When I was a kid, I loved to play hide and seek. You would search for the best spot where you could hunker down, feel safe, and not be found. This is exactly what we want you to do in an active shooter event if you cannot Run safely, HIDE. In December, Troy and I broke down how to RUN in an active shooter event. Today we are ready to examine the second part of the RUN HIDE FIGHT mantra, which is HIDE.
Our returning guest is Detective Troy Zeeman who has been in Law Enforcement for over 25 years with many different assignments such as Patrol, Gang Units, and Traffic Investigations. He has been training active shooter response tactics since the Columbine school shooting in 1999. Troy and Shannon, his wife, founded Active Shooter Prep after surviving the Route 91 mass shooting in 2017 with a single mission, to provide knowledge and hope of survival in an active shooter event. They have been training corporations, organizations, small businesses, and individuals all over the United States since 2018 on what to do before, during, and after an active shooter event. Together they wrote “Active Shooter! How To Survive The Most Important 4 Minutes Of Your Life”, where they share their story of surviving the deadliest mass shooting in the United States and the training they created from Troy’s many years of police training and their personal experience.
