be like, wow. Look at what I have created. This is amazing. This is This is beautiful. This is everything I wanted and more. Or do you wanna get to end your life and go, I wish that I would have brought my full potential out to the world. I think I know the answer that. The answer is gonna be number one. Right? But number one, you have to have the mindset of it's going to happen. I'm going to make it happen. No matter what, I'm going to make sure that this happens. It's going to happen. Right? So what is the vision that you have? How do you want to live your life? How much money do you wanna have? What type of relationships do you want to have? What type of friendships do you wanna have? What type of family do you wanna have? How much happiness do you wanna have? How much joy how much peace do you want to have? What's the purpose that you want your business to serve? And you start thinking about the vision and then from that vision, then you can start pulling out your quote unquote goals. And you see your goals, you say you know what? I'm doing this. This is my commitment. I'm committed to making a hundred thousand dollars. This this year. I'm committed to making hundred thousand dollars this year. year. I'm committed to make a million dollars this year, whatever it is that it committed to make a million dollars this year. Whatever it is that it is, that your number is, when you say I'm committed, there's a mental massive mental difference between my goal is to make a million dollars this year. There's a massive difference between it. I'm not going to get to the end this year and not have lost twenty pounds. It's not happening. It's just not going to just not going to happen. And you wanna know an even better way to make sure that you're motivated. Tell one of your friends, your friend that's the, you know, the the one friend that's like the friend that's the most annoying, that's always on your ass, that, you know, always thinks they're right. Tell them that if you don't lose those twenty pounds by December thirty first, you know, at the end of this year, I'm gonna pay you thousand bucks Guess what? They're gonna make sure that they follow-up on December thirty first. So if you really want to be committed, put some skin in the game towards your goals. Hey, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna text you four times a week with a picture of me in the gym. If I don't text you four times a week in the picture me in the gym, I'll pay you a thousand dollars. How do you think that changes your commitments, aka your goals? See, it's just a it's just a mind frame shift. It's a paradigm shift of I'm not not going to hit this. There is no reality that exists where me hitting my goal isn't happening. That's a commitment. And so you have to have an idea of the actual goal that you want to hit, and then you have to make sure that you see it as a as as a commitment to you. And one of the things that's that's really good that that really will help you as well. As you're setting your goals, we use this all the time when I was a sales manager. People would come in and we would do their must, there should, and there could. Every year, every quarter, every month, every week. We would do their must, their should, and their could. The must goal, that's the goal that if you get hit by a freaking truck, If shit hits the fan, you're at least one hundred percent going to do this. From your current level of growth, and your current level of skill set. If nothing changes, this is what you're going to do. That's what the must goal is. You don't really have to change much about yourself, but it should push you a little bit because it's your level of growth, which is currently of a skill set. You know, if you made seventy five grand this year, then your must goal might be eighty five grand. Because you now have a year of extra experience in there and you've got the same skills if your skill set in your level of growth don't change it all over the year, you must hit that goal. If you get hit by a truck, you better hit that goal. So you gotta think about it that way. So that's the must goal. The should goal, this assumes that you're gonna continue you to grow, you're gonna continue to expand your level of growth. You're gonna continue to expand your skill set. If you're a salesperson or if you have a company and you have, you know, you do sales for your company or your training salespeople. This is your goal where it's it's gonna require more effort and more intention from you. Than what you have been doing, what you have been capable of, but you know that you can step up into that role because you have an entire year to hit that number. So it's like my should goal is, you know what, I made seventy five grand last year. My should goal, I should make a hundred grand this year. I should. Like, that's just the way that should be. In what would achieving this goal do for you? Well, how would how would you feel about yourself to hit that goal? What would this do for your family? What would this do for your children? For their education? For their future? For being able to travel with them? And take your goals and attach it to other people not just yourself because a lot of times what demotivates people is when their goals are just specifically attached themselves and not attached other people. But when you see, oh my god, if I make a hundred grand this year, I can put a deposit on a house, move into a better part of town, Stop living in an apartment and my children can live in a better part of town, get a better education, and if they get a better education, they're more likely to be able to get into a college, be able to become incredible entrepreneur because education is obviously the backbone of everything for whatever somebody wants to do or they wanna work for someone else or run their own company, being educated is important. And so I know that if I work my ass off this year, the should goal that I wanna get to, it's gonna change my children's life. Now when I get demotivated because I had a bad sales month, I'm not like, oh man, what was me? I had a bad sales month. Boom. Then I get all sad about. It's like, hey, I had a bad sales month. I got to get my better, get my ass in gear because my children are depending on I gotta get my better get my ass in gear because my children are depending on me. Hey, Hey, everybody real real quick. You're why you're going to do it. So that's your your should goal. I should be able to do this. It's gonna push me a little bit a little bit more than the the muscle, that's for sure. And then you have the could goal. This is the one that should make you feel really uncomfortable. It's the reason why we call it the should go we call it the could goals? Cause like I could get to that in order to hit to that hit that you'll need to expand your because like I could get to that. In order to hit to that, hit that, you'll need to expand your capacity you'll need to massively expand your skill set. You'll need to discipline yourself at level that feels outside of your comfort zone. You're gonna have to have standards that have been too low in your your past that have to go. And you're gonna have to set new standards, times that you're gonna wake up, phone calls that you're going to make, doors you're going to knock, hours you're going to work, and it's it's a new level of discipline that's never exist with before. It's a new level of discipline. It's a new level of of action. It's a new level of what standards you hold yourself to. It's a new level of commitment. It's a new level in every single aspect. It's literally stepping into a new identity of who you are. And you have to realize, you can look at that could goal and go, nope, that's not just my could goal. I'm committed to that. So if you made hundred or you let's say you made seventy five grand this year and you look and you say, I wanna make hundred and fifty thousand dollars this year. That's my could goal. definitely could do it. Is it gonna require a whole whole other version of me, whole other discipline, whole other level of commitment, whole other level of growth, whole other level of developing my skill set to get to that? Yes. Could I do it? Absolutely. Well, that I am fucking committed to getting there. There's nothing that's going to hold me back from that. That's where you really start to see your life change. When you look at your code goal and you go, that's my When you look at your could goal and you go, that's my commitment. It. It's going to happen. No matter what, no one's going to hold back. Just take a step back for a second and feel into that. How do you think that you would go about your life if your goals became commitments, if there was no other option but success. I'm not going to fail. Do you want to know Do you wanna know why? Because I'm not going to allow myself to fail. I fail too many times. I deserve to succeed. There's so many people that depend on me. How would everyone else's life change if I decided to do this? You have to realize you're you are the captain of your own ship. You are. There's nobody else. That's running the ship of your that's running the ship of your life. The government isn't, the president isn't, your parents aren't, your spouse, isn't your children, aren't There's no one else to blame it yourself. You are the captain and a great captain always has a destination in mind. This is where we're going. This is the timing. This is when I were going to be arriving. By and they might have a few different ways to get there, some different directions just in case, oh, it looks like we might be heading this direction. There might be some, you know, some clouds that that pop up. And if they do, we'll move around them. We might have to move at different speeds and we might have different stops along the way, but I got a question for you. Look at this direction of your ship right now. Where is it heading? Is it heading in a good direction? Was it heading your direction? Like, I'm looking at this and this ship is going directly into a thunderstorm? What direction are you taking your ship? You're driving that ship. Hello? No one else is driving it for you. At what speed are you going? Where is the next stop? Where's the next stop that you're gonna to? Do you have that in mind? Do you know what the next checkpoint is for you? Maybe you need to stop and get gas in the next island. Where is that island? Okay? Well, that's that's something that's required to continue on your path. Well, if that's what's required of me, then I need to figure out what's the next I'm gonna get to, that's a checkpoint on the way to my goal. What is the next checkpoint for you? Because sometimes when you look too far ahead of, hey, this is my ten year goal. This It seems so far away that sometimes it's demotivating because it's so far away. What's the next stop? You have to think about that. And then when are you gonna get to your destination? When are you gonna get to your when is it? Okay. I wanna lose twenty pounds by December thirty first. Perfect. Now we've got the exact goal and we've got the exact time that you're gonna hit that destination. See how it's like being the captain of the own ship? You have to realize though, you are the freaking captain. You are the captain. Let me say this one more time. You are the captain. Of your own ship. There is nobody else stealing your ship. If you're looking at your ship and you're like, this ship sucks. Guess what? You made that ship. You have been creating it your entire life. The direction that it's going is completely Up to you, you can change it at any moment. And you have to have this you have to have this unwavering belief that you develop in yourself. You might not have it now. But you have to have this no matter what, I'm going to create my goals. It's going to happen. I don't care what anybody says. I don't care what anybody thinks. I don't care what everybody wants to bring up in life. Any of those things, I'm going to get it done no matter what. Because how you do one thing is how you do everything. So if you're coming up short on your goals, I guarantee you're coming up short in other places of your life, you're coming up short in your health fitness. You're coming up short in your relationships. You're coming up short in your in your finance. You're coming up a little short as a parent. You're coming up a little short in your home life. The way you do one thing is the way you do everything. If you come up short, in your goals, you're coming up short another place of your life as well. But if you have a commitment to I will absolutely hit this goal and you have that mind frame, how do you think that changes everything else around you in your life? The commitment to your health and fitness. What about your relationships? The commitment to succeeding in your relationships? Because that's when you when you do one thing because we do everything, the commitment to your finances, how much money you're gonna make, how much money you're gonna save, how much money you're gonna invest, where your money's gonna be in ten years. Commitment is apparent. You know what? I'm not gonna work with late. I'm going to show up to Johnny's basketball games, no matter when they are, where they are, that's a commitment versus, oh, I'm going to try to make it, try to make I'm gonna show up to Johnny's basketball games no matter when they are, where they are. That's a commitment. Versus I'm gonna try to make it. Try to make it. That's like I'm gonna try to hit goal. That's not the life I wanna live. That's not the parent that you wanna be. So start looking at your goals and start making sure that they're decisions. Don't allow yourself to hold yourself back anymore. You're the captain of your own ship. If you don't like the direction that the ship is heading, you can change it at any time. You're you need to be fully aware of that. But the worst thing to do is to try to create an amazing life. To try to be a good parent. To try to make good money. To try to travel a world. To try to be an amazing spouse. That's the worst thing she could do is to try. And that's what I mean by people that say, oh, my goal is this, and then they forget about their goal in a month two. Your goal is not a commitment if you forget about it in a month or two. That's not a commitment. That's like, well, that'd be nice, but, you know, I'll probably not do that. Now, because if you do that, that's gonna carry over in every aspect of life. The way you do one thing is the way you do everything. What is the way that you operate? What is the way that you do those things? Because if you don't like the way that it looks, you can change it any moment. Change the place that you're steering to at any moment. Maybe you look off in ten years and you're like, yeah. Well, you know, it looks like my life is gonna be pretty much the same in ten years if I don't make changes. Is that what I want? You're looking, you're like, no, it's not. Okay. Then where do I need to steer to? AK? What do I need to change about myself in order to change where the direction is going to be in ten years? Because ultimately that is difference between goals and commitments. Goals is it would be okay. I would like to. That would be nice. Commitment is no way in hell, I'm going to not hit this goal. That's what you need to switch your goals to. So that's what I got for you for today's episode.
