In Episode 3 we welcome Abby Mokhtary, RN,  BSN, PHN to the Nightingale Project! She shares stories and insights related to her transition as a new nurse during a pandemic and how she has supported patients through their own life transitions. We also discuss the realities of horizontal violence and how we can radically support one another as nurse colleagues.

Abigail Mokhtary, RN, BSN, PHN is a Home Health and Hospice registered nurse at Catholic Health Initiatives St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Abby graduated from Wartburg College (Waverly, IA) in 2018 with degrees in Spanish and Biology. Before committing to more school, she worked as a substitute teacher, a cross country and track coach, a bartender, and a nurses’ aide. She went on to study nursing at The College of St. Scholastica (St. Cloud, MN) and graduated from their accelerated post-baccalaureate BSN program in December 2020. After passing the boards and becoming a licensed Registered Nurse and Public Health Nurse, she began working in her current position, traveling to peoples' homes within her community and providing skilled nurse services. Her experiences in nursing started early on. Working in long-term care and home care as a nurses’ aide is what brought Abby to the nursing profession. Abby currently lives in Flensburg, MN with her pup Gus and fiancé Rob. Their free time is often consumed with spending time with family, fishing, and finding the next big project.
