Hey everyone, this is Dhruvin and in today's podcast we will be talking about what is reporting Power BI, a Power BI report is a combination of pages and visualization. Visualization are either the out of the box visualization or the custom visualization. We can add line, area ,map, KPI, gauge, tree map. Lots of out of the box visualization in Power BI desktop file and prepare some out of the box. Beautiful visualization for our clients.

Now let's talk about the report development process. The very first step that we need to perform in order to develop the Power BI report is that we need to connect the data sources. Data sources can be anything at this moment, so many out of the box connectors are supported in order to develop the Power BI report. Like let me talk about some out of the box connectors. so let's say Excel connector, SharePoint Connector, SQL Server connector, SSAS connector. So many connectors are available. With that we can also connect some social media connectors as well, like LinkedIn Connector, Facebook connector, Blogger connector, etc. Now once we connect our data source.

Then the next step is that we need to perform some ETL processes.

And then once we done with the ETL process, we need to place the visualization and drag and drop our fields within that. Once we develop our visualization, we need to publish our report to Power BI service. Power BI Services, a place from where other users can access your report.

So the first step is that we need to publish the report once we publish the report, we need to open our power base service account and go to the report section under report section. We would be able to see our published report.

In published report there are two types of mode available. One is reading mode and one is editing mode. If you have access for editing the report, you can edit the same Power BI report from the service as well. But if you only have an access in order to view the report then you will not be able to edit your report.

So everyone with an admin member or contributor role can edit the report.

They have access to all the exploring, designing, building and sharing capability of the editing view for that report. If we have shared the report with someone using the email address, then only they can view the report. They cannot edit the report so they can view only report in the reading view. So this is the overall idea.

About report and report development process in power BI. See you in the next podcast.
