In the heart of downtown Topeka, amidst the quiet hum of city life, The GYPSY finds solace in a local bookstore. As he enters, the familiar scent of paper and ink greets him like an old friend. The bell above the door chimes softly, announcing his arrival to the store owner, a fellow guardian of countless stories bound within the pages of books.

As they talk, The GYPSY delves into a painful chapter from his past. It's a tale of trauma and loss that unfolded during his teens. Returning from college with the anticipation of reconnecting with his childhood treasures, he was met with a devastating revelation – his mother, in a delusional act guided by what she believed was a divine calling, had burned his cherished comic book collection.

The comics were not merely collectibles; they were a part of The GYPSY's identity, a tangible representation of his journey from adolescence to adulthood. The flames had consumed not just paper and ink but a piece of his history connected to another traumatic event just a couple of years earlier that had transformed his life, the life of his sister and his mother forever.

In this quiet bookstore, the shelves lined with stories of heroes and villains, The GYPSY finds an empathetic ear. The pain of the lost collection is interwoven with the impending farewell to his mother. The owner, perhaps a confidant and friend, provides a comforting presence in this moment of vulnerability.
