EPISODE 191

Today I am talking to Sara Whittaker about our podcast predictions for 2024. This is our third podcast prediction episode and we will chat about what we predicted last year for 2023, and if those things came true, and also what we expect out of the podcasting industry in 2024. We’re going to talk about everything from updated stats about podcasting, to AI, YouTube, podcast networks, and really everywhere in between. We discuss the shut down of Google Podcasts and switching to YouTube Music, building community with live-streaming, and utilizing paid podcasting with Patreon and Apple Subscriptions. We also discuss the growth in podcast listeners and new podcasts and how we should be excited for the future of podcasting.

Sara runs a boutique podcast agency that works exclusively with educators. She’s also a coach inside the Podcast Manager Program and so she’ll be speaking from the podcasters perspective, and I will speak from the podcast managers perspective. This is a really great conversation and I can’t wait for you to listen.

In this episode, we cover:

-Updates in podcasting and how last year’s predictions panned out including hosting platforms Libsyn, Captivate, and Buzzsprout

-Google Podcasts shutting down and the transition to YouTube Music and RSS Feed

-Searchability for podcast suggestions and specific podcasts and episodes on podcast platforms

-Podcast stats update including increase in shows and listeners. Also graphs, reports, and links

-Where to place a call to action in each episode, and in show notes

-Common podcast listening habits and scheduling your episode drops

-Live podcasting including in person events and live streaming and building community

-Video podcasts and shorts on YouTube and how to optimize your client’s content

-Defining and navigating podcast networks with your clients

-My predictions for paid podcasting including bonus episodes, no-ad content, and resources with Patreon, Apple Subscriptions

-Consumer behavior changes this year and how it plays into podcasting
