Are you a course creator and wondering how to become successful in your business? But again, where do you begin from? Wouldn’t it be of great benefit if you had a step-by-step guide that shows you exactly how you can go about from no idea all the way when you finally get paid?

Online course creation is a good way of building passive income. Here, you just frontload your work in the beginning while ensuring that you make some money from your efforts for the period that follows. In fact, now more than ever, the market is juicy and attractive.

There is a lot of content out there that tries to explain how you can go about creating successful online courses. Sadly, a majority of them are complicated and confusing. In fact, some of them are secretive and more concerned about you paying them first. Even after paying them, they won’t provide you with a clear framework on what you can do to realize success.

In this episode, Jeff Long provides an insightful step-by-step guide of the top traits of successful online course creators. Introducing the top 8 traits of successful online course creators:

1. Successful online course creators don’t let fear get in the way. Fear of failure OR fear of success

I’ve had both of those. Do you struggle with one more than the other? But I’ve found that when I push through the fear and find success, I look back with such satisfaction that the process is worth it all. In fact, at times I welcome things into my life that scare me because I know how much success it’s helped build in my life.

While creating an online course, don’t let the fear of success or failure get in your way. You may be scared that people may not like your content or it may turn out to be a success to the extent of overwhelming you. In other times, the sales could be very few to the point of scaring you even more. But to realize success, it’s vital to go step by step by teaching a few people and growing bit by bit. Learn slowly and grow all the way while ensuring that fear doesn’t get in the way.

2. The top course creators prioritize their course because they know spending some time now will help them increase success and decrease time later

If you have an idea, it will be of great importance if you dedicated a significant part of your time now by taking a few hours to create your online course content. If you happen to have a goal of creating a lesson, you will be better off starting small while growing all the way. The goal here is to spend part of your time now since it will be a significant investment for you and a source of investment in the future.

3. Course creators build their audience and influence so they can help more people with their courses

Successful online course creators need to have a huge audience list. With a huge audience list, you will be in a position to listen, get some feedback, customize your content, and sell it more. With an audience, you will be able to connect with more people. But, how do you build your audience? This might includes building their email list, speaking at conferences, being on podcasts and becoming known outside their immediate circles. If this scares you, you might look at improving your public speaking skills, hiring a coach or just taking the time to improve in these areas.  Engage yourself in conferences, building your email list, being on podcasts and attempting to become known outside your immediate circles. Alternatively, go to https://onlinecoursecoach.com/resources/ and check out the 5 simple steps to building an audience for your online course.

4. eCourse creators aren’t too cheap. They view learning as an investment

I struggled with this when I first started my business. And while I’m smart with my money I know when to invest my money to help get me further/faster. What if you could spend a few hundred dollars and have your course created so you can sell it 24/7 and make that money back in the first month? Is that an expense or an investment? While creating your online course, don’t be too cheap. But again, don’t be too overly expensive. When starting out, you will definitely have to spend a few bucks here and there. But you need to know where to invest your money. If you spend your money on important things now, you have a chance of recouping it later. You need to focus on the growth strategies for your online course by spending some money on areas that matter, and this way, you will be creating an investment for yourself.

5. They don’t let technology get in the way. They might hire it out or learn it

Don’t let technology, software or any hurdle get in your way. You can either learn to do it yourself or find someone competent that can do it for you. You’ll never scale your business if YOU do all the work in your business. Technology can be overwhelming. There will be a time where you will find it tasking to undertake some duties that need technological expertise. But to be on the safe side, you shouldn’t let technology, matters to do with software or any other hurdle obstruct you. To avoid this, you can either learn to do something all by yourself or look for a competent person to do the job for you. You won’t be able to scale your online course if all that you do is to undertake all the tasks alone without some help.

6. Top course creators have a marketing system in place to sell their courses

This is one of the top things that separates the top course creators from the others. Do you have a marketing plan in place to build your audience and sell your courses? If not, click the links before this sentence to download my free guides on both topics. It will help you get a plan in place. Having a marketing system in place to sell your online course is an aspect that separates top online course creators from the others.  You need to have a marketing strategy or system to sell your course. Again, go to https://onlinecoursecoach.com/resources/ and learn the 7 ways to market your online course.

7. They have a network of motivated friends to encourage them

Successful online course creators do have in place a network of like-minded friends to motivate and encourage them on what they are doing. For your online course to be a hit, you really need to find a network of friends who not only share the same ideas as yours but also encourage you to go further and realize more success. With such friends, you will be able to build each other all the way. These would include a network of friends whom you can connect with to brainstorm, encourage, and share new ideas.

8. Have a network of other course Creators that will promote or do joint ventures with them

This could be affiliate groups, joint ventures, an online influencer or other people that you can approach to promote your course. You may also be interested in how to sell more courses with successful joint ventures.

There are some people and organizations that have a network of friends that you can approach if the intention is to make your newly created online course turn out to be a success. If anything, you are not the only course creator around. By having a network of other course creators in place, rest assured that you are poised to realize success in your own online course.
