This week on the Queer Calling Podcast, I am delighted to interview Rev. Mykal O' Neal Slack. Rev. Mykal is an openly Queer, Black and Trans pastor within the UU tradition, and currently lives in Durham, North Carolina. He serves as the community minister for worship and spiritual care for black lives of Unitarian Universalism and is one of the co-founders of the Transforming Hearts Collective

This interview was a gift that I did not know I needed. We talk about Rev. Mykals grandmother, his journey from CUNY law school to witnessing Lavender Light perform, and his coming out as trans by sending an all-student and staff email to his entire graduate school. We talk about doing the hard work of finding and reckoning with ourselves. This interview moving and hopeful, I hope you enjoy it.

Trans and queer pastors exist. We havealwaysbelonged to faith based communities and movements but increasingly queer people are leading them too. What does it mean to be queer and follow the call to ministry? What does it look like to resist transphobia from the pulpit? Keshia Pendigrast an alum and former recruiter for Union Theological Seminary, chats with trans and queer faith leaders from various traditions about their journeys to self-acceptance, faith leadership and healing.

This podcast is for everyone.
