From the I Art Media Studios in Saint Louis Park. It's the Power Trip

0:05

after party with Corey Cove. That's it, paused what Zack and musical guest

0:13

Chris Hockey play some music? Zach Calvin, now here's Corey. You think

0:20

you would like to be Don Pardo or now um Daryl Hammond and be the

0:25

voice of Saturday Night Live? Yeah, it probably pays well on its minimal

0:31

effort. That's a good question. I wonder what Daryl Hammond makes a year

0:34

for being the voice of Saturday Night Live. I bet, I bet he

0:40

gets some residuals from all the rebroadcasts too. I wonder, Yeah, yeah,

0:44

man a bag yeg I bet, And I think he does a fine

0:48

job at man SNL with Don Parlo back in the musical Guess it was so

0:53

like dramatic, it over the top. It was cartoonish. Yeah, I

0:56

think it was. Did I hear Jimmy fallon somebody on a podcast in the

0:59

last couple of weeks say that that was absolutely his voice. That wasn't um

1:06

exaggerated for TV. Like if you ran him into into him in the hallway,

1:10

he'd be like, how is your day? Like that's just how he

1:12

talked, which is crazy because it sounded like he was doing a bit just

1:18

to make a living. But I guess that's just who he was. It's

1:22

a little bit like common. Right. People ask if commons like that twenty four hours a day, and we go, yeah, that's how he talks

1:26

all day long. And I guess don Pardo was the same way. And

1:32

that was the end parts story, good old Donnie p Yeah, that that

1:38

had to be. That has to be one of the better jobs, right,

1:40

I mean, yeah, that of the movie trailer guy that's got to

1:45

pay. Well done. Lafontein anything is that his name? I think so?

1:49

In a world, I think he's dead. I don't know. But

1:52

again, if if he does die, then Pablo Francisco's into takeover for him.

1:57

His movie trailer bit is is a elite comedy. I think he is

2:02

dead, by the way, who is in a world? Yeah, but

2:07

it can take that light rail. It's dead now, not anymore. Yeah,

2:15

you guys think it's gonna work. I heard Common and Rosie and tend to be arguing about it. You guys think that a couple hundred million dollars

2:22

rail from Minneapolis to lu stops in what Coon Rapids Hinckley and Elk River and

2:28

Elk River. Yeah, especially for um, if you're a student coming down

2:32

from you know, to come home from Umb or something like that. Yeah,

2:36

i'd be sweet. Yeah, deluse sweet. It's pretty sweet. Yeah.

2:38

I don't know. I don't know if there's enough call for it or

2:42

not. But uh, I guess we're going to find out more trains the

2:45

better, right, I guess. Yeah? And I heard the comeback obviously

2:50

that What about all the people from Duluth that wanted to visit the cities but

2:53

don't want to drive or can't afford to drive. I get it. I

2:58

think you worked great. It's interesting all right if you drive, If you

3:00

take the train to Duluth and then don't have a car, you either have

3:07

to walk everywhere or uber. So it's like, how much money are you

3:09

saving? Right in the ticket prices sound like they're gonna be not super cheap.

3:14

At thirty five bucks away or thirty five dollars sorry, thirty five dollars

3:17

per person, that's pretty inexpensive. Yeah, but if if you figure how

3:22

much gas costs, it's cheaper to drive. Yeah. Really, family,

3:30

family, Let's let's say you're taking your family though, Right, if you

3:35

go by yourself, it's probably close. But if you go with a family,

3:38

it's one hundred and fifty bucks when I tank of gas would cost you

3:42

less. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah you can get smashed. Yeah,

3:47

you get smashed in the way off your car. But I guess yourself.

3:52

You just play it at my winner, But whatever, you know, people, we've got a casino stop. Yeah, I just wonder where,

3:57

Like I haven't seen the actual layout. I've just seen it stops in coun

4:00

Rapids, it stops in Hinkley, it stops in Duluth. Is it is

4:02

it gonna drop you right off in Canal Park? Or like where in Duluth

4:06

are they dropping you off? Because that's how far am I walking to get

4:10

to down down Duluth, n down down Duluth. Saying about Duluth, I

4:15

wouldn't doubt that they haven't even figured that out yet. If the UM,

4:19

if the trains ran like at night, like all night or whatever something like

4:23

that, there's a late UM leaving train, going to a concert at Bayfront

4:26

would be perfect. Yeah, good point. Yeah, get smashing chunk out

4:30

on the way back. Yeah, two hours of sober up or just a Friday night, just you know, get up there, going get hammered in

4:36

Canal Park there, you know canal with the Canal Park. Yeah, why

4:40

do you keep saying Canal Park? Sweet? It is the best expencive is

4:44

hell though. Yeah, we'll be there in the summer month and a half for what airshow? Yeah, we're all going. Oh that's right, yeah,

4:50

no going. Well, that's good. I like when you guys go

4:54

now good trying to get there up there in a couple of weeks, but

4:58

as you mentioned, it's it's tronomical. I might just sleep in my car.

5:02

That would be good for you and jel not richer. Yeah, yeah,

5:06

it's better for the rains. Sleep face down, ass up. If

5:11

you're tired enough, you sleep anywhere, right, he sleeps in this car

5:15

here. Yeah, you can get a pillow ye and lay down, go

5:18

sleepy town. Yeah, like the time Hawk and I slept in the Dragon

5:24

Wagon and Hawk was on TikTok or whatever and said goodbye to everybody before we

5:28

went to bed. An hour later, we both got up and went back to the show. Yeah, that's right. You find sleeping in your car

5:32

though, disorienting because the only reason I bring that up is I haven't really

5:35

done that since I was nineteen when I commuted to the U the first year.

5:40

My buddy Chad, not your friend Chad. It's a different guy.

5:42

The timeline doesn't work out. But so if he still had class and I

5:48

was done, sometimes I had just kind of sit in the car and hang

5:50

out for a couple of hours. It's actually part of the reason why I

5:53

started falling in love with this station, to be honest with you. Um,

5:57

but if I napped for an hour, hour and a half and I woke up in my car, I always freaked out. It. I always

6:01

felt super disoriented. I didn't know where I was. There was that ten

6:05

seconds of like, what the fuck We're where? Am I holing? Have

6:08

I've been here? Am I supposed to be asleep? I never woke up

6:12

feeling rusted because I always panicked. Yeah, you don't get that even in

6:15

the morning if you're no, I don't. I don't think I, I you know, sleep that deeply, you know what I mean? But like

6:20

when you do the Vikes games. Yeah, Like let's say you do Green

6:25

Bay on a Sunday night and you get back here, like two, where

6:27

do you go? You come here or go home. Uh. Most of

6:30

time I come here and then sleep somewhere in the ear. Yeah. Sometimes

6:33

I sleep in that couch in there, um, but most time I sleep

6:36

in the car. Yeah. Yeah, it's just I'm proud. I just

6:46

reclined a little bit. Yeah. There's a phenomenon called latch key and continents.

6:49

Did you read this morning, Cory, No, latch key and continence,

6:54

which describes the feeling you get when you have to pee, and it

6:56

gets worse and worse the closer you get to the toilet. You guys,

6:58

ever, like, um, pull down your pants or take off your clothes

7:01

to get in a shower something like that. Almost pissed all over the place

7:04

as as soon as your pants are down. Yeah, yeah, I get

7:11

the first p in the morning where if you once you once, your brain

7:16

knows I'm in the bathroom and it's go time. Maybe that's exactly what you're

7:18

talking about, where if you don't pee in the next ten seconds, it's

7:24

gonna be the most painful holding in of all times. Were during the day

7:28

you can hold it for I don't know, I could hold it for an

7:30

hour or two, Like if I'm in a spot that's nowhere near a bathroom. That first one in the morning. It's like, if you're fucking around

7:36

here, I'm gonna make you suffer. Yeah. Yeah, first one's the

7:40

worst one. Yeah. Yeah. It stings. And I'm at forty three.

7:45

Now I'm starting to a couple of times a night I gotta get up

7:48

to pa. And that's never happened to me in my life. Yeah,

7:50

man, And now it's like, not every night, but once in a

7:54

while it's like, God, damn it, I can't sleep three more hours.

7:56

I gotta get up and take care of this. Wait and see, you're gonna be sitting down to pretty You still do that? Well, yeah,

8:01

because I don't want to piss on the floe. Yeah, um right.

8:05

Most popular road trip snacks he s n a c ks. That's right,

8:11

chips, followed by chocolate, followed by cookies, followed by nets or

8:16

seed, followed by candy, and then fruit. Some weirdo put fruit in

8:20

there. Fruit on a road trip. The last part of a road trip

8:24

is stopping at a gas station and just loading it. Just random ship you

8:28

would never get it, yeah, just stuff you would never eat normally.

8:31

You just grab, yeah, like a truck store, truck stop hooker.

8:35

Yeah, yeah, normally you wouldn't do that, but hey, you know what, I'm on the road, get a long way to go, No

8:39

way, it's banging in? What what? What a fucking home run?

8:46

You said? Coming to uh the Mystic Shell Room on September four, three

8:56

eleven with opener a wall ny shock about that home run? God, that's

9:01

gonna be bad ass, man, that's pretty good. Also, they're bringing

9:05

Chaville too. Did you guys see that in three days? Are? Yeah? How about that? Three eleven and a Wall Nation well Erican Dreams show

9:11

for me? September one game Repember twenty four. There's a Vikings game that

9:20

uh Sunday, it is a Sunday. There's a Vikings game noon start?

9:26

Yeah, man, sorry bad ass? Actually what what about him? So?

9:33

Yeah, no, it should be a fun show. They're bringing the

9:35

Rock acts, man, the Rock the Rock Acts. Oh, I was

9:39

like, the Rocks gonna be there? Is he singing songs? H?

9:43

I didn't know he went anywhere? Yeah, yeah, that's fun show.

9:48

I heard. I heard three eleven was supposed to be at a different place

9:50

this summer. I wonder what what changed? That's not a thing anymore.

9:54

It is a bidding war, like crazy brilliant. Oh. I heard they were slated to be at the Ledge again and I was super pumped about that

10:00

because that place kicks ass. Yeah yeah, I wonder why they ended up

10:03

there. I think you started that. Yeah, I think I heard it

10:07

from a really good source, really good source. But I wonder what changed.

10:13

I gotta add that bus show Bush, No, the buzz show.

10:18

It's the buzz It's it's where you it's right before you go to the military.

10:20

You just all get haircuts. That's buzz Year. Yes, it's his

10:26

origin story. By the way, light Year. That's a one time one

10:30

terrible. No, it's just not fun. But it's not it's not like

10:33

picks are fun. It's just kind of dark. And Kelly and I are

10:37

taking my sister to a Little Mermaid on Sunday, yeah, you know,

10:41

and she's forever four yea, um, she's nervous quote unquote that it's scary.

10:46

It's the same as the cartoon, all right, and we're getting large

10:52

Yeah right you are. Yeah, so yeah, we're going to that. I'm excited for it, but it's you just said it was okay, it

11:00

just uh yeah, I thought it was Okay, it's um like Halle Berry,

11:05

Hallie Bailey, I too. Hallie Bailey is fine. Uh, Melissa

11:11

McCarthy's fine, Javier Bardem's fine. I think all the acting is fine.

11:16

It's just I really, I don't know. I struggled with this one more

11:18

than some of the other live action ones that I just was bored knowing what

11:22

the next scene was. I just never got excited for the rest of the

11:26

movie because I'm like, Okay, yep, she's gonna give away your voice

11:28

and she's gonna go online, and it's like, I've seen that movie a

11:31

thousand times, so I just had a hard time having fun with it for

11:33

the thousandth and first time. So I thought it was very average. People

11:39

like it, Yeah, I like the original better than this one, But

11:43

you won't you. I don't think you're gonna dislike it. I just thought

11:46

it was fine. But the nine year old freaking loved it. I think

11:50

I have to go see it again in a week or two because she wants to see it because she couldn't stop raven about I still haven't seen the Mario

11:54

movie either, and I don't want to pay. I think it's thirty dollars

12:00

on peacock or something, a peacock guy. But yeah, you saw that,

12:05

right, Yeah, it was fine. I gotta go in a minute

12:07

because I got a client coming in. You guys have to finish without me. But Paul Gimati birthday to day man sixty five. He's fifty six actually,

12:15

But when you think of Paul Giamatti, what do you think of?

12:20

Yeah, he's kind of I think I would say billions first now for me,

12:24

just because I've watched him do that so much the last four or five

12:28

years or whatever it is. But yeah, part of me is always going

12:30

to think that he's pig vomit. You remember when they tried to make him was it the rhino at the end of one of the is that Spider Man?

12:39

I have no idea what Amazing Spider Man two? Yeah, he was

12:43

the bad guy at the end of The Amazing Spider Man two And then that

12:48

was it. Wow, Like it just didn't work, And it was supposed

12:52

to be like this kind of cliffhanger, like what is this? Who is

12:56

he doing? And everybody just, I think universally said we don't really care

13:00

about that, Please don't do that again. So then they didn't bring him

13:03

back. I don't think they ever brought him the real pig vomit if you

13:05

met him, never did, Okay, but he used to program cool when

13:07

a wait, who is its real? Doug Westerman. It'll come back to

13:11

me, Doug Westerman Rabbit. Ye, I bet when I watched Rabbit back

13:16

to me? But yeah, he worked at cooling Away for the longest time.

13:20

Really yeah, I forget the guy's name. I was almost there and

13:24

then was gone again. Anyway, I got to this, uh this client

13:28

thing, a client pat Here's got a story about a Pete Holmes comedian comedy

13:33

show. Here, who's Pete Holmes's hilarious? Yeah, it's great, great,

13:35

And he had a great television show for a while with Judd Apatow.

13:39

I forget what the show was called. Um not, it's like bombing something

13:43

like that, though. What was it called crashing crashing Crashing? Yeah,

13:46

I think something like that. I think it was called great show Man A

13:50

couple of really very funny He saw him record a Netflix special this weekend.

13:54

So ho hi ba hello, um so yeah that was um a very cool

14:03

experience. Um and his opener um have you ever seen like the college humor?

14:09

Like Jagging's video like don't wear jeggings that sort of thing. No,

14:13

Um, that was his opener. Okay, I couldn't I couldn't tell you

14:16

where it was it Varsity Varsity. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's super

14:18

funny. I've seen him he I think we've played him before the show a

14:22

couple of times. Yeah, he's got some really good bits. Ye,

14:26

but um, yeah, it was. It was really cool to like he restarting jokes from time to time, um, which is obviously you would never

14:33

do. And yeah, if you weren't recording it, but you know,

14:37

like stumble up on s like I didn't like that or um, it was

14:41

you know funny. All of a sudden you'd hear like, uh, Pete, could you wipe some of the sweat off? Like oh really, and

14:48

like open thanks God, you know, things like that. You know,

14:50

he dabbs some stuff up. Um. The they they had turned the HVAC

14:56

off because, um this they didn't want the fan getting getting brought in.

15:01

Yeah, and part way, you know, part way through the show,

15:03

he's like Jesus Christ, it is hot in here, like you know,

15:07

and it it you could feel the blanket kind of roll over. So that's

15:11

weird. I've been to a couple of stand up comedians special tapings, but

15:16

everyone I've ever been a part of is when they were going to film two

15:20

or three nights and then compile the best of right, just because, like

15:24

you said, if a joke, if he stumbles, or if it doesn't

15:26

work as much as it worked on a different night, you just kind of

15:30

do a highlight reel. Got to wear the same outfit every night, of

15:33

course or whatever to make it look like it's got continuity. But I've seen

15:37

that, right, or even in the same night, right the seven o'clock show, in the nine o'clock show, they're taping for both, and then

15:41

they put him together. I didn't know that it was kind of a one

15:45

time shot like this. He did do two two shows the same night.

15:48

Yep, two shows the same night, and that was the but they wanted

15:52

to nail both of them, so then like he restarted, but it kind

15:56

of you could feel the punch being taken out of the room because he'd repeat

16:00

a part of the joke that wouldn't get as much laugh to it. Then

16:03

the punchline would follow in a huge roar. Things like that, and then

16:08

the other thing with the second half or the second show, was there was

16:11

the potential to be more jokes and for it to be longer, maybe some

16:15

crowd work, because he didn't have to like, hey, I need to

16:18

make a set, I need to make a show after this sort of thing.

16:22

And in that sense, and I guess I was told they think that

16:26

they're going to use the second show because it he was a little more comfortable

16:30

with it. You know, is his couple of jokes that maybe he screwed

16:33

up the first time, he didn't um the second time around um. And

16:37

I guess a beer can got thrown during the opener of the second show.

16:42

He was making some uh the opener was making a joke referring to to gay

16:48

people, not as a bigotry joke, but like just referring to gay people,

16:52

and a woman stood up started saying bigotry things, and a guy hucked

16:57

a beer can, and I guess hit her. She's like to shut her

17:02

up sort of thing. I don't I don't know why. It just when

17:04

you guys were talking about sy this morning, with people having this uncontrollable thought

17:11

process that they can do whatever they want. I just I personally would never

17:15

think I'm just gonna stand up and start screaming things. But everybody thinks their

17:21

opinion matters now, and everybody thinks their opinion has to be heard twenty four

17:25

hours a day. We saw Rosie correct Rosie. My dad and I went

17:29

and saw Swartz in a Mystic in the Mystic showroom. It was fucking sweet.

17:33

We had great seats because of Nick. But there was a woman and

17:36

her boyfriend behind us where like, this is not what he'd say, but

17:40

he'd be like, uh, you know, board games, and she'd be like, oh, board games, board games, and then she would like

17:45

he'd come up with another punchline and she would just go, ha, I

17:49

get that the whole time, the whole fucking time. Just shut up.

17:56

Go ahead. We have some pretty major breaking news here on the sports world.

18:02

The PGA Tour has agreed to merge with Saudi backed rival Live Golf,

18:06

and a deal that would see the competitors squash pending litigation and move forward as

18:11

a larger golf enterprise. The unities sign an agreement that would combine the PGA

18:17

Tour and Live Golf's commercial businesses and rights, and we knew yet to be

18:21

named for profit company, The agreement includes DP World Tour also known as the

18:26

European PGA Tour, of course, Live Golf, backed by the Saudi Arabia

18:30

Public Investment Fund and entity controlled by the Saudi Crown Prince and has been embroiled

18:36

in antitrust lawsuits with the PGA Tour in the last year. The deal announced

18:41

Tuesday would end all pending litigation. PAF is prepared to invest billions of new

18:48

capital into the new entity. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Solved

18:53

from the from CNBC. As part of the agreement, the three groups will

18:57

establish a fair an objective process for any players who want to reapply for membership

19:03

with the PGA Tour or DP World Tour following the end of the twenty twenty

19:08

three season. Deale course comes after it. Live golfer brooks Kepka won the

19:15

PGA Championship recently, breaking news on a podcast that'll work. Yeah, well,

19:21

fascinating that is. M sure we'll talk about that tomorrow. Wow,

19:26

A lot of reaction. That's a big deal. A lot of people go

19:30

on, you know, some so many questions. The answer to all of

19:33

them right now has no idea yet, and it just seems like everybody is

19:41

pretty pretty shocked. So well, there's part of tomorrow show. All right,

19:51

more breaking news, Halloween Night, yep in at the X, Tool,

20:00

Halloween Nights, Halloween Nights. Damn it, you can go. I

20:04

got a nine year old, so you can't miss Halloween Bringer. Yeah.

20:11

What night of the week? Is it? A Tuesday? Sucks? I

20:17

don't want to go. Fuck, that's too late. You have no excuse.

20:22

I'll be I get back from Vegas that day. I'll be too fucking

20:26

tired. That's a shit excuse. No, I wouldn't go any You love

20:29

Tool, yeah, sauce, No, oh, yeah, you hate Tool.

20:34

One of the best live shows I've ever seen all the time. Have

20:37

you seen them? Pat, They're phenomenal, incredible and the late bloomers of

20:41

the Tools. Yea experienced. Yeah, I'm not totally you get it.

20:49

You get it if you win, I get part of I saw him,

20:52

I mean I saw him live at Is Maynard does a perfect circle as well.

20:57

Right, do you hate Bruce Springsteen and you went, which is why

21:03

I love that. I'm not a perfect circle fan like sixth grade. I

21:10

saw good Yeah, because they did a Northern invasion up in the summerset with

21:15

your dad and they did a perfect circle Saturday tool Sunday, and I,

21:19

uh, like I said, I mean, I don't I don't blame you.

21:22

I know it's it's it sounds cool, and I'm sure when that came

21:26

out that was like amazing. But growing up on other radio stations here in

21:32

the market, who wouldn't stop playing it? It's it's the best. But

21:37

I I, yeah, there's plenty of bands like that that I fucking can't

21:41

stand that everybody loved such as I can't go into it. Well, you
