1:46
We appreciate a positive review on Apple podcasts
1:48
and spot if I as while while you're
1:50
at it. And. That one things
1:52
are always like to do when we kick off
1:54
our episodes is to share our top three favorite
1:57
resources. So the first one is an app called
1:59
Tic Tic. Though it's belt T I
2:01
C K C I see Case or Tic
2:03
Tac. And. It's it to do less
2:05
Apt that's available on all platforms and
2:07
has a beautiful you I. May.
2:09
Has lots of rich features that I think a
2:11
lot people with light. Such. As
2:14
having a Pompadour a timer built in
2:16
but can easily share your list with
2:18
other people. Is so much more. It's
2:20
a really popular apps. I had a recommend you check
2:23
it out Tic Tac if you need a new to
2:25
do lists up. Another
2:27
resource and want to recommend is called
2:29
Chats. Pts said this is a website
2:31
a uses Ai technology. To. Make
2:33
life easy for you especially for
2:35
people were in academia because what
2:37
it allows you to do is.
2:40
You. Can upload a Pts and
2:42
then able to analyze that using
2:44
ai technology. And then you
2:46
can interact with a. Lesser. Say
2:49
a chat bots about what's in the
2:51
documents. even ask it. To summarize, You.
2:53
Can ask it to do additional research based
2:55
on what's in there. You can ask her
2:57
to decide all the resources that are in
3:00
there and give you a list. A can
3:02
reference other papers. You can do all these
3:04
different pass based on whatever the content is
3:06
of the Pdf. so this is really popular.
3:09
Among. Academia Among those who
3:11
are embracing. A I right now
3:13
and are at the forefront. So I wanted to bring this
3:15
up because I know let people whose listen to the show.
3:18
And were Asian efficiency. Customers are come that
3:20
world's but even if you're not in academia,
3:22
I think Chappie D S is very helpful
3:24
when it comes and like legal agreements. You.
3:26
Can upload and be like eight. Am I
3:28
allowed to do their space on this? Legal agreements and
3:30
stuff like that. And. Then the third
3:32
resource I want to recommend is called the or
3:35
ring and this is one that I've been wearing
3:37
for a lesser for for to have years now.
3:40
It's a fitness tracker. It's a shape of
3:42
a ring. I like how we as Apple
3:44
watches or with bands. I be using my
3:46
for a long time and as. Still,
3:48
And a big fan of it. I
3:50
can't live without it. If I were
3:52
to lose this, I would instantly remind
3:54
without thinking about it. So. I.
3:57
recommend you check out the or ring if you
3:59
want to get some insights on your health and
4:01
wellness. And everything that we talk
4:04
about here on the show can be
4:06
found at theprodactivityshow.com and also the resources
4:08
that I just mentioned. All right, let's
4:10
start diving into today's topic. So today,
4:12
I wanna dive into this idea of
4:14
trends for
4:18
the way we do work, productivity,
4:21
how we collaborate. And
4:23
something that I've done recently for Asian
4:26
efficiency customers was I
4:28
hosted an exclusive webinar for
4:30
our top clients and
4:32
gave them a presentation on what
4:35
I foresee happening in 2024 in
4:38
terms of trends, apps and tools you wanna be
4:40
aware of. And I gave people
4:43
a list of my current favorite apps and
4:45
tools as well that kinda
4:47
covered a big four. And
4:49
a big four, I mean a to-do
4:51
list app, a calendar app, no-ticking
4:54
app, and then project management as
4:56
well. I'm going to link a
4:58
recording of this here in the
5:00
show notes so you can go check out the recording
5:02
if you want. It's about an hour
5:04
long and I go into a lot more detail, but
5:07
I talk about the current state of
5:09
apps that you wanna be aware
5:11
of and wanna check out. I
5:14
also talk about artificial intelligence,
5:16
how that is a major trends for 2024. And
5:19
then also health and wellness, which I believe
5:21
is going to be a big driver this
5:24
year for people and
5:26
as the technology is growing and evolving,
5:29
it is going to change how we
5:31
work and look at productivity as
5:33
well. Now we have been kind of
5:35
like big fans of looking at health and
5:37
wellness, right? Since, I don't know, 2016. If
5:42
you think about the T framework, which we
5:44
are mostly known for, right? Time, energy and
5:46
attention. Energy is all about your
5:48
health and wellness. If you have
5:50
no energy, guess what? Nothing will get done. Even
5:52
if you have the time to do the work,
5:54
even if you know what you need to do,
5:56
which is attention, but if you have
5:59
no energy, guess what? But you are
6:01
not going to be clicking buttons, doing
6:03
stuff and move forward on
6:05
your projects and goals. And
6:08
I've been a big fan of just focusing on
6:10
your health and wellness partly because of my own
6:12
journey as someone who had a shoulder
6:15
surgery back in 2016 and wasn't settling on this
6:19
idea that I had to rehab for six months
6:21
and be not as productive as I could
6:24
have been. And so I went down
6:26
this journey of how can I recover
6:28
way faster because my orthopedic surgeon told me
6:30
that I couldn't work out for
6:32
six months and I said,
6:34
okay, well, let me go
6:37
against the grain and see what's out there because I
6:40
just don't like the idea of not being able to
6:42
work out at all for six months. And
6:44
long story short, I went down this rabbit
6:46
hole and fortunately, I
6:49
live in Austin, Texas where health
6:51
and wellness is a big cutting
6:54
edge forefront here. And
6:56
there's a lot of functional medicine, there's a
6:58
lot of practitioners, there's a lot of tech
7:00
companies who are on the cutting
7:02
edge when it comes to health and wellness.
7:05
So I was fortunate enough to
7:07
get access to some of those people, pick
7:09
their brains, figure out what I could do. And
7:13
eventually, I came across different
7:15
solutions where I was able to rehab my
7:17
shoulder in about two and
7:19
a half months compared to what most people would
7:21
do in six to eight months. So literally
7:24
two and a half months later, I was fully
7:26
done, I could like lift weights again, all that
7:28
stuff. And in fact,
7:30
I have a funny story. After my
7:33
post-op, I had a
7:35
follow-up with my surgeon like a week later after
7:37
my surgery, just to double check where everything was
7:40
going and make sure that everything was going
7:42
well. I remember seeing him,
7:44
it was like a Wednesday
7:47
afternoon, somewhere around one or two o'clock. And
7:50
saw him for a few minutes, he said, hey, everything
7:52
is looking good, how are you feeling? I'm like, yeah,
7:54
I'm doing all right. He kind of gave me a
7:56
timeline of six months and then to reconsider working out
7:59
and stuff like that. But I already
8:01
had an appointment scheduled with this clinic here
8:03
in Austin called Newfit. And
8:06
I didn't tell my orthopedic surgeon that
8:08
I had this, but basically I went
8:10
there right after I saw him and
8:12
I was lifting my arm and
8:15
doing all these like ranges of
8:17
motion that would normally not be possible,
8:19
but a week after my surgery, which
8:22
gave me the confidence that I could
8:24
rehab a lot faster than is traditionally
8:26
accepted. So all of this
8:28
to say is that the T framework,
8:30
time, energy, and attention, part
8:33
of it is an evolution of my own journey
8:35
and productivity and what I've seen working with clients.
8:38
A lot of times when people come to us, they
8:40
struggle with time. And
8:43
then the second barrier they usually run into
8:45
is that, okay, once they get a good
8:47
grasp of managing their time, then
8:49
it's usually energy. That's the second barrier that's
8:51
holding them back. It's not
8:53
getting enough sleep. That's not feeling
8:56
right. It's always feeling tired, coming
8:59
home from work and then not
9:01
having the energy or focus or the capability
9:04
to study for their certification or to
9:06
work on their side hustle, which really
9:08
stems from energy. And
9:11
typically when they resolve that and things
9:13
are going well, that's when attention usually
9:15
becomes the main pillar that they have
9:18
to focus on, especially as you're growing,
9:20
whether it's a fast company, you're
9:22
growing in your career, there's a lot of stuff going on.
9:25
Opportunities just come your way and there's a lot more things you
9:28
have to focus on and have
9:30
to prioritize as well. And so
9:32
managing your attention and mastering that as well
9:35
is usually the third pillar that people run
9:37
into, hence the T framework. And
9:39
I've seen this just happen over and over again working
9:41
with clients since 2011 that we
9:44
kind of formulated it in 2017 into
9:47
an official framework, which then later
9:49
led to the 2020 25X productivity
9:51
system. Now why am
9:53
I saying all this to you? Well, as
9:57
I was doing this live webinar where I
9:59
talked about the... trends, I've
10:01
kind of realized, okay, productivity has come a long
10:03
way. Back in the day, it was
10:05
all about maximizing your time,
10:07
maximizing every 15 minutes, hyper
10:10
scheduling and the
10:13
shift that I've made personally and starting
10:15
to see people make as well
10:17
is that we go away from, hey, we
10:21
have to do everything possible as humans
10:24
and almost sacrifice our health
10:26
and wellness to get stuff done. We
10:29
go from that to now shifting more to
10:31
focusing on health and wellness and
10:35
especially with AI around the
10:37
corner, a lot of the menial and
10:39
admin tasks that we're currently doing, yes,
10:42
some of them might be delegated to other people
10:44
right now, but over time, technology is going to
10:46
take that over. I'm starting
10:48
to see the shift that a lot of
10:50
things that we're currently doing, even
10:53
creative stuff or simple routine stuff
10:56
will eventually be done by
10:58
other tools. I
11:01
think in maybe two episodes ago, Brooks and I
11:03
talked about how there's this
11:05
new phenomena coming up where you don't
11:08
just pay for SaaS, right, software as
11:10
a service, but actually
11:12
you start to get AI tools or
11:14
software as a solution. Now,
11:17
they're taking over work for you,
11:19
not just you getting access to
11:21
tools to do the work yourself,
11:24
but now getting access to tools that actually do the
11:26
work for you and give you the results that
11:28
you're looking for. That
11:30
I think is really exciting. Hence why I
11:32
think AI is going to be a big
11:35
forefront for this year. My
11:37
prediction that I mentioned on the live webinar
11:39
for 2024 is that especially if you're following
11:44
the podcasts, you've been a
11:47
recent subscriber or you've been with us for
11:49
a while, 24,
12:00
you will be using AI
12:02
tools on a regular basis. And
12:04
some of it will be very obvious because they are AI
12:07
tools like chat, GPT, or bard. And
12:10
some tools are kind of like
12:14
they use AI tools in the background without
12:16
you actually knowing it. So
12:19
for example, if you look at Notion, which
12:21
is a popular note-taking app, a
12:24
lot of them, a
12:26
lot of the features that are in there are using
12:28
AI without you actually realizing it.
12:30
Now some of it is also going to be more
12:32
at the forefront. So for example, one of their newest
12:34
features is called QA. And
12:36
it's basically kind of like chat, GPT,
12:39
but using the data source of your
12:42
stuff in Notion. So imagine
12:44
having a chatbot that you can interact with that
12:47
studies and analyzes whatever you put into
12:49
Notion and then can answer questions and
12:52
give you output and data and results based on
12:54
whatever you put into Notion. That's
12:57
kind of like what's coming up right now and
12:59
happening, but that's going to be extended to even
13:01
more detailed. So some of the demos that they've
13:03
showcased is how you might say,
13:05
hey, I'm starting a new project where I
13:08
have to redesign my website. Can
13:10
you create a list of tasks for me? And then guess what?
13:13
All of a sudden, it will create a list of tasks for
13:15
you in Notion that you can then follow.
13:17
So there's all these little features that are coming out, not
13:19
just in Notion, but many other tools that I
13:22
think is going to be more common
13:24
this year so that pretty much
13:27
all of us are going to
13:29
be using features like that, if not
13:31
standalone AI tools. So again,
13:33
I go into more detail in the live webinar. And
13:36
what I really want to do on this podcast episode is kind
13:39
of give you some hints and some
13:41
wisdom and some insights from that live
13:43
webinar so that if you wanted to go check

15:55
self will thank you. But
15:58
again, I talked about the big apps. of
16:01
the big four. I talked about
16:03
some other noteworthy apps. So a couple ones that
16:05
I want to mention here are this
16:07
one has been really popular recently called OneSec.
16:10
So OneSec, you
16:13
spell it as
16:16
O-N-E-S-E-C, OneSec, and it's one
16:18
word, so one second essentially. And
16:20
it's available on iOS and Android. And
16:23
basically what this does is that let's
16:26
say you want to use Instagram
16:28
less often or TikTok less often
16:30
on your phone. Now
16:34
a black and white method is to just
16:36
to delete the app and reinstall the app
16:38
whenever you want to use it. Some people
16:40
do that, and I can see
16:42
that being effective for some. However,
16:45
many of us also use other apps like that
16:47
maybe for work or we have to use it
16:49
for other things. And we
16:52
also at the same time want to
16:54
use it less often. And
16:56
how many of us oftentimes grab
16:58
our phone just to quote unquote just
17:00
check stuff and then lo and behold
17:02
you're spending 15, 20, 30
17:04
minutes on it and then you're like, man, I wish
17:08
I hadn't done that, right? So
17:10
this is where OneSec comes in. So OneSec,
17:12
it's a bit of a technical setup once
17:14
you set it up, especially on iOS because
17:16
you have to use some automation
17:18
to make it all work. However,
17:20
once you have it set up, basically
17:23
what it allows you to do is that
17:25
anytime you open up Instagram, the
17:27
app itself or TikTok, it
17:29
will actually open up OneSec and
17:32
it will show you a bar that
17:34
does like a little countdown timer like
17:36
five, four, three, two, one. And then
17:41
it will give you an option to say, hey, do you
17:43
want to continue to use Instagram or do you want to
17:45
exit it? So what's great
17:47
about this app is that it forces you to
17:50
break this habit and it catches
17:52
you in the moment when
17:54
you have usually the lowest amount
17:57
of willpower to make your behavioral
17:59
change. And it will ask
18:01
you, hey, do you actually want to use this?
18:03
And it will force a pause before you can
18:05
continue. And this is a great app for that
18:08
reason because, yeah, I
18:10
can tell you like, hey, just delete the app
18:12
or hey, just stop using the app altogether or
18:14
just use it less often. But that doesn't work.
18:16
I've seen that with so many clients. It just
18:19
doesn't work. However, if you
18:21
can break the pattern every
18:23
single time with
18:25
tools like OneSec, you're less
18:27
likely to then follow through because
18:30
most of the time when you open up the app
18:32
and it forces you to do this five second countdown
18:36
and then continue to say, yes, I want to
18:38
use this app, now you're a lot more intentional
18:40
about it. But
18:42
you can also have the option to say, hey, actually, you
18:44
know what? No, I don't want to use
18:46
Instagram at all. Let me just exit right here and go back to
18:48
work. So go check out OneSec.
18:51
I think it's a great tool and
18:53
I highly recommend you check it out. And then I have a
18:55
list of other noteworthy mentions, but you're going to
18:57
have to check out the full live webinar if you
18:59
want to see all my recommendations here. All
19:02
right. So that was kind of like the app section. I
19:05
also want to talk about AI. Now, if
19:07
you're not using AI right now, I would
19:10
encourage you to sign up for a free
19:12
account at chatgpt. You can
19:14
find it at chat.openai.com. It's
19:16
free. You can also use Google.
19:19
They have Bard, B-A-R-D. It's
19:21
free to use as well. It's kind of
19:23
like their main competitor. And it
19:25
basically has a similar feature set, but chatgpt was
19:27
kind of like the first one and personally the
19:29
one that I use. And
19:32
if you're a Pro Activity Academy member,
19:34
you already know that last year we
19:36
did multiple master classes on how to
19:38
use chatgpt to be more productive. And
19:40
personally, I've been spending, I don't
19:42
know, too many hours learning this tool
19:45
and also learning about prompt engineering and
19:47
how it works behind the scenes and
19:49
that kind of stuff. So,
19:51
let's get into the nitty gritty details and bore you to
19:53
death there. Assuming we are on
19:55
board with that, I want
19:57
to talk about a few different AI tools to
19:59
that I think you should just look into.
20:02
Again, I go into more detail here on
20:04
the Live Webinar, but one that I definitely
20:06
want to bring up is Chat's PDF. I
20:09
mentioned this at the very beginning of the
20:11
episode as one of the top three resources.
20:13
But this is a more
20:16
user-friendly way of using Chat
20:18
GPT and documents, basically. You'll
20:21
start to notice over time that a lot
20:23
of AI tools are kind of using OpenAI
20:25
as the backbone, which is the
20:27
creator of Chat GPT, because you have
20:30
an API access where you can basically create an
20:32
interface on top of
20:34
their engine, kind of like how
20:36
Fantastical is kind of like
20:38
a forefront engine for Google Calendar in a way.
20:41
Anyway, so going back to Chat PDF, what is
20:44
great about this is that, again, you can upload
20:46
a PDF file and it interacts
20:48
with the chatbot based on the content that's
20:50
in there. So you can have
20:52
it summarize it, you can ask questions, and
20:54
it can answer it for you based on
20:56
what's in the content. So
20:59
it's great for legal contracts.
21:01
It's great for research papers.
21:03
If you're a student, you can learn from
21:05
this. There's just a lot of things that
21:07
we can do. I
21:11
highly recommend you check it out because I know
21:13
many people who are listening to the show work
21:15
in academia and die
21:18
to have something like this. If
21:21
you don't know about it now, this
21:24
is my calling to you to say, go
21:26
check out Chat PDF and just play around
21:28
with it. Even if you're not in academia,
21:30
just upload a PDF that you've maybe even
21:32
created and just interact with it
21:35
and see what you can discover. Even
21:38
if you already know what the content is, just ask it
21:40
to say, hey, can you summarize this for me? And so
21:43
on. You'll be amazed what it can do.
21:45
And then once you kind of get the gist of it, I
21:47
think you'll be inspired to do a lot
21:50
of other different things. So that's one I
21:52
want to recommend. Another one is especially
21:54
if you're into more creative stuff
21:57
and creating images, I think
21:59
Adobe. Firefly, again, it's also
22:01
a free tool, something
22:03
that you wanna check out. It's kinda like Photoshop,
22:07
but you can generate
22:10
artwork and make edits to photos just
22:14
based on clicking a bunch of different
22:16
things and then telling it to change
22:18
it. So for example, let's
22:20
say I have a photo and I
22:22
use this in the presentation as well. There's a
22:24
photo of a lady who is standing in the
22:26
desert and has a blue sky
22:29
as a backdrop. And what
22:31
you could do is literally just use your mouse and
22:34
select the blue sky area and then
22:36
have this little prompt to say, hey,
22:38
change the color of the blue
22:40
sky to something with pink
22:42
clouds. And then
22:44
within seconds, the app
22:47
Adobe Firefly will change it and you just
22:49
go, whoa. It
22:51
happened within seconds and normally an
22:53
artist would take like hours
22:56
to create something like this, but
22:58
then novices like you and I can create this
23:00
within seconds. And it's insane.
23:03
I mean,
23:05
I skipped art classes back in school.
23:08
I was never a big fan of it. I still
23:10
regret it to this day. I wish I stayed, but
23:13
back then, if there was
23:15
one bad habit I had, it was
23:17
skipping art classes. Now that I am
23:19
a little bit older, I wish I had taken it and
23:22
understood some of the styles and learn
23:24
about different art forms and
23:27
various different things so that I
23:29
could take more advantage of Adobe Firefly and
23:31
other tools like Mid-Journey, which is
23:33
I think a little bit more technical in terms of
23:35
creating images because you have
23:37
to use technical details and
23:40
prompt engineering to create images from scratch,
23:42
which again, is a little bit more
23:44
advanced, but Adobe Firefly is
23:46
something that I think everyone should check
23:49
out. It's free, easy to use. Just
23:51
upload a photo of yourself and just play
23:53
around with it. You'll be amazed at what
23:55
you can do, even if you have no
23:57
Photoshop skills at all, like I. Like,
24:00
I have no skills whatsoever and I could
24:02
make some crazy stuff. So go
24:05
check out Adobe Firefly. And
24:07
speaking of images, a fun tool I
24:10
want to recommend. I kind of mentioned this earlier, which
24:12
was Mid-Journey, but another one
24:14
that is a little bit easier to use
24:17
and kind of uses a similar feature set
24:19
is called Bing Image Creator. So
24:22
again, if you are familiar with
24:24
chat GPT, you might have heard
24:26
of Dolly, which is their engine
24:28
for creating images. And
24:30
Bing Image Creator is kind of like their
24:32
nice UI to use that engine to make
24:34
images from scratch. Now, if this all
24:36
sounds super technical to you, basically
24:38
imagine having like a
24:41
Google form where you
24:43
just type in a bunch of things of
24:45
what you want to be creating and then
24:47
you press a button and then all of
24:49
a sudden you get the image that you're looking for. So you
24:51
literally could type in, hey, I want
24:53
to see an elephant flying in
24:55
the sky wearing a pink dress
24:59
and that's it. And
25:01
then all of a sudden it will create that
25:03
image for you, right? But then you can get
25:05
into a lot more detail. So for example, you
25:07
could say, hey, create an
25:09
image of a elephant flying in the
25:11
sky in the art of
25:14
Da Vinci or
25:16
Rembrandt or Vermeer or whatever
25:18
artist. This is when
25:20
I wish I'd taken art classes because I could
25:22
have been a lot more creative, but that's beside the
25:25
point. Anyways, I want you to
25:27
check out Bing Image Creator and
25:29
just start to play around with it. You'll
25:31
actually be surprised how much of what
25:33
you create will end up being used
25:35
in either your presentations, your webinars. I
25:38
use a lot of those images in
25:40
presentations now and a lot of people can't tell that they're
25:43
AI generated, which is really cool. So
25:46
go check out Bing Image Creator. Again, I have a
25:48
lot more tools that I recommend in the
25:51
live webinar that you can access in
25:53
the recording. Somewhere on the
25:55
show notes there's a link there. Okay.
25:58
So the final thing I want to mention here before we go, we
26:00
wrap up is that one of the other major
26:02
trends that I mentioned in the webinar
26:04
is health and wellness. So, earlier
26:07
I mentioned how I've been using the
26:09
Aura Ring to track my
26:11
health metrics and I've been
26:13
using that data to essentially
26:16
optimize my health, feel better, have more energy,
26:18
sleep better, and so on. And
26:20
I think that's going to be a major trend
26:22
for this year as more people become more aware
26:24
of it. And to
26:27
give you a funny story how early I was and
26:30
how timing is so important, so
26:33
Asian Efficiency actually started in 2011 as
26:36
a passion project. And one
26:38
of the things I was very aware of
26:40
back then is how important sleep was. And
26:43
so even though A started
26:45
as a passion project, I had this desire
26:47
to turn it into a business, especially after
26:50
so many people emailed me
26:53
and said, hey, I really like your blog contents,
26:55
do you have any courses or programs for sale?
26:57
And I said, no, this is all for free,
26:59
this is just a passion project. But I kept
27:01
getting those emails, I said, oh,
27:03
maybe there's something there, maybe I could turn this into
27:06
a business and make this a full-time living. I had
27:08
this like imposter syndrome almost where
27:10
I was like, I don't know if
27:12
I can do this, but let's see what
27:14
happens. And so
27:16
I created this course, it was called Better
27:18
Sleep back then. This is 2012,
27:21
about a year, year and a half later.
27:24
And to kind of give you some
27:26
perspective, we had probably somewhere
27:28
between 8 to 10,000 people
27:31
subscribe to the newsletter. And
27:34
I felt this course called Better Sleep
27:37
to help people optimize their sleep because
27:39
I know, and again, this is 2024 now,
27:42
I still talk about it, but I was talking about
27:44
it back then in 2012, how important sleep was.
27:48
And back then, it wasn't as widely
27:50
accepted as it is today. And
27:54
so guess what, I launched the course,
27:57
I sold it for like $20 or something. And
28:00
I just saw tumbleweeds flying
28:02
by. Nobody bought this course.
28:04
It just didn't resonate with them because it was just, there
28:07
was no awareness around how important sleep was, even
28:09
though I kind of mentioned it on the blog
28:11
and so on. And I still believe
28:13
to this day, that's one of the
28:15
biggest force multipliers, hence one of the
28:18
major focuses within the T framework, within
28:20
the energy pillar itself is optimizing your
28:22
sleep and having routines around that as
28:24
well. So all of this
28:26
is to say that, back then it was a little bit
28:28
too early, but now as there's more
28:30
conscious awareness around the effects
28:33
of alcohol, the effects of lack
28:35
of sleep and how alcohol affects
28:37
sleep, I've noticed personally
28:39
here, Austin, Texas, fewer people are
28:42
drinking alcohol every single year. Maybe
28:44
it's a function of getting older, but
28:46
also I think it's a function of people becoming
28:49
more aware of how alcohol
28:51
just has negative effects on your overall
28:53
health and especially on your sleep. But
28:56
even then, as we just have
28:58
more awareness around our health with wearing an
29:01
Apple watch and other fitness trackers like the
29:03
Ora rain, whoop, and
29:05
other things, people are just becoming more aware of
29:08
all the factors that are affecting our
29:10
sleep. And so I think maybe
29:13
we haven't quite hit the tipping point yet
29:16
where it's like mainstream mainstream. Like
29:18
I always use my parents as kind of like
29:20
a barometer for that and I don't think we've
29:22
kind of hit that benchmark yet. But
29:25
my brothers who are younger than me are very
29:27
well aware of it, even though they don't wear
29:30
fitness trackers whatsoever. They like to
29:33
go to the gym, they like to work out, they like
29:35
to eat healthy and be great at work, but
29:37
they also starting to realize like how important sleep is even
29:39
though they're in their mid 20s. And
29:42
so if I think about my mid 20s, yeah,
29:45
that was a decade ago, but I was like
29:47
one of the nerds figuring out how to be
29:50
a better performer, be superhuman productive and that kind
29:52
of stuff and they are not in
29:54
that category whatsoever. So
29:57
all of this to say, yes, health and well.
30:00
Wellness is going to be important this year. I
30:02
think if you're not using a fitness tracker
30:04
already, that's something that I would encourage you
30:06
to do. I
30:09
personally like to wear the aura ring just because
30:11
I like to wear mechanical watches. I
30:14
don't like the idea of buying an Apple watch for
30:16
that reason because I don't want to wear two watches
30:19
or one in replacement of
30:21
something else. That's
30:23
something I mentioned in the live webinar as the
30:25
main action item is, hey, if you're not using
30:27
a fitness tracker right now, I
30:29
highly recommend you get one because
30:32
the more awareness and insights you have,
30:34
even if you just track and do
30:36
nothing else, tracking is done on
30:38
your behalf. You
30:40
don't even have to do anything other than wear the thing. You'll
30:43
start to notice that a lot of behaviors change
30:46
over time. From my own
30:48
personal journey and experience, from just wearing my
30:50
aura ring, I didn't set out to drink
30:52
less. I didn't set out to optimize my
30:54
sleep and do all these things. I
30:57
didn't set out to do a lot more
30:59
stretching throughout the day and breathing exercises
31:01
and mindfulness. I didn't intend
31:04
to do any of these things that are now
31:06
regular habits and routines that I do throughout the
31:09
day and as part of my lifestyle and all,
31:11
and something that I always look for in other
31:13
people that I hang out with or associate with
31:15
and stuff like that. But
31:18
it all started because I just started
31:20
tracking and noticing different patterns of my
31:22
sleep. Oh, I had a
31:24
drink last night and now my sleep is terrible.
31:28
Oh, okay, whatever. And then
31:30
it happened again a week later. And
31:32
then it happened again two weeks later and I go, ah, maybe
31:35
there's something there. Maybe having even
31:37
one glass of wine throws
31:40
off my HRV and
31:42
my quality of sleep. Huh,
31:45
let me run an experiment and lo and behold,
31:47
it turns out to be, yes, even one drink
31:50
or even a few sips can
31:52
affect and throw everything off. And so
31:55
all of this is, hey, I still have a cocktail,
31:57
a glass of wine every now and then. them
32:00
completely stopped. I do
32:02
enjoy those drinks I've been having done, especially
32:04
socially with people. But funny
32:06
enough, I have all this stuff at home and I never drink
32:08
it. It's only for guests when they come
32:10
over. And so slowly, I've
32:13
been giving away a lot of my liquor,
32:15
use them as gifts when I visit people's
32:17
homes. But that's a different story. Anyways,
32:20
to conclude this podcast for today, all I
32:22
want to say is yes, health and wellness
32:24
is a big thing. Again,
32:27
AI is here to stay. I want you to
32:29
be on top of it, kind of get familiar
32:31
with it to be honest. I use chat GPT
32:33
instead of a Google search next time and I
32:35
think you'll be surprised what you'll
32:37
discover and how much faster things
32:39
will be. And then again, there's all
32:41
these cool productivity apps that are out there. But
32:44
if I had to give my top list, I
32:46
mentioned them in the live webinar that you can check out. So
32:48
I appreciate you listening to the
32:50
productivity show. We'll be back again next
32:53
week. We always have new topics, new content. But
32:55
if you have something that you want me and
32:57
Brooks to cover on the
33:00
podcast, email us at podcast at
33:02
asianefficiency.com. We're always looking for ideas.
33:04
We're always looking for feedback. We're
33:06
always looking for ways to be in touch
33:09
with our listener base and community. So feel
33:11
free to reach out to us. And we
33:13
really appreciate a positive review on Apple Podcasts
33:16
on Spotify. It helps us grow the show.
33:18
And if you found this episode
33:20
helpful, share it with your friends, share it with
33:22
a coworker, someone that you think could benefit from
33:24
this. Or if they need to be more productive,
33:27
tell them to subscribe to the productivity show and
33:30
offer them one specific episode that you
33:32
think would help them the
33:34
most. That's oftentimes how we get most people
33:37
to stick around is because they listen to one
33:39
episode and go, oh yeah, this was awesome. What's
33:42
next? So thank you. Thank you. Thank
33:44
you. Thank you. I'm really excited for
33:46
2024. We're only a few weeks in,
33:49
but I'm excited for what's coming up for this
33:51
year. And I'm excited that you're joining
33:53
me on this ride. And if
33:55
you aren't an email subscriber yet, go to
33:57
Asian efficiency.com. Subscribe there as well. and
34:00
I'll see you again next week.
