Welcome back to the Runcast with

0:02

me, your host and fellow runner, John

0:04

Richards, also the host of The Morning Show on

0:06

KEXP, which provides these podcasts

0:09

and you, the donors out there, I assume

0:11

you all are, you pay

0:13

for these podcasts. So I appreciate you all very

0:16

much. You go to kexp.org for more information

0:18

on how to do that or listen to my show or check out

0:20

the archive. It is a week. I'm

0:22

not going to lie to you. This has been difficult for me.

0:24

I actually posted about this. If you follow

0:27

me, DJ John Richards, I hope

0:29

you do on Instagram. I told a little story about

0:31

just letting everything catch up to me. And

0:34

I haven't talked a little bit about running. I said, I was

0:36

running a hundred miles per hour and suddenly

0:39

I had to stop. So as I

0:41

record this, I'm also in

0:43

that struggle and hearing from so many

0:45

people who also struggle with depression.

0:48

With dealing with grief, my sister passed away not

0:50

too long ago and it really hit me how much

0:53

that community and music really

0:55

does heal. And the other thing that heals is

0:58

running. And that's what this runcast

1:00

is all about. I'm starting to get back

1:02

to running where it's not sporadic around

1:05

the injury. I've been taking care of

1:07

my calf. Thanks for all the well wishes. You

1:09

fellow runners know a calf is like a, like

1:12

someone's sick in your family. You're checking in. Hey,

1:14

how's your buddy, the calf? Well, you know,

1:16

okay. Getting better. I'm going

1:19

to PT and I'm doing all the exercises and

1:21

I got my mileage back up, did five

1:24

miles and some change just before I sat

1:26

down to record this. Yeah, I'm a little

1:28

sore, but I'm on

1:29

it and I'm headed towards a big race. I hope

1:32

in the spring as I've talked about, because I need

1:34

that goal. I need that running. I need that community.

1:37

I know all those things will help heal

1:40

through music. So let's get to it

1:42

and start on the trail as I'm starting

1:44

to train a little bit on trail running. This is Marco
