0:59

1:02
life. And guess what? Today is a Wisdom
1:04
Wednesday episode. So that means you
1:06
are going to get actionable productivity advice in
1:08
less than 10 minutes. Now today
1:10
we're exploring a simple, yet profoundly
1:12
impactful tool, and that is Checklist.
1:16
Now back around 2010 or so, I was traveling enrolled.
1:20
I was a digital nomad at the
1:22
time. I lived in Bangkok. I lived
1:25
in Budapest, Hungary, Ho Chi
1:27
Minh City, Vietnam, and I
1:29
traveled to many countries like Taiwan,
1:31
Portugal, Poland, and Singapore. But
1:34
no matter how seasoned of a traveler
1:36
I became, there was always that nagging
1:38
feeling whenever I was on a plane. Did
1:40
I forget something? And more
1:42
often than not, I did. That's
1:45
when I turned to a really simple
1:47
yet powerful tool, which we all are
1:49
familiar with, and that is the Checklist.
1:52
Now you might have heard about
1:54
Checklist before, but are you actually
1:56
implementing it? And that's oftentimes where
1:58
I see most people struggle when they first come to
2:00
us. They understand a concept
2:02
or an idea, but
2:04
they struggle with implementing it. Now
2:07
every time I was traveling, I find that
2:09
my checklist got better and more refined. Sometimes
2:11
I will forget something and then I would
2:13
go, oh yeah, I need to
2:15
add that to my checklist. And then my checklist
2:18
got bigger, longer, more refined, but
2:20
at the same time, it allowed me
2:22
to go from spending two, three hours a
2:24
day packing for a trip through
2:27
literally getting it done in less than 30
2:29
minutes. So if you think
2:31
about, for example, airline pilots, professionals who navigate
2:33
the skies every day, even
2:35
with years of experience,
2:38
they always follow a pre-flight
2:40
checklist. Why? Because make
2:42
sure that the service and
2:45
experience is consistent. Make
2:48
sure that everything is safe, right? And
2:50
safety of the passengers. And also
2:52
it gives everybody peace of mind knowing that everything was taken
2:54
care of. So if
2:56
pilots with their expertise and routine
2:58
can rely on checklists, why
3:01
shouldn't we? And checklists
3:03
can be game changers beyond travel
3:05
or aviation. They can
3:07
streamline your morning routine, declutter
3:10
your workspace, make project
3:12
management a whole lot easier. I mean,
3:14
they're so useful and powerful for
3:16
so many different things. And
3:18
it's really about externalizing ideas and
3:21
memories so that you free
3:23
up mental space for creativity, for
3:25
deep thinking, and actually being
3:28
able to get stuff done
3:30
with clarity. And
3:32
as David Allen, founder of Getting Things Done, always
3:34
like to say, and I'm going to butcher his
3:37
quote, but he always likes
3:39
to say something along the lines of like, your
3:41
brain is not for storing ideas, it's for creating
3:43
things. Here are a few
3:45
areas where you can immediately start implementing
3:47
checklists. One, think
3:50
about your daily routines. Outline
3:52
your morning routine. Outline your evening routine.
3:54
Outline all the routines you have going
3:56
on to make sure that you're maximizing
3:58
your time and energy. effectively. Second,
4:02
work projects. Think about
4:04
stuff you do every day or every week
4:06
or maybe once a month. Tasks
4:09
that are recurring. Those
4:12
are great tasks to turn
4:14
into checklists. And
4:16
anytime you do them, you can follow
4:18
a checklist and make sure that you're
4:20
doing it effectively and streamlined. Third,
4:23
grocery shopping. Never, ever
4:26
forget an item again when you go to
4:28
the grocery store and also make shopping a
4:30
whole lot faster and easier. Four,
4:33
meeting preparations. Outline
4:36
key points and objectives to make sure
4:38
that your meetings are more productive and
4:40
concise and making sure that
4:42
the experience is streamlined for everybody. Five,
4:46
anytime you have people coming over, have a
4:48
checklist of things that need to be done
4:50
like cleaning your place, putting valuables away, organizing
4:53
areas of your home, ordering
4:55
certain food and drinks, and the list goes on
4:57
and on and on. You get the idea.
5:01
Checklists are helpful and they allow you to be
5:03
more organized. Integrating checklists
5:05
into these different areas, you're not
5:07
just organizing tasks, you're setting up
5:10
a system that propels you
5:12
towards efficiency and effectiveness. So
5:15
here's your action item for today. Identify
5:18
one area of your life that
5:20
feels overwhelming or cluttered. It
5:23
could be your workday routine, your content
5:25
creation process, or even your weekly
5:27
meal planning. Create
5:29
a checklist for this area and commit
5:31
to using it for the next week.
5:34
And I want you to observe the
5:36
clarity it brings and the time
5:38
it is saving you. And once you
5:41
start to see that, I think you'll become
5:43
a believer and you'll start to implement this
5:45
in other areas of your life. Remember,
5:48
the power of a checklist lies
5:50
in its simplicity and its
5:52
ability to make the invisible visible. And
5:55
oftentimes the forgotten remembered. It's
5:58
about giving yourself the gift of. Into
6:00
space so you can focus
6:02
what truly matters. And.
6:04
That is it for today's wisdom when say episode
6:06
think you a much were listening to approach have
6:08
shown being part of Asian fusion he. Please.

6:16
Grow. To show and get more awareness
6:18
out there elsa share with people who
6:20
might need to implement a checklist. And
6:23
that I hope you enjoy it. Now. See
6:25
you next week!
