Becca is chatting with Simon Walters today!!

Not many of you will know him, but he is the Head of Department at AUT of Coaching and Health & Physical Education, he has also been doing some really interesting work with youth sports and the impact of specialisation!

Becca and Simon go into depth about the whats and whys and how coaches and parents can support young athletes!

Here were the great stats he mentioned right at the end:

- If your kid is doing more hours of one sport than their age, then they are at risk of an overuse injury.

- If they are doing more than 8 months of one sport throughout a year, then they are at risk of an overuse injury.

- If the ratio of organised sport to free play exceeds 2:1, they’re at risk of overuse injury.
