Dr. Rebecca Casey is a lecturer and researcher in digital business at Newcastle University Business School, with a background in digital health care. Over the last year she’s taken a specific interested in the Covid-19 app developed by the UK government. She discusses considerations needed when creating such an app, the missed opportunities during development and the importance of working together.

Our second guest is Dr. Karen Elliott, an award-winning academic researcher and senior lecturer in enterprise and innovation, specialising in FinTech. She discusses the value of financial inclusion, technology and trust in the digital economy and what this means. You’ll learn what led to her interest and work in this field as she covers some aspects of her research.

Finally, we speak with Dr. Fiona Whitehurst, a senior lecturer in management as well as the director of impact at the Business School. She speaks about Creative Fuse North East, a creative network which she’s been involved with in the North East since 2014, her role in supporting micro businesses online during the pandemic and how she has helped them cope with a constantly evolving situation, as well as Newcastle Captured – our leadership development programme.
