Welcome back to the Runcast with
0:02
me, your host and fellow runner, John

0:06
KEXP, which provides these podcasts
0:09
and you, the donors out there, I assume

0:16
much. You go to kexp.org for more information
0:18
on how to do that or listen to my show or check out
0:20
the archive. It is a week. I'm
0:22
not going to lie to you. This has been difficult for me.
0:24
I actually posted about this. If you follow
0:27
me, DJ John Richards, I hope
0:29
you do on Instagram. I told a little story about
0:31
just letting everything catch up to me. And
0:34
I haven't talked a little bit about running. I said, I was
0:36
running a hundred miles per hour and suddenly
0:39
I had to stop. So as I
0:41
record this, I'm also in
0:43
that struggle and hearing from so many
0:45
people who also struggle with depression.
0:48
With dealing with grief, my sister passed away not
0:50
too long ago and it really hit me how much
0:53
that community and music really
0:55
does heal. And the other thing that heals is
0:58
running. And that's what this runcast
1:00
is all about. I'm starting to get back
1:02
to running where it's not sporadic around
1:05
the injury. I've been taking care of
1:07
my calf. Thanks for all the well wishes. You
1:09
fellow runners know a calf is like a, like
1:12
someone's sick in your family. You're checking in. Hey,
1:14
how's your buddy, the calf? Well, you know,
1:16
okay. Getting better. I'm going
1:19
to PT and I'm doing all the exercises and
1:21
I got my mileage back up, did five
1:24
miles and some change just before I sat
1:26
down to record this. Yeah, I'm a little
1:28
sore, but I'm on
1:29
it and I'm headed towards a big race. I hope
1:32
in the spring as I've talked about, because I need
1:34
that goal. I need that running. I need that community.
1:37
I know all those things will help heal
1:40
through music. So let's get to it
1:42
and start on the trail as I'm starting

40:13
ah, ah, ah... It's
40:18
dark... ...not
40:20
light... ...there's a
40:22
burning when I close my eyes...
40:27
2 hearts... ...come
40:30
behind... ...every day was
40:32
spent... ...searching for your
40:34
almond paradise... ...sick
40:37
in your arms... ...and my worthy of
40:39
your choice... ...I don't know... ...sick
40:45
in your arms... ...and my worthy of
40:48
your choice... ...I don't know... ...I
40:58
still with a heart... ...I
41:04
reach out for you... ...and
41:07
you... ...and
41:10
you... Ah, ah, ah, ah,
41:12
ah... Say
41:19
it once again Ah,
41:22
ah, ah, ah...
41:25
Ah, ah, ah, ah,
41:27
ah... Say
41:55
it once again You
42:30
don't need a look so appalled
42:34
I take care of it all
42:36
It's madness enough
42:40
Don't pick up, I just got to
42:43
say I'm happy
42:45
as can be I'm melting
42:48
away Don't
42:50
get mad at
42:53
me I'm just
42:56
sleeping lightly
43:00
Cause it's my big
43:03
day And I'm
43:06
wasting it away
43:10
Gladly Aerosols
43:15
drifting through the halls
43:17
that hide us above
43:21
Have I really lowered the
43:24
bar Or am I
43:26
working hard inspirational?
43:31
Why be bad?
43:34
Cause I'm not
43:37
feeling so good I
43:41
miss my big
43:45
day And I'm
43:48
not leaving summer
43:50
No way I
43:53
stay in the summer Night
43:56
time with the windows down Flakes
43:58
down in the corner Must
44:01
have gone better right this time
44:03
I'ma push it further Don't
44:06
hit me when it all falls down I'm
44:08
standing in the door, I'm begging you
44:11
Just don't get mad at me I'm just sleeping
44:13
lightly Cause
44:23
it's my big
44:26
day And I'm
44:28
wasting it
44:31
away Don't get
44:34
mad at me
44:38
I'm just sleeping
44:40
lightly Cause
44:44
it's my big
44:46
day And I'm
44:50
not even sober
44:54
Let's stay in the summer
44:57
Like time when the window's
44:59
down Face down in the corner Must
45:02
remember to rise this time
45:05
I'ma push it further Don't
45:07
hit me when it all falls down I'm
45:12
standing in the door, I'm begging
45:15
you Just don't get mad I
45:20
caught a clean line, seek no
45:22
rest Wonderful forever, it's it forever
45:24
yet Just the old soul for
45:27
the elephant gun Put a down phone
45:29
sign, heard the sudden sun Keep
45:31
clear, watch it for fear Never
45:33
show the call, I'm the engineer From the blue
45:36
S-light till the indigo dawn
45:38
Black space got a whole life to retcon
45:44
But I'm still getting it done I'm
45:50
still getting it done But
45:55
I'm like Johnny Deon Still
46:00
swinging I'm
46:11
in it, it's in me Telling
46:14
me to throw my body into the sea Will
46:16
the beast plus chains rain for a millennium?
46:18
Get some, that would shove me in stitches
46:22
To the back of my leg, some ericled dragon
46:24
Will get into the dregs, well I can't
46:26
survive The men in the sweet clothes
46:29
get still me And I'm in it But
46:35
I'm still getting it done I'm
46:40
still getting it done But
46:45
I'm like Johnny Beyong Still
46:51
rolling I'm
46:57
still getting it done I'm
47:11
still getting it done But
47:15
I'm like Johnny Beyong Still
47:21
swinging I'm still
47:23
getting it done I'm
47:27
still getting it done I'm
47:29
still getting it done I'm still
47:31
getting it done I'm still
47:33
getting it done I'm still getting it
47:36
done Ghost of Room, still
47:38
