0:34
at poker against your buddy. Are you any good at poker? By the
0:36
way, Eric s Dalehansky, I love it. I'm not bad. Yeah
0:42
that's kind of Corey as well. He loves it, but he's not bad.
0:45
Can you get me into some big Hollywood game with Hollywood money? Sure?
0:50
You want to play with like Toby McGuire and Leo DiCaprio. You have
0:54
access to that game, Molly's Game. Sure, Oh, Molly's Game.
0:58
Man, what a movie game. That's a great I did like that movie
1:00
had no idea how that it was based on true story? It is?
1:03
Right? Yes, yeah, yeah, that's I was hoping after I said
1:06
that, of course, I said, Scott WiLAN ran the marathon backwards a more story. Do you know what I'm I'm I'm having one of those days,
1:11
Eric Slhanski. But I will say this, man, I'm so excited
1:15
to see your film. And well, I don't know if we're allowed to
1:18
like how much of it we're allowed to break down if the trailer has been released yet? Are we allowed to release the trailer in any of that jazz?
1:23
But um, Quasi looks Quasi looks hilarious. Man, thanks man.
1:26
Yeah, we've done a five, We've done a bunch of screens. We
1:30
did like a little of what we called it, Quasi Cella, toured around
1:34
the country a little bit DIF some screening, so it's out there. Yeah.
1:38
Uh, we watched the trailer as well. And when I say we,
1:41
I mean Corey and I. But uh, the one thing that sticks out, and there are a couple of comments on YouTube about it is how
1:47
very Monty Python like it is and how much Life of Brian it's like.
1:52
It's the trailer is very good and I love the I would say homage to
1:57
Monty Python if that's what you were going for Oh yeah, one hundred percent.
2:00
I always say I'm nervous about the comparison because those guys are geniuses,
2:05
you know, yeah, like they're the Holy Grail and it was our tip
2:10
of the hat because we were just so influenced them by them growing up and
2:14
obviously wanted to be them. But I get nervous in comparison because they're so
2:17
damn good. What's your favorite Monty Python film? Oh? Man, I
2:22
think Life of Brian, But I mean, Grail and Brian to me are so good. Yeah, like they're perfect. I mean they're great comedies.
2:29
Life of Brian it's a perfect film. You are correct, Yeah, it's great. So I have a bunch of questions because this is an interesting thing
2:36
that it's a movie. First of all, it's going to be on Hulu, right, Does anything change for you guys when you're making a film for
2:43
a streaming service as opposed to the big screen or or why are you making
2:46
a movie for both? If you know what I mean? Yeah, you
2:49
know, we made the deal during the pandemic and nobody's feats for even coming
2:53
back, so we thought, well, what kind of movie could we make
2:58
for streaming? You know, I feel like extreamly kind of gives you a
3:00
little more options, Like this is a it's a kind of off brand for
3:05
us, you know, it's kind of a stretch. You know. It's like, could we try to make one of these Monty Python movies? And
3:08
streaming kind of allows you to do that. And that's kind of why I
3:13
felt like Searchlight took a chance on us to make this film because it could
3:17
go to something like Hulu where it is. Yeah, Eric, we've been
3:22
begging to be extras in your films for years or major stars. When you
3:27
when you come up with the idea for quasi motto, when you're calling a
3:30
quasi, how do you not let Sauce be the star? I love you
3:38
guys. I wanted you guys to be in it so badly, But it
3:42
was COVID lockdown like the whole time, like, oh my god, to
3:44
look because we had talked about it on there so many times about like just being in it somehow, and uh, we weren't like we had to every
3:51
day show up a new COVID testing and as actors we had to be on
3:54
one side the cruise on one side. Um, so we weren't allowed to
3:58
ever bringing in anyone from now wow. So we that's even partially why we
4:02
played multiple parts, Like we played all the parts of this movie just to
4:08
be able to contain it. And they actually try to shoot something during COVID.
4:11
So who do you play? I play cardinal clout to play a cardinal.
4:15
We kind of play upstairs downstairs characters, like one character's royalty, one
4:18
character is a peasant, and one character I play as the cardinals assistant assistant
4:24
to the Pope. And then my kind of bigger part is called Michelle.
4:28
I work in a torture chamber because I need to make some extra money to
4:31
go to culinary school. Brilliant. And then I kind of like the third
4:40
guy that teaches Klaus and Duchamp about the true meaning of friendship. So when
4:45
you have it's a broad man, it does sound like it. When you
4:48
guys have this many people involved in the making of a film. Are all
4:51
of you involved in the writing of the film as well? And how in
4:55
the hell did you do that during the pandemic? Yeah? Well, interestly
4:58
thinking about this was we wrote this back around when we first wrote Super Triperte.
5:01
We wrote this back in like mid nineties. We were a sketch comedy
5:05
group on stage. We had read a bunch of sketches, I mean scripts,
5:11
and uh yeah, we wrote this like twenty years ago, so we
5:13
kind of duffed it off. Every a couple years, we kind of dusted
5:15
it off and refresh it. We had I wish you guys could do if
5:18
we had written a joke about remember the song Don't Pay the Ferryman by Christ
5:23
Burke. Sure, yeah, you guys the only ones that did, because
5:27
we wrote a whole scene based around it, and then we tested it and
5:30
nobody laughed because nobody knew what the song was. We even threw this song
5:34
in the fun end credits to try to remind people, but nobody remembered it,
5:38
so we cut it, cut the scene, cut the song, put
5:41
credit Evan Fleet in there. Yeah and so so yeah, we wrote a
5:46
long time ago, so we actually didn't write during COVID, but a long time ago. We dusted it off and we made it during COVID. And
5:50
how do you how do so many people work on one script? Yeah,
5:56
we've been doing it for so long. You know, it's kind of like a writer's room and a TV show, Like we all sit around collaboratively and
6:00
all five of us are throwing ideas around and then you kind of get an
6:03
idea. And I know, with five of us were just always what we
6:08
call riffing. You know. It's just like you start with the Kurnel and
6:11
it's like you guys on air. You know, it's like if you guys are on air and all three of you years playing off each other all the
6:15
time, one person kind of records it and kind of, I don't know,
6:18
we're all writers and so somehow we've just made it work over thirty years.
6:21
So let me take that one farther Stepton, if you don't mind me
6:24
asking. And maybe I'm getting too far in the weeds, and maybe it's a completely different situation. But often in a situation like that where you have
6:30
five different people being creative, one of them has to be the guy who
6:33
says, okay, it's done, or the you know, the the arbiter,
6:36
the person who keeps people from strangling each other. Is there one of
6:41
you who kind of takes that role? It's funny. I like our group
6:45
reminds me a lot of you guys, especially when you have like pair of
6:48
lever in the room and you guys have five guys and just like having so
6:50
much fun or even rose and just like that dynamic. What we do is,
6:55
you know, we all write like an outline, but we have one
6:58
person what we call we can swear we're in the podcast, right, yeah, that's great. Yep, um, we see. Uh, we call
7:03
them the bitch. So each round, each script gets a bitch because it's
7:09
a terrible sort of role. Like all of us get to dick around and
7:11
have a great time, but one person has to be in charge of like
7:14
being responsible and h taking all of our notes and incorporating into a script and
7:19
then finally, like you know, kind of being the main person who's responsible.
7:23
Why the rest of us just get to kind of dick around and having
7:25
a great time. That makes sense. Yeah, So basically if a script
7:29
mediator, yes, yeah, and then then then then the next script,
7:34
something else has to do it so that guy can go around and dick around
7:36
having good time and just joke around and not have to worry about responsibility.
7:41
All right, So when does it come out twenty Yeah, of course that's
7:45
going to be a big day for comedies, right yeah, I mean yeah,
7:50
even though this has kind of been done for a while, the Studio
7:53
really really loves to release things down four twenty. You sit in at home,
7:56
you don't have to leave it, you know, have to get done to get in the cars in your living room. So because it's a streaming
8:03
debut and not a theatrical release, does that calm your nerves because you don't
8:09
have a box office number to worry about. I'm sure you're curious about the
8:11
streaming numbers, but is it a little less nerve wracking? Yeah, I
8:15
think that's a fair question. You know, when we first met Sandler,
8:18
the first thing you said was don't read your reviews. So I don't know.
8:22
I'm still I still have I'm a fragile person, just like everybody.
8:26
And maybe I don't know if you guys ever have to deal with this, but like you probably don't get better views, but you get one better view
8:31
and every positive review goes out the window. Yeah, so yeah, I
8:37
still get nervous about that, you know, I just you just want people
8:39
to like stuff they put out there, but you get a better view, and it hurts. It hurts. Guys, Well, what do you think
8:43
about this movie? You were part of the writing, part of the acting,
8:46
part of putting it together. What do you think. I think it's
8:50
fun. You know, it's really fun to go back to where we started and throwing out wigs and costumes and bad British accents, and it was kind
8:56
of our It was definitely a bit of the hat and money pipe. But
9:00
we used to We used to watch Great Heart a lot during the time that we were writing this, and we thought it'd be kind of fun to make
9:05
a comedic brave Heart like there is. We always loved the King when he'd
9:09
be like emo and we would do this that over and over again, that
9:16
like British King and Las be yelling leave us. So that kind of like
9:18
became our inspiration. So, m who does the editing and such like that
9:24
on a film like this? Do you hire an outside director, an outside
9:28
editor? Everybody else is outside of the group, I would guess not.
9:33
Kevin directed. It really was Flam and Sam and yeah it was directing this
9:35
movie called Easter Sunday. Kevin stepped in did an awesome job. Yeah,
9:41
we did it all man. We edited it, directed, acted, wrote,
9:43
so just you know, a full broken leisure movie. What's it like
9:46
being directed by somebody you've known forever? Used to tell him to shove it
9:54
a lot. Yeah, he tells you to do something. No, it's
9:58
totally easy. You know, we're just so used to like Kevin's on screen,
10:00
so we play multiple parts. There's time when like Kevin's on stage acting
10:03
against Kevin, and then then he's trying to direct, so you know,
10:07
Jay would just organically step in, or one of us would just kind of organically step in. I don't know, We've been doing it for so long
10:13
that it's just it's almost like not taking direct direction from somebody because you're writing
10:18
it, rehearsing it, and then by time to get in front of a
10:20
camera, you just kind of know what to do. So this comes out four twenty twenty three. When did you guys finish principal filming on the show?
10:28
I would say around Christmas of twenty one, Wow, and then we
10:33
spent last year doing post production and then editing and then on marketing. Okay,
10:37
so I would guess then you guys are well into your next project.
10:39
Am I write about that? Yeah? Wen draft said a Super Troupers three.
10:43
Oh wow, Wow, no kidding, I did not know you were
10:46
making a third one. Yeah, we're about to hand in the next draft
10:50
tifully next week. For when we handed the first draft. It's like our
10:52
tenth draft, so we've been spending a year writing it. What's it like
10:56
to to, you know, come up with a great had a great joke,
11:00
whatever, and film it and put it out there and and and I
11:03
don't really I guess I should say, before you even put it out there,
11:07
film it and then have to wait, you know, so long for
11:09
it to actually be seen by people. Is there this anticipation to finally get
11:15
that payoff that you did, you know, almost two years ago. Yeah?
11:18
Yeah, the waiting part is just such a bummer because it's finished.
11:22
But they're trying to you know, marketing needs time. They try to get these long leads for magazines and they want a certain date that they plan out
11:28
at a calendar. So you just sit around. You haven't watching Coxy a
11:33
lot doing these interviews for Succession, And in my mind, I still,
11:37
even though I'm in the business, like I'll see coxyum fallon or tonight show.
11:39
I'm like, wait a minute, your show's on HBO right now,
11:43
how are you doing this? And I'm like, all right, right, right, he's probably been done shooting the thing a year ago. Yeah,
11:48
That's exactly what I was just going to ask you about. Is Brian Cox
11:50
because obviously he's he's in the super Troopers lore right, everybody loves him from
11:54
those films with man, he's had just a gigantic last couple of years.
11:58
So how does that How does that change the future of his partnership with you
12:03
guys. Yes, of course we'll find out now we call him up about
12:07
this. You know, like he actually does the voiceover for Quasi. So
12:11
we start the movie as a voiceover and we handed with the voiceover and Brian
12:15
was cool enough to do it. Um. So, yeah, he's become
12:18
like this rock star and he's just become like the biggest guy out there right
12:22
now. And we're gonna have to approach him pretty soon about acting in the
12:26
third movie. So we'll see. Yeah, that that check I think is
12:30
gonna be a little bit bigger after his role as Logan Roy. So good
12:33
luck, good luck. Maybe you're gonna you're gonna have to do a go
12:37
fund me ye or something just for his salary of one film. Hey,
12:41
by the way, speaking of speaking of your fan base, Eric Stolhanski,
12:45
by the ways, who we're talking to. Um, So the Broken Lizard
12:48
comedy group obviously as a giant called following. So when you when you release
12:52
a movie like this, is it to the point where you're almost like a
12:56
band? Where as long as your diehards like it, that's all you're looking for. Like, obviously, if it goes wide and it's a huge deal
13:01
and everybody goes crazy for it, that's great. But are you guys always
13:05
satisfied if the Broken Lizard cult group at least is having fun with it?
13:09
I am yeah. I mean I can only speak for myself, but yeah,
13:13
totally. Like we just get these screens across the country, and you
13:16
know, your fan base comes out and you get to hang out afterwards. You did meet and greets afterwards and bars and hung out fans, and yeah,
13:22
it feels like a band. You know. It feels like we've been
13:24
tourned for thirty years and every time we do a movie tour and then you
13:28
get to meet the fans. And to me, that's fine. I'm happy
13:31
with it. I mean, as long as you got this fan base that
13:33
enjoys because everyone's not gonna love it. I mean, Steve Martin did this
13:37
masterclass and one of the first things he talks about is like Comedi's niche, you know, like doesn't matter who you are, Like you have certain people
13:43
like it, some people that don't, and all you could be grateful for
13:48
is it people that do enjoy it or respond to it. Do you listen to the master Classes a lot? But I have watched Steve Martin's is awesome?
13:56
Do you guys? I do. I'm a subscriber, And it's funny
14:00
how different they are from person to person. You can tell which person really
14:05
puts time into it and takes it seriously and which people are just kind of
14:07
riffing, if you know what I mean. And it aggravates the piss out
14:11
of me when somebody's just riffing and you can tell they didn't write anything down.
14:13
But Steve's was really good. And there's the other guy who wrote,
14:16
um this is forty umpt. I think it's appatas. Yeah, his is
14:22
fantastic if you ever get a chance, or maybe you've already seen that, Eric, but it's my favorite of all of them. That's the best one.
14:30
Check that out. Are you so you're in California right now? I
14:33
take it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Primiary a couple of nights
14:37
and I'll go back home. Yeah, yeah, Do you have another place out there or something? Or you just when you go out there, do
14:41
you stay with a buddy or do you sleep on the beach or what path
14:46
on the beach? A couple of times, I'm currently in a hotel.
14:48
Sometimes Soder's got a little back house, so I stay in, um,
14:52
but usually stay in a hotel. Yeah. Isn't true that Mark Parrish is
14:56
not speaking with you because he does not have a role in Quasi WHOA.
15:00
He is missing my tooth. He'd perry, he would be perfect. Um,
15:05
I would have you know. The COVID thing was just so closed off,
15:09
such a bubble thing. But now the world's open again, you know, next movie maybe? Yeah? Right, um, and if you get
15:15
something, go ahead. I want to go back to Brian Coxon, So don't let me forget. We were talking on the main show about like meeting
15:20
your heroes. Is there somebody in your world that you've met that's a total
15:22
fucking prick besides the aforementioned Mark Parrish. Yeah, besides no, and you
15:28
don't you know, you don't have to name him, but if you run
15:31
into somebody you're like Jesus, Oh yeah, for sure. That's what's funny
15:35
when you ask that, My god, do I say the name? You can't? Um? Yeah, the one, well, I've met Sevil,
15:39
but the one that I will I will have I'll talk about was, Um,
15:43
we're shooting beer Fest and my grandfather purposely we cast this guy because we
15:48
loved him an animal house and he was someone that we wanted to work with.
15:54
Donald Sutherland is his name, and we're like, oh shit, we
15:58
got Donald Sutherland. And I was so because I did I show up.
16:00
I played grandson. Jay introduced me and Donald, Hey, I want to
16:03
do so. This is Eric Stillhanski, he played your parents in the movie.
16:06
He wouldn't look at me, and he wouldn't extend his hand, and he wouldn't even say hello. Oh no, really like wow. And then
16:14
I kind of like walked away laughing. I'm like, oh, you know
16:17
what I mean. You meet some in such a dick, it's like hard almost hard to believe. Well, somebody that's exact opposite that, somebody that
16:22
you were afraid was going to be like that move was super cool. Oh
16:26
that's interesting. Um, well, Coxi's coxy, I mean all, but
16:32
like we Coxie Paxton and Claris Leachman, and Michael Clarke Duncan are the four
16:36
people who've been really fortunate to be able to have leads in a movie. And they were all super cool. Like Paxton came down early to hang out
16:42
on set and rehearses us. But like I feel like most people just show
16:45
up, day up and shoot leave. Like Paxton came down or hanging out
16:49
and we'd you know, drank, and he loved to eat pancakes. He
16:52
started calling Pancake Paxton. Man, I don't call me that. That's kind
16:57
of nicknakeer really stick with a guy, so we was calling pancake. He
17:03
was super cool. To lose him, going back to yeah that sucked,
17:06
man, what a what a good dude? Man? Um? Yeah, going back to Brian Cox for a second, looking at his career. Obviously
17:12
started like in the Royal Shakespeare Academy, and he's done, he'd done a
17:17
lot before he got the Super Troopers even and of course he's you know,
17:19
and he's done a million things since then to make him even bigger. Do
17:22
you remember how that even happened that you guys got him in Super Troopers?
17:26
Yeah, it was weird. We were you know, kind of going down
17:30
this list of like super comedy guys like art, you know, you kind
17:33
of start with the list of wish list type of guys. And we were
17:37
like, well, how about Bill Murray and then John Goodman, the kind
17:40
of guys that done a lot of big comedy roles and critically carry a film.
17:42
And then we got an incoming call saying, hey, would you guys
17:47
ever consider Brian Cox and we we were like, Hannibal Elector. Yeah,
17:51
you know, it's like such a weird choice, Like he's such a great actor, like he said, clappy train, Shakespearean actor, and he had
17:56
played Hannibal Elector, the first person to ever play handibal actor. Yeah,
18:02
and we were thinking, well, you know, like it was so different than what we've sort of had on the radar um for like a comedic actor.
18:08
But he said, We're like, wow, they're really interesting if we
18:12
got like a Shakespearean actor, and this kind of became our peloates, like
18:15
you anchor film with somebody's really good, and then we can kind of like
18:18
fly around and kind of do our thing because we can, you know,
18:22
he grounds us, he makes us give us some weight, So we kind
18:26
of took a chance on Brian because we weren't sure if you have the comedic
18:30
chops, And he turned out to be fucking fantastic, you know, yeah,
18:33
in almost the same ways he's fantastic on Succession. Right. It's the
18:36
joke is his anger, right when he says fuck off in Succession, it's
18:41
a joke even though he's actually met. And I felt like he was the same way in Super Troopers. Right, every time he yells at you guys,
18:47
the anger is the comedy it is, and that's so great, Like
18:51
he just every time he's like you like the blustered guy who's so frustrated with
18:56
us. And he just he grew up love Jerry Lewis and comedy in Allywood
19:02
comedy, and then he got cast and he's really dramatic roles. And he just said he never ever gets cast in anything funny and he always wants to
19:07
do comedy. So he kind of sought ups on a way, you know,
19:11
he threw his age and he kind of sought out being in this and
19:15
he was on fower. Dan Fallen asked him about Super Troopers and he said,
19:18
you know, everyone kept saying, well, why do you want to
19:21
do that movie? And he said That's exactly why I did it. When somebody says, why do you want to do that? That's the kind of
19:26
thing you try to do. Well, that's fantastic. Here's an odd question
19:30
for you, and I've never thought about it till right now, So stay
19:32
with me. But when you have people like Brian Cox, who, as
19:34
we had said, had been successful but had gone has gone onto even greater
19:37
success, do you ever have to check yourself not to ask for favors?
19:44
If you know what I'm saying, Like I know, for me, when
19:47
we get to know people and you know their star continues to grow, I
19:51
find myself keeping myself in check even more because I don't want to become that
19:53
friend. Is it hard not to do that in Hollywood? A little bit?
19:57
Yeah, it's challenging. Like when you have a good friend that asks
20:00
through you for something from somebody you know, and then you want to be
20:06
a good friend and ask that, But then I feel like I'm imposing and
20:08
somebody by asking charity events, you know that was for a good cause.
20:12
He reads out to somebody and like, oh man, I hate to ask
20:15
someone a favor That is I think unbelievably lame. But on a side note,
20:21
Eric, it is Conan O'Brien's sixtieth birthday. Do you know anybody that
20:25
knows him? And if so, can you get me his number? Let
20:29
me try because I love you. Let me see now I feel guilty. Let me put it a couple of calls for you. Awesome, thank you.
20:34
Just know it's not for charity. No, this is just for me
20:38
and and I don't know anybody that you don't. So if you need somebody's
20:42
number, just ask Parish because he would probably have it in his phone.
20:47
I don't. Can I go back to when you guys ask me about somebody
20:52
super cool? Yeah, to give them props? Yes, we when we
20:56
were first making super Troopers. Orge Clooney who also was in a fucking great
21:02
sense of humor, and he was, um, he wasn't as big as
21:07
he is now, but he was you know, he had done like he was doing like perfect Storm and he's coming up the yard. He was a
21:11
fan of Super Troopers, the script and he was trying to get you know,
21:14
doing getting this producing. He said, Hey, if it helps it
21:17
all and you want to put my name on it, I'll help you take
21:19
this to studio to try to get in the door to pitch it and ultimately
21:25
we didn't sell it to studios because we were going to act in and direct
21:29
it. But he was super cool to try to help us get it made. Wow, that is a really fresh place. What about then go ahead?
21:34
And then one other thing is Sandler was also saw Super Troopers and he
21:38
said, Hey, I kind of make movies with my buddies, kind of
21:41
the same thing I do. I like what you guys do. If there's
21:44
anything I can do to help, I would love to try to. And
21:47
so we originally tried to make beer Fest via Sony where Adam had his deal,
21:52
but he was super cool to take it in and say, um,
21:55
I like these guys. Maybe if if I can help make beer Fest,
22:00
happy to help. And ultimately we made it with Warner Brothers. But Adam
22:03
was super cool to try to help us. So Super Troopers too. You
22:07
had Rob Low and I just heard Rob Low on the smart List podcast a
22:10
handful of days ago, and he and Jason Bateman were going back and forth
22:15
essentially about you throw a random name at either one of them and they have
22:18
a story just because they're so connected in Hollywood, they know so many people.
22:22
Did you feel that when Roblow was on set that he just knows everybody
22:26
and his crossed paths with everybody. And now, of course all of you
22:30
are on that list as well. Yeah, his list is deep. I
22:34
mean he grew up in Malibu with like Charlie Sheen and yeah, I mean
22:42
those guys are like high school buddies. And then he's been acting ever since.
22:47
I mean the guy is just like I kind of Hollywood. I wanted
22:49
to just droll him questions about young bloodle and we're in set. That's all
22:52
I cared about, was talking to about young bloods. Yeah. Nice guy
22:56
too, Roblow. Nice, Yeah, super nice. I'm pretty cool.
23:00
And four twenty on Hulu, a Quasi comes out. Eric Stohanskin His Whole
23:04
is another movie from this great group of comedic actors man, and I'm very
23:08
excited about seeing it. And again the fact that you can go ahead and
23:11
take it up at home and watch it and not have to worry about leaving
23:14
the house at home. That's right now. What the kids say is I
23:17
know what the kids say. Alright, cool, Um, one more actor
23:19
that you've worked with that I've got to talk to you about, because this
23:22
son of a bitch is great, and I know it was a small role
23:26
in Super Troopers too, but Paul Walter Hauser hasn't. Oh my god,
23:30
dude. I mean obviously he played Richard Jewel, but then the role he
23:34
played in Blackbird as that serial killer. My god, dude, how did
23:40
you know what was going on with him? And did you have any idea
23:42
that he was going to turn out to be the guy he is? Oh
23:45
no, I mean, the guy's unbelievable. Every role he does. I
23:48
mean, uh, I turn to think. There's a couple other films he
23:52
did it were standing Besides Richard Jewel, he did uh Black Plants, phenomen
24:00
know, the Spike Lee Black Black Clansman. Yeah, I mean he does
24:03
he pops you know what I mean? Jesus. And he had the smallest
24:07
part in Super Troopers too, and it is my favorite part. He just
24:11
came in and like it was so fun to watch him improvised lines and stuff
24:14
like that. Just a Dyamond actor. Super cool guy too. Um yeah,
24:18
I don't know. We you know he Kevin had met him doing some
24:22
stand up show years back, and he kind of looked like Farva and he
24:26
liked Super Troopers and he came in and he's perfect and we were just honored
24:29
to have him, but had no idea kind of like Brian Cox, you don't know that these guys are just gonna come rock stars. Yeah, Lonnie
24:33
la Lous was his name, and he's that. When he plays that killer
24:38
in black, it's one of the best acting performances the whole all the interrogation
24:45
scenes, it's fucking incredible. How good he is. Oh, he's unbelievable.
24:49
Yeah, he made up some line and super Troopers like walk faster,
24:52
finger blaster. I mean just he made it up, I think, and
24:56
it was just like the funniest thing. I was like trying to laugh to
24:59
break correct ruined the scene. But he's a great piece, not a great
25:03
actor, and he's super funny too. The very thing is a sketch comedian,
25:07
no kidding him. So so when you guys again, when the movie
25:10
is being launched on Hulu, a streaming service, and you just said you're you're about to do, is there going to be like a red carpet walk
25:17
and a release and all that kind of stuff, the way they would do a movie that's getting released in theaters. Yeah, Yeah, we're doing a
25:22
premiere in Hollywood. It's not going to be like a big theater. They're
25:25
doing skin of a I think they're going to get torture chamber or something and
25:29
doing like a medieval kind of like party, but they don't have a screening
25:33
and red carpet that kind of stuff. Yeah. Well, I think Rosie
25:36
wants to go to the party and skip the movie. He just wants to be said, that's okay with you? Yeah, he likes he wants to
25:41
go on the dungeon. He's got a dungeon in his basement, right, he's got a dudgeon in his pants. Who bit? Yeah? Oh,
25:47
and you know what I should ask this because you get to make out with a hot baby, and like every movie you're in, is there a hot
25:52
baby get to make out within this one? No, I'm not dirty and
25:56
muddy and get tortured, son of a bitch. I give make aason in
26:00
every movie guys. M Yeah, we're gonna to write the next one together
26:03
because you're gonna be making out with like seven different women. It's going to
26:07
be a story of my youth. Yeah, that's that's that's that's why Eric,
26:11
you and I need to be better friends. I need to be the
26:14
the honorary member of the Broken Lizard comedy group. I'll help you write these
26:17
movies, and every role I'll have is just making out with Carrie Russell.
26:21
Oh okay, and then I don't even care if you cut all of the
26:23
rest of my scenes. He's gonna try each scene though about eight hundred times.
26:27
Yeah. Yes, you just want to shoot it, that's all.
26:30
Yeah, I just want to shoot it. If you cut it, that's fine. I mean you're gonna have to pay carry. I'll do it for
26:33
free, okay, okay. Well, and I'll direct and I'll just keep
26:37
saying, Okay, we're we're gonna need another take. We're gonna need another
26:40
take. Yeah. Absolutely. And by the way, Eric, do you
26:45
know Carrie And if so, can you get me her number? It's for
26:48
this one's for charity. Um, I don't know carried, but this is
26:52
a bit of Kevin Bacon here. I know somebody who used to date her.
26:56
So that's one steps to be And Mark Parris says, to see Mike
27:02
get through Mark Parris. You got to know though Mark doesn't remember anybody that
27:07
he's met. You know, I asked him if you wanted to be in
27:10
and part of this interview to day and he goes, who's Eric Stolhanski. Yeah, I believe that, my heart. You're the best dude. You
27:17
really are, man, And I was I forgot to mention this last time
27:21
we had you on, but I didn't even remember. I'm looking it up right now Esquire magazine. Yeah, it was in March of twenty twenty two.
27:26
I can I just found it. They did an article on the fifty
27:30
fifty best comedies of all time, and super Troopers is on that list,
27:33
man, So that's got to feel fantastic. Oh my god, it's amazing.
27:37
Yeah, I can't believe it, absolutely, dude. Thank you for for being on has always. Please come see us when you get back to
27:41
town. And best of luck. Congratulations on continued success, dude, Thanks
27:45
guys, Love you guys. I guess there, He goes, all right,
27:49
So Quasi comes out Friday on four twenties. Zach, you're gonna be
27:52
higher than hell. You probably have Hulu blaze it. Yeah, you can't
27:57
wait. Man. I love those guys. It's was I was cool seeing
28:00
they had a picture of them all working on their laptops on a plane or
28:04
something, and I'm just I'm just fascinated buy you know something where you just
28:10
spend years working on on one project. I don't know if I mean have
28:14
we have you guys ever done? I mean other than I guess initials game
28:17
dot initially that came up organically. So um that dude, man Um.
28:26
I will remember the first time we met him in person because the whole time
28:30
I'm looking at him going, how in the sweet shit do I know that
28:33
guy's face? And it wasn't just from super Troopers. Yeah, and that's
28:36
what I realized. He was part of P ninety X the video. Yeah,
28:38
he was one of the guys working out in the video before Easter got
28:41
away from you. Right, that's exactly right. That's a great story as
28:45
well. But and then he brought in the old Spice guy. Remember that?
28:49
Oh that that wasn't him? Is it really? Man? He was
28:56
in the It, he was in the It's sequel. I think, gosh,
29:03
he was like, God, hand, don't tell me his name,
29:07
man, I got it. It's it's real close to me. Um,
29:11
don't tell me. Hang on, I want to. I want to say
29:15
MoU Fassa, but that's obviously from Lion King. But it's something like that.
29:21
It's something very close to that. Shit. I'm looking it up right
29:23
now. I got the guy. Okay, Isaiah Mustafa's close to fa Yeah,
29:30
yeah, that's it. And and he just came in and didn't say
29:33
a thing in the studio, he was just sitting there. Were like, hey, who's your buddy? Old Spice guy has been in a bunch of
29:37
other movies and stuff too. And remember that guy was the guy that was
29:41
like, oh God, what is that other dude's name? Man our,
29:47
our freaking memories are falling apart. Remember he was telling us that one of
29:49
the dudes from like the Avengers kept getting into it was the guy with the
29:56
guy we met in London. Anthony didn't Anthony, Yeah, it was Anthony
30:00
Mackiekins. Really he talked about like I think we asked him off the year,
30:03
like what roles he'd been in or tried out for him? He said
30:08
he tried out for whatever that character multiple roles. Yeah, and he kept
30:12
snapping him and apparently the two of them don't get along super well. We
30:17
ripped him yeah, and he was like yeah, I can see that. Yeah. Wow. We told we told the London story about him shutting down
30:22
Ellie from getting an autograph or a picture. When Ben asked, Ben Lieber
30:26
asked, yeah, and uh in Isaiah Mustafa was basically Yep, that's pretty
30:30
much par for the course. That's kind of who he is. He doesn't
30:33
all right, You could tell they don't get along. They did not get along. In an article from November of last year, the Alex Cross Series.
30:40
The Alex Cross Series at Amazon Prime Videos cast two key roles, Ryan
30:45
Eggold of New Amsterdam and Isaiah Mustafa of it Chapter two. I will be
30:48
part of the James Patterson series. So that's pretty good. He was a
30:52
nice guy. Yeah, great dude. Yeah, And honestly, Eric's about
30:56
the nicest Guy's great. You would never know he's been in this many movies
31:00
because he just he's super unassuming, Like, um, when Lieber has those
31:04
National Championship football parties or whatever. Yeah, Eric just walks around the basement
31:10
like he's just a dude. Yeah. If you had never seen any of
31:14
his movies, you would just think it's one of Ben's neighbors, because he's
31:17
not. He doesn't seek the spotlight. He doesn't go look at me, look at me, look at me. He's just duds, just Eric,
31:21
and he just happens to be in a whole bunch of movies. No big deal, just a movie star. Do you remember who the hot baby was
31:26
he made out with Yeah Chicken, Yeah from from Entourage, Manuel Shrieky because
31:32
I say her last name, man and still hands you get to make out
31:34
of it. He's the queen of the galaxy. She she certainly should man,
31:38
she's so hot. So they go. That's the afterparty podcast. Yeah,
