In this episode, we meet Pierre Mainguy, President and Co-Founder of Community First, a non-profit community development organization leading social innovation initiatives to better the lives of villages in rural Cambodia.
To date, they’ve been able to provide clean water to over 10,000 people for a cost per life saved & improved of $2.50.
Pierre and colleagues installing an aquaponics system in Sen Sok, Cambodia.
They are helping communities preserve their water table by training them at water-efficient farming techniques and building water collection systems – including the emerging sustainable technique of Aquaponics farming, which creates a symbiotic ecosystem between tanks of fish and produce gardens.
Community First built this Sewing Center to provide economic growth for villagers.
Inside Community First’s sewing center
Pierre discusses his journey from a career in early stage funding and venture capital to building schools, wells and sustainable farms in remote villages in Cambodia.
I hope you’ll join me for this important episode, and be inspired by Pierre’s work. I know for me personally, Pierre has piqued my interest not only in aquaponics – but also to commit more effort to making a difference in the world.
