If you are living on this earth you DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS EPISODE!  This episode is FREE HIGH EDUCATION from a black woman Doctor with a masters in social work, professor at York University for the past 4 years and former professor at the University of Toronto for 5 years.  Not to mention she has nearly twenty years of community/social work experience that includes mental health counselling/therapy, arts-based education, community-based research, group facilitation and documentary filmmaking working primarily with Black, racialized, immigrant and LGBTQ communities.

In addition to her nearly 20 years of social work practice experience, as a researcher and scholar, MJ’s work focuses on the interlinkages between political ‘voice’ and ‘healing’ from trauma for politically targeted groups.  Specifically, her research is focused on: 1. The perspectives and experiences of Rwandan-Canadian genocide survivors on the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and its impacts on Rwandan-Canadian individuals and communities; 2. Social work with LGBTQ communities; 3. Histories of anti-racist activism and resistance to white nationalism.

In her free time, MJ enjoys vipassana meditation, basketball, reading fiction and creative writing.
