NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
On this weeks episode, our Executive Director Kellie Copeland addressed the current protests happening across the nation and our support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
Then, we turn back to the legislature to hear from three members of the Ohio House of Representative and a policy proposal that could be a significant positive gain for pregnant people in Ohio.
Rep. Paula Hicks-Hudson and Rep. Erica Crawley have introduced House Bill 611, which would provide Medicaid coverage for birthing doulas. Doula care is one way to ensure positive birthing outcomes, which is a key step in reducing the state's infant mortality crisis. Ohio's Black infant mortality rate is among the worst in the nation. Discussing the proposal with them is Rep. Kristin Boggs, who also values this proposal to help Black families.
