Parents who defaulted on their rent/ mortgage in addition to battered or domestic abused victims are the common beneficiaries of the emergency housing provided by local council. However, homes are limited and can’t cope with surging demand and as such local hotels have been utilized. The sad reality is the increased number of asylum seekers and refugees have put councils on a pedal as they desperately seek sufficient supply of homes to accommodate the increase in demands without ensuring its quality and fit for families.
