Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, have a monumental impact on future violence, victimization and perpetration, and long-term health of our kids. They are linked to chronic health issues, mental illness, substance misuse, and educational difficulties. In this episode, Dr. Hess is joined by Dr. Karli Okeson, a board-certified pediatrician specializing in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, who is a passionate advocate for children and is working diligently to keep children safe and heal from trauma. Together we will explain what ACEs actually are, how they affect children, and what can be done to keep kids safe from trauma.
