0:50

defense stout. Probably. Tough to set a

0:52

screen on. Make sense based on the

0:55

die his hands are always up deflections.

0:57

It makes sense because Mcdonalds classic burgers

0:59

are hotter juice year and tastier than

1:01

ever before. So much so that hamburger

1:03

is on the loose. Now think about

1:05

soft pill we bought. That. She's perfectly

1:10

1:59

Morgan Rum Company, New York, New York. Before

2:02

we break down the Super Bowl with the Chiefs and

2:04

49ers with three-time Super Bowl winner Troy Aikman, I'll give

2:06

you my pick and my thoughts, a little history, and

2:09

how I came to my conclusion. It's

2:11

not super complicated. I'm picking the Chiefs because I

2:13

just can't pick against my homes a third time

2:15

in the same playoff season. I

2:17

just can't do it. And we'll talk a little bit about that at

2:19

the end. Now, if we

2:22

look at Kansas City

2:24

and their spreads in previous Super Bowls,

2:26

their first win against the Niners, they

2:29

were favored by one. The

2:31

next year against Tampa, where they got smoked, they

2:33

were favored by three, then it was Rams and

2:35

Cincinnati. And then last year, when they beat Philadelphia,

2:38

the Eagles were favored by a point and a

2:40

half. Looking at the line today, as

2:42

I've been in Vegas, I've seen it either two and

2:44

a half or two. Of course,

2:47

San Francisco favored. So

2:49

we've had 57 Super Bowls. How

2:51

about these numbers? You guys are good at this. There

2:54

were no totals, so there

2:56

was no over under play for the first Super Bowl.

2:58

So we've had 56 Super Bowls with

3:00

a total that you could bet on. It's

3:03

28 and 28 on over unders. Favorites

3:09

are 28 and 26 with two pushes and

3:12

one pick them in there. So

3:15

you dig through it and you're like, hey, I wonder how well the

3:17

favorite has done over the years. I wonder

3:19

how well the dogs have done. Three straight dogs

3:21

have covered. That includes Cincinnati plus

3:24

the four and a half and their loss against L.A. 23

3:26

to 20. So

3:28

if we look at Kansas City and who they've

3:30

been this season, we know that the offense has

3:32

been a big part of the story because you're

3:34

like, this is not what we expected. And certain

3:36

losses this season where you think, can I actually

3:38

write this team off, especially with well as Baltimore

3:40

had played. And some of the other teams are

3:42

still flirting with Buffalo had their own issues and

3:44

turned things around. We love Miami for a little

3:47

while. I've been flirted with the idea of Jacksonville,

3:49

which I immediately regretted and try to retract

3:51

as soon as I possibly could since they

3:53

had their issues because of injuries. So

3:56

the AFC at the top, it just felt like

3:58

you're always worried about the Chiefs, but they're. Just

4:00

a lot of momentum stories that made you think

4:02

will How much longer can I keep buying in

4:04

this team that is not even close to being

4:06

the same they as they were ah offensively in

4:08

the Superbowl seasons and even another season when they

4:10

losses Cincinnati. So if you look at their Super

4:12

Bowls the first one there were fifteen points scored,

4:14

the second one they were six and points scored

4:16

their third one they were first and points scored.

4:19

In. This year they're fifteenth and points scored.

4:21

So a completely different team also twelve

4:23

and for fourteen into fourteen and three.

4:25

But this year with six losses, we

4:27

know the defense's a big reason why

4:29

they're even here. Let's look at the

4:31

losses because when I went through these.

4:34

And. Remember watching every one of these games.

4:36

He just saw things that on paper you

4:39

like. I'm homes get the ball late in

4:41

the game. That's. Probably a rat have

4:43

been really work to help that way for

4:45

much of the season. First week against Detroit.

4:47

Most is what had happened for Kids City

4:49

to lose as many games. By the way,

4:51

first week against sure they lose know Calcio.

4:53

Chris Jones their down twenty one twenty on

4:55

downs. Ah, There's also a pick six

4:58

off at various tony on a tip pass

5:00

to get a pick six. Those two guys

5:02

out there and yet kids, a city still

5:04

had the football chants late. And then

5:06

they turn over on downs as number one

5:09

in one of their six losses. Denver. Week

5:11

Eight Five turnovers. mom's had the flu His

5:13

Qb rating of fifty nine point one is

5:15

the second lowest of his career so that

5:18

was a bunch of factors know laid down

5:20

situation there to cigarette smoke as the five

5:22

turnovers. Week eleven they lose the Philadelphia Philadelphia.

5:24

That point it clinched one that commence but

5:27

at that point had the best single record

5:29

in the Nfl Second ten. One.

5:31

Fifty to go. Mbs

5:33

drops of fifty one yard touchdown. he

5:35

was clear. Now granted you know maybe

5:37

he's tackle that the waterfalls down to

5:39

get touched but they're probably win that

5:41

game. They turned over on downs a

5:43

second time on that last drive their

5:45

from home that season. Down.

5:48

Twenty One seventeen A lose the game. Green.

5:50

Bay Week Thirteen, Down. Twenty Seven, Nineteen.

5:53

My. Home's ends up with for

5:55

incompletions to end the game. But.

5:58

There was a we your pass

6:00

interference. On. M B as in this one

6:02

on a deep shot that may have wanted forum. Doesn't.

6:05

Matter their down a they would have to

6:07

get the two point conversion as well. Another

6:09

game that ends on downs with Mom's Buffalo

6:11

last week. Fourteen down, twenty to seven, we

6:13

know the place. Second: ten. Chelsea.

6:16

Lateral, so too could areas Tony for

6:18

a game winning touchdown. Always it looks

6:20

that way. Tony is called for office

6:22

of Offsides. Everybody loses their mind on

6:25

that one. So that's another game that

6:27

ends on downs. and then week sixteen

6:29

against Vegas. In that last it took

6:31

to defensive touchdowns, there was a late

6:33

touchdown scored by the Chiefs. To.

6:36

Make it better from twenty and saw Twenty

6:38

seven the scored Sony fourteen so scoreless little

6:40

the closer. But the reason I go to

6:42

overall those is that we actually saw something

6:44

from homes you're not used to seeing you'd

6:46

expect me deliver maybe and half of the

6:48

four times a turn over on downs, the

6:50

Denver losses, whatever I mean, Green Bay legitimately

6:52

beat him except for the pass interference things

6:54

again so smooth things are going to have

6:56

to happen. but that's how you look at

6:58

their six losses. I know it's. Very.

7:00

Easy for teams, especially ones that have losing records

7:02

and the coach comes in a camp the next

7:05

year goes. I know we had a one score

7:07

loss as you're just sort of like everybody in

7:09

the entire league. But. From a homes

7:11

to Not. Get. Those things done and

7:13

a have so many individual things of your

7:15

teacher any go well. that was weird and

7:17

that was weird. You just keep adding a

7:19

mop. It's. How you get to six losses

7:22

for team now that I'm to take the win?

7:24

The Superbowl. So the number that scares the hell

7:26

outta me though in taking the Chiefs. Is

7:28

We know that San Francisco loves their zone

7:31

blocking scheme for the runs and that you

7:33

have killed who's probably best blocking tight end

7:35

who just seems to love destroying people off

7:37

the edge and all the different things you

7:40

can do with Depot in Motion and Trent

7:42

Williams the best tackle in the game and

7:44

Mccaffrey who you don't really know what to

7:46

expect other than you expected, all with where

7:48

they want to use him in his versatility.

7:51

Can't cities thirty first in yards per carry

7:53

against sewn runs so you'd imagine they're going

7:55

to try to load the box tower that

7:57

slow it down. maybe the niners are looking ahead some

8:00

ball control here to keep the ball out of my home's

8:02

hands. But that would mean the corner

8:04

backs are going to just have to man up the

8:06

entire game and win their

8:09

matchups. And they have the corners

8:11

to do that. So the number that makes me

8:13

feel good is if you look at Kansas City

8:15

as they close the season against Diggs, Tyree, Kiljemar,

8:17

Chase, and Devontae Adams, those four receivers,

8:19

all number one options, all at the top of

8:21

list for the best receivers in the game, had

8:23

a combined 12 receptions for 128 yards. Kansas

8:27

City allowed the fourth fewest yards this

8:30

season, two receivers in the league. You

8:32

could come at me with his eight flowers numbers, five catches,

8:34

one 15, but the 30 yard touchdown was a weird play.

8:36

And then a busted coverage on the 54 yard

8:39

completion to him. And that was the one where

8:41

he actually got hit with a penalty, although his

8:44

day would get worse. San

8:46

Francisco has felt like the best team all

8:48

season long. I picked him this

8:50

summer to make it to the Super Bowl to face the

8:52

Bills. I was wrong on the AFC side. I

8:54

just, I guess I don't want to pick my homes every single

8:57

year, even though I feel like I'm probably going to, uh, basically

9:00

San Francisco took three weeks off in

9:02

October, Baltimore handed him an ass

9:04

kicking. That game was so dominant for

9:07

the Ravens that he almost just

9:09

kind of chalked it up to going, all

9:11

right, this was the premier matchup and Baltimore

9:13

absolutely handled them. But are you really

9:15

going to get five interceptions if they were to

9:18

play each other again in the Super Bowl? Like

9:20

it was Baltimore sitting here this week. I

9:22

might even pick San Francisco just because it's football.

9:24

And at this level, I don't think that game's

9:27

going to play out that way. If you played

9:29

it a hundred more times, but

9:32

I can't tell if San Francisco being

9:34

down in both playoff games to Detroit

9:37

and green Bay is

9:39

something that's good for party and

9:41

this team. There's a lot of pieces left from the last

9:44

time they matched up, but for purty, who clearly wasn't there,

9:46

it was Garoppolo when they played in the Super Bowl against

9:48

the Chiefs and lost late. Is

9:51

that that scar building that I talk about in

9:53

pro sports where you have to kind of go

9:55

through stuff and get those scars to prove how much

9:57

tougher you can be? Is that a good

9:59

thing? or is it a... Find at San Francisco

10:01

isn't really as dominant as

10:03

I have felt they are.

10:06

Throughout. The season with Just Ass Kicking said

10:08

they've handed out some of the better teams in

10:10

the league. I still think services

10:12

because really get. Okay, But my

10:14

home's has. Mentally.

10:17

Dominated me these last couple weeks. The Bills

10:19

thing was a bit of hey if the

10:21

Bills time and he picked him Baltimore. I

10:24

change my mind. that came all week long.

10:26

And. Then I came down to lox. Miami

10:28

didn't have enough guys defensively. Baltimore or Suny

10:31

Buffalo was missing so many people on that

10:33

side of the football, Baltimore's the best defense

10:35

in the league in they have all their

10:37

dues and by the way, that Baltimore defense

10:40

didn't unfathomable thing getting kinda seated upon fi

10:42

street possessions in the second half and shutting

10:44

about. We can talk about game planning and

10:46

trying to run the clock on the kind

10:48

of stuff, but that Ravens defense actually showed

10:51

up and it still wasn't enough. So.

10:53

If I'm being really honest about this

10:55

pic, Is I don't

10:58

know that I can go oh three

11:00

being it's the homes in the same

11:02

playoffs. But. I'm gonna be okay.

11:05

I'll. Be okay if I spend wrong as opposed

11:07

the other games like there's another game I was

11:09

a good about. Of all the years I've picked

11:11

the Superbowl. Where. I

11:14

remember the Eagles Pats match up.

11:17

Six. Years ago. And. I

11:19

was like souls against Bella Check and that

11:21

pass defense wasn't great body mean so I

11:23

knew it was somewhat of weakness. As

11:25

it is false. Really gonna beat Bella checks.

11:28

And. With Brady on the other side. And.

11:31

Then the Eagles put a five hundred and thirty eight yards of

11:33

offense. One that Super Bowl by the way. Have you ever could.

11:35

Fathom. the Patriots villages are going have six

11:37

hundred and thirteen yards breeze. gonna throw over

11:40

five hundred and they're going to lose a

11:42

Super Bowl. The Nick Foles is probably one

11:44

of the most unlikely explanations of a Super

11:46

Bowl you could ever have a source the

11:48

outcome. So when I got that one wrong,

11:50

our like, you know what? I.

11:53

Can live with that. And. Are you kidding?

11:55

They lost that game. And.

11:58

That's kind of how I feel with this one. She's.

12:01

Final Score: Twenty eight, Twenty. Abby

12:06

Superbowl To all who celebrate Prepared to

12:09

America's number one sport sport. If you're

12:11

like me, Super Bowl Sunday is all

12:13

about scoring the best seats on the

12:15

couch, grabbing your favorite football snacks, and

12:17

placing some super best. Okay, let's do

12:19

it for leg parlay. Just. Worked

12:21

on it. For different theories combined

12:24

into one. A plus Seven, Sixty

12:26

four pounds or. So. Alternate Spread

12:28

Chiefs plus seven and a half. Dozen.

12:31

Feel like it's fair? Okay, but what else we

12:33

have to do to get that work on that

12:35

kind of paths? This is the zag theory. This

12:37

is the zag against everybody. Our.

12:39

Own Todd Mcsherry beating this week Was talking

12:42

about the match up on the grounds and

12:44

Pacheco bitching of checkups. Everybody's on this Pacheco

12:46

over six and sixty seven and a half

12:48

rushing yards. Let's go under what zag on

12:50

it everybody night. Where is the film? Tell

12:52

us The film tells us to other things

12:55

that party will probably. Run. For over

12:57

twelve and a half yards so he with

12:59

me so far she's plus of them have

13:01

under Pacheco Russian total six, seven and a

13:03

half party over twelve an african yards which

13:06

feel like all I gotta do is get

13:08

one on third down and I'm in the

13:10

game. and then here's where all the numbers

13:12

tell you this might be the play brain

13:15

and are you under four and a half

13:17

catches? The Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs have

13:19

absolutely shut down. Top. Receiving

13:21

options it's one of the strength to this

13:23

team. it's were the most impressive numbers the

13:26

A look for any teams for any unit

13:28

in football season. The track record is not

13:30

good. Specially. Later on in the

13:32

season so I you can't afford to have party

13:34

over twelve have rushing yards, Pacheco under sixty seven

13:37

and a half and plus seven a half of

13:39

the cheese that as a seem right. Ten

13:41

dollar bet. Seventy.

13:43

Six dollars. That's.

13:46

The point. okay federal had so

13:48

many more ways than just that one for you

13:50

to end the season with a w or two

13:52

or three it's not only can you bet on

13:54

who will win a super bowl fifty eight but

13:56

fan who also has pets for which players who

13:58

scored a touchdown how many points will be scored

14:00

and as you know so much more. I've

14:02

been telling you this all season. If you're

14:34

This episode is brought to you by McDonald's best

14:36

burger ever. I was thinking about

14:38

the Hamburglar the other day. I was thinking about him

14:41

on defense, stout, probably tough to set

14:43

a screen on. Makes sense based on the

14:45

diet. His hands are always up, deflections. It

14:47

makes sense because McDonald's classic burgers are

14:50

hotter, juicier and tastier than ever before.

14:52

So much so that Hamburglar is on

14:54

the loose. Now think about this tasty

14:56

treat. Special sauce everywhere. A

14:58

soft pillowy bun. The cheese perfectly

15:01

melted on top of those

15:03

patties that are nice and juicy.

15:06

I don't really blame them for stealing these for a living. I

15:08

know it's a treat. These are truly

15:10

McDonald's best classic burgers ever. Or

15:13

in the words of the Hamburglar, robble,

15:16

robble. Grab McDonald's best burgers

15:18

ever before Hamburglar does at a McDonald's

15:20

near you. Joining us

15:22

now just before the Super Bowl, Hall of Famer,

15:24

three time Super Bowl champ, Super Bowl MVP and

15:27

Monday Night Football voice, Troy Aikman. Thanks for joining us,

15:29

Troy. What's up? Yeah, yeah, you bet. Thanks for having

15:31

me. So I think I've asked a version of

15:33

this question about a hundred times in all the years I've worked

15:35

with people that have played in Super Bowls and you get talked

15:37

about like, IA the preparation, what's the week like? But When

15:40

you look at Mahomes now playing in his fourth

15:42

one, like how different was it for you having

15:44

one under your belt? You know, having one and

15:47

kind of understanding what it was like and walking

15:49

out of the tunnel, taking the field in the

15:51

biggest game of the year. Well, I think that's

15:53

the, that's the advantage that Patrick Mahomes and those

15:56

that have played in the Super Bowl before have.

16:00

He. How does that felt? Ah, the playing

16:02

field? I don't think so. My first Superbowl.

16:04

We didn't have but a couple of guys

16:06

who had really had even much playoff experience.

16:09

You were going against the Buffalo team that

16:11

a plane the to prior. Super.

16:13

Bowls and and obviously we're able to win

16:15

that game. But. I think the

16:17

advantage is that my home's goes into

16:19

this game at least understanding what that

16:21

atmosphere is gonna be like, what his

16:23

body's gonna be feeling as he goes

16:26

into the game and. And

16:28

for a guy like Rock Party. You.

16:30

Know, I mean he's handled everything well have

16:32

to this point. But yeah it is a

16:34

different atmosphere and it's a different game as

16:36

as much as you wanna say. A

16:38

It's just like any other game. It it's

16:41

not. And the players know that you can

16:43

say that all you want, but they understand

16:45

that they're They're all week. They're. The

16:47

high they get it. I know that. You.

16:50

Know come Sunday night. There's.

16:52

Gonna be a quarterback. And. There's

16:54

going to be a team. That. Is

16:56

going to realize a childhood dream and from

16:58

a Homs he gets to do it again

17:00

it would be as third. Ah,

17:02

and I think that's exciting part as you

17:05

prepare during the week is knowing that within

17:07

just a few more days. Ah,

17:10

What? Your work so hard for. You.

17:14

Have a chance to figure out whether or not

17:16

your effort for good enough and and if you

17:18

achieved it. Is. My been impossible questions

17:20

even answer is it's just a reality but

17:22

I mean you even have you ever allowed

17:24

f you're playing through things like men what

17:26

wouldn't have been like of i never even

17:28

got one. I. You

17:30

know what I can imagine? I really

17:32

can't. You know, players? Yeah.

17:35

When I when I was playing, there

17:37

was a time where teams that had

17:39

won the Superbowl really struggled the following

17:42

year. And. They called it the

17:44

Superbowl Hangover and now seems like it's more

17:46

the team that loses that that struggles more.

17:48

but. I. Never understood that after

17:50

we won our first Superbowl because

17:52

the feelings are so amazing, sits

17:54

on like it's indescribable. I mean,

17:56

it's unlike anything else. The.

17:58

new experience in life. The

18:01

only thing that really compared to it for

18:04

me was the birth of my children. And

18:07

so when you experience something that feels

18:09

that good, man, you want to

18:11

go back and you want to do it again and

18:13

again and again. And so, you

18:16

know, they get a chance to see

18:18

what they're all about. And

18:20

those guys, you know, I think

18:22

of a guy like Dan Marino,

18:25

who, you know, made it

18:27

to the Super Bowl. But for as much

18:30

as he contributed to the NFL and

18:32

his place in history to

18:34

and gave so much to not have

18:37

experienced what it was like to leave

18:39

that field, having won a

18:41

Super Bowl. I hate it for all those players that

18:43

didn't get a chance to do that. But

18:46

you do have a little smile on your face, as

18:48

you say. Well, I say, you know, I am Marino,

18:50

you know, Jim Kelly, I beat him twice and he

18:52

lost four in the Super Bowl. And I hate it

18:54

for Jim, too. You know, there's others. Yeah,

18:57

I mean, not at the expense of me losing one.

18:59

I don't want that. But it

19:02

just if you've never felt it, you

19:05

really don't know what you're missing. And

19:07

there's a lot of players, a lot

19:09

of great players that have given so

19:12

much to the game that haven't had

19:14

that opportunity. When we

19:16

look at Mahomes, you know, it's still early

19:18

in his career, despite some of the lofty

19:20

conversations that we have him in. And the

19:22

idea that I think a couple of weeks

19:25

ago, I said that I'm open to

19:27

the idea that he could potentially catch

19:29

Brady's resume, which still seems impossible. But

19:31

just his ability, you know, you

19:33

played the position at the highest level, his

19:36

ability. Like, what what

19:38

list is he on for you as far

19:41

as just pure talent at the position? Well,

19:43

as someone who played the position,

19:45

I have an appreciation for how hard

19:48

it is. You know, he

19:51

I think the great ones were able to do

19:53

that. I think of a guy like Joe Montana,

19:56

who, you know, was almost like a ballerina in

19:58

the pocket. You know, he made everything just

20:00

look effortless. And Mahomes

20:02

kind of has that ability

20:05

as well, that he just looks like he

20:07

doesn't look like he's exerting as much effort

20:09

as everyone else. Like he's just he understands

20:11

it and is playing at a little bit

20:13

of a different level. And I think that

20:16

what I see of Patrick is that

20:18

in the most critical moments, the game

20:20

really seems to slow down more

20:23

for him. And he just has a

20:25

patience and a calm in

20:27

the pocket and is able to put

20:30

the ball, he's got so much confidence in his

20:32

ability to put the ball wherever he wants to.

20:34

And he gives his receivers an opportunity to make

20:36

a play. I mean, even in the

20:38

AFC championship game, time after time, he

20:41

just lays the ball and, and

20:43

depends on his players being able to adjust

20:46

and make plays. And he puts it where

20:48

only his guy can get to it. And

20:50

it's pretty remarkable. And I know there's a

20:52

lot of conversation about where does Patrick rank

20:54

and where will he rank when it's all

20:56

said and done compared to Tom

20:59

Brady. And it's, it's hard to imagine. I

21:01

mean, I know when I was playing

21:03

the thought of winning four Super Bowls or

21:06

five to pass Bradshaw in

21:08

Montana, you know, seemed insurmountable. And

21:10

then, you know, of course, Brady

21:12

was able to win seven and, and it's hard

21:14

to imagine that anyone will be able to do

21:16

that. But, you know,

21:19

my guess is at some point in

21:21

time in history, somebody will. And Patrick

21:23

Mahomes has as good of an opportunity as

21:25

anybody, but I also know that it,

21:29

it doesn't just continue, you know,

21:31

it's like when

21:33

we won our third Super Bowl, I

21:35

did not think for a second that that was the end

21:37

for us. And yet we, we kind

21:39

of went off the cliff, you know, a year later

21:41

and we were done. I mean, our run was over.

21:43

And so it usually ends

21:45

before you realize it's ending. And,

21:48

you know, you'd think with

21:50

Mahomes that he'll continue to be a

21:53

contender, but again, you just never

21:55

know. What's the list

21:57

of just when you watch somebody throw the football?

22:00

where you're amazed. Like I think Elway is always

22:02

kind of on it. Marino

22:04

with the release, I think Rogers on some

22:07

of the velocity throws, he throws in the

22:09

red zone, it's just that the store was

22:11

so hard for even the best quarterbacks. Like

22:13

how long is the list that I think Mahomes is

22:16

also on? I mean,

22:19

I have a lot of respect for a lot of the guys

22:21

that you mentioned and those that

22:23

played guys I watched growing up

22:25

guys I competed against Elway, Marino,

22:28

Jim Kelly, Warren Moon. You

22:30

know, there's a lot of them, but I

22:34

probably am not as impressed. I'm

22:37

not as easily impressed, I guess is a better way

22:39

of saying it is what, you know, maybe some some

22:41

others are. I think I think

22:43

arm strength is vastly overrated.

22:45

What usually what usually impresses

22:48

me one is

22:50

I like the guy who is not worried

22:52

about his own stats that just wants to

22:54

win. And you can tell, I

22:56

mean, you can tell when you hear their comments,

22:58

you can hear when players make comments after games

23:00

as to where their heart really is, do they

23:02

really just want to win or

23:04

yeah, they want to win. But really, it has

23:06

more to do with whatever their numbers are. And

23:08

so that's what I admire most in

23:11

the quarterbacks that I respect. And

23:13

then the other part of that is that

23:16

the ability to put the ball where you

23:18

want to put it. And it's

23:20

not easy. I've always felt that

23:23

if you made a list of the

23:25

of the criteria that's important to play

23:28

the position, number one on that list

23:30

for me is accuracy, because you

23:32

can you can be tough, you can have a

23:34

great arm, you can be smart, you can you

23:37

can beat everything else. But if you can't put

23:39

the ball where you want to put it. Nothing

23:42

else matters. I mean, your job is to throw

23:44

the football and get it to the people who

23:46

can who can make plays for you. So that's

23:48

number one. And the guys that are

23:50

able to do that, I have

23:52

a real appreciation for. And both these guys can

23:56

do that, that are playing in this game. I

23:58

Think because of Purdy's profile. He you'll.

24:00

See the wins and then at one point

24:02

with the statue like I guess is going

24:04

to mvp. And then I think

24:06

because of the town of the roster with

24:09

the Niners in the fact that in a

24:11

Shanahan is so well respected with the system

24:13

it would he does sources is play calling.

24:15

I'm it me because his to News Thirty

24:17

Troy where. Else he gets this one

24:19

this weekend. it's like okay now we're allowed all say

24:21

he's one of the better quarterback to leave, but how

24:23

do you view him? Yeah. And I'll

24:26

they do. I don't know that they

24:28

will because he's done an awful lot

24:30

already. And it's it's what's you have

24:32

to overcome. When. You're taking on

24:34

the seventh round and and and that's that's

24:36

what he's fighting the now if he wins

24:38

a Super Bowl and. Anyone's another

24:41

super all I like. Slowly the you

24:43

know that facade goes away and that

24:45

people start to recognize him for what.

24:48

He really is, but there's no question on my

24:50

mind that if he were a first round pick,

24:53

We. Would be talking about him far differently than

24:55

were talking about right now, and there's no doubt

24:57

that he's got really good players around him. And.

25:00

If you're going to win in the Nfl, you

25:02

have to have that. Joe. Montana had

25:04

that Terry Bradshaw had that I had

25:07

that. And I think a lot

25:09

of times you overlook just how good a lot

25:11

of these players are that make up this roster.

25:13

But. There's. No doubt that he's got a

25:15

lot of good players around him, but when you

25:17

watch him, you can see that he puts the

25:19

ball where he has to put it and he

25:21

makes plays. Your. When he needs

25:23

to make them and so I hear

25:26

it, he's a game manager. Ah, I

25:28

don't agree with the term. But.

25:30

I think when you say that you,

25:32

you don't appreciate the key third down

25:35

throws in the things that a quarterback

25:37

has to do to sustain a drive.

25:39

And to score points out a big fan

25:41

I'm a big fan of Rockford is either

25:44

you the how the player. I. Think

25:46

is wired right? He. Wants to win

25:48

His team comes from them and all the things

25:50

that we just talk about a moment ago. I.

25:52

Feel that he possesses. I've. Had

25:55

a career long obsession. Were trying to

25:57

figure out disposition. You know? he had

25:59

dominate Foxworth. Recently and he was like

26:01

what the stuff the Peyton Manning did before

26:03

the snap was why use bait man is

26:05

like the rest stop throwing in the accuracy

26:07

analysis of is it but what he would

26:09

get us to do. In. A playoff

26:12

game defensively and then just give it

26:14

away. You know, a egos. That's the

26:16

part that I admit. That when

26:18

I'm watching, as long as I watch the sport

26:20

it's still really hard for us the didn't play

26:22

the position a truly understand the difference. like we

26:24

can look at three hundred yards a couple such

26:26

as been a dog as a guy's awesome and

26:28

appreciated a little differently and I don't mean down.

26:30

To like. You. Know call out a mixture

26:33

busy but I remember when you call that

26:35

Bears Saints game. And.

26:37

I. Really enjoyed the you were like

26:40

looking at the score again time and

26:42

situation kind of looking at the waitress

26:44

you strong support your light hey man.

26:47

We need we need to start raising

26:49

the level of risk. Essentially, I imagine

26:51

you notice that with almost everybody on

26:54

Sunday for a. Yeah. I

26:56

think that. You don't run this

26:58

fantasy world fantasy football and am and I

27:00

got it. You know that I'm in the

27:03

fans that are playing they they are about

27:05

touchdowns and yards and and all those things

27:07

but. I

27:09

could name quarterbacks I'm not going to. Bet.

27:13

That. Could. Never. On T that

27:15

could have one. And could one day. But.

27:18

They don't understand how to play the position. And.

27:20

What I mean by that is not

27:23

every situation society and if you gotta

27:25

if you if you're down. Twelve

27:27

points. In the late

27:29

in the third, you play differently as a

27:31

quarterback than you do. If you're up for

27:34

points, you know in the same point in

27:36

the game if your defenses planned great. And.

27:38

You've got a one possession lead and you're in the

27:40

red zone. Then. Appeal

27:43

goal is a big deal and you're not

27:45

taking chances with the football and so you

27:47

you go into a game with an idea

27:49

as to what you're going to have to

27:52

do if I brought party. I

27:54

would go into this game thanking. God

27:57

for sale. things unfold, but. chance

28:00

we're going to be able to score some points.

28:02

You know, this quarterback and this offense is capable

28:04

of getting high. And then you

28:06

wait and you see how it goes. And

28:09

then as the game goes along, you adjust

28:11

what you're thinking. And on third downs, depending

28:13

on what all is happening with score, how

28:15

your defense is playing, how are you playing,

28:17

how are guys, are they getting open? What's

28:19

the defense? All of those things,

28:21

that then affects what you're

28:23

doing yourself and who you're trying to

28:25

get the ball to and how much risk you're willing

28:28

to take. And so I watch

28:30

it and I see

28:32

a lot, I see some quarterbacks that,

28:36

that go out and play every play as

28:39

though it's, it's the first play of the game

28:41

and, and sling it

28:43

all over the place. And that's not how

28:45

you win football. And Tom Brady, the

28:48

reason he has won more football games

28:50

than anyone, one, he, he, he played,

28:53

he played a long time, but

28:56

I watched him on teams in

28:59

New England when they couldn't block anybody and

29:01

he would not take a sack in the game, would

29:04

not take a sack. And then you get to the

29:06

fourth quarter and you give yourself a chance

29:08

to make a play and win a game. That's

29:10

winning football. And there's a lot of other

29:12

quarterbacks you could put on some of those

29:14

teams. They wouldn't have come close to accomplishing

29:16

what they accomplished with Tom and quarterback. Yeah.

29:19

And I completely agree. And I, I love

29:21

that moment because I think, you

29:23

know, I, I understand the job and

29:25

you don't want to be negative, but it was just

29:27

such a great moment for me at home and everybody

29:29

else that was at home listening to somebody like you

29:31

would play the position just going like, okay, like this

29:34

is kind of what I need. And it's something I

29:36

always kind of look for because

29:38

of moments like that when you're teaching us. I

29:40

want to, I want to talk prep

29:42

here a little because you're on these

29:45

Cowboys teams, they're really good. So it's not like you want

29:47

to change who you are, but you

29:49

also realize that they have all this extra

29:51

prep time for you, depending on whether it

29:53

was Buffalo or it's Pittsburgh or something like

29:55

that. How do you balance going? Let's not

29:57

deviate too much from, from, from what I've

29:59

done. to get here, but let's

30:01

also realize that they're really good and they're really smart

30:03

and they have all such a prep. Like how do

30:06

you balance staying true to who you are with also

30:08

wanting to maybe throw a wrinkle in there that they're

30:10

not expecting? Yeah, it's a good question. And you

30:13

do run that risk and you

30:15

run that risk in

30:17

the regular season when you have a bye week. And

30:20

yet what's at stake is

30:22

not quite what's at stake when

30:24

you're going into a Super Bowl. So the

30:27

way most teams did it, it's the way

30:29

we did it. And I'm pretty confident in

30:32

saying it's the way all teams continue to

30:34

do it is you have that bye week.

30:36

And so you put in the offense, if

30:38

you've got any new wrinkles, you put it

30:40

in and you work on

30:42

those things while you're at your facility during

30:45

that off week and you go to the

30:47

host site, in this case, Las

30:49

Vegas, and you've got a pretty good feel

30:51

for what this game plan is. And you

30:53

know, like every week, there's going

30:55

to be a few different wrinkles. You're going

30:57

to see defensively and you're going to have

31:00

a few different wrinkles offensively as well. But

31:02

you really, you've got to

31:05

be careful in trying to, in

31:07

trying to put in some things that

31:09

give you a chance and then not

31:12

allowing the players to just go play.

31:14

Because this element that we talked about

31:16

earlier, you

31:18

don't know how players are going to react in

31:20

the Super Bowl. You just don't, especially the ones

31:22

that are handling the football. And it's what I

31:24

enjoy most about watching the Super Bowl is

31:27

how do, you know, for this game, I'm not

31:29

worried about Patrick, because as we mentioned, the games

31:31

he's played in and the Super Bowl he's played

31:33

in, but I'm interested in watching Brock

31:35

Purdy early in this game and how he throws the

31:37

ball and is he on target? You know, does he

31:39

show any nerves? Can you see

31:41

that as a viewer? But

31:46

that's the balance that I think all coaches

31:48

have to weigh and they all do as

31:51

to how much are we going to put in in order to

31:53

give us a few chances that we

31:55

might not otherwise have without overloading and

31:57

getting away from who we really are.

32:00

they are. Were you ever surprised? Maybe it doesn't even

32:02

have to be a Super Bowl because I know the first two got a

32:04

little aggressive on the point differential there, but

32:06

I don't know if there's an NFC game, maybe gets

32:08

the Niners or something where you're like, okay, you come

32:10

back to the sideline after a couple series going, wow,

32:12

I didn't expect this. Well,

32:15

I will say the first Super

32:17

Bowl that we were in, you know,

32:20

we got down early and

32:23

we were young. We were the youngest team in football and

32:26

I mean, everyone was losing their minds. I mean, that

32:28

we couldn't get, I mean, we couldn't get lined up.

32:30

We knew what the first 20 plays were on Friday.

32:33

We couldn't get lined up. I mean, it was, it

32:35

was, there was a lot of adrenaline and a lot

32:37

of emotion, you know, and, and

32:39

I thought, I remember going to the sidelines and

32:41

it was like a bad dream initially. And I,

32:44

and if you, if someone had told me right

32:46

then that this game's going to end in a

32:48

blowout, I would have said, no

32:51

doubt we're on the receiving end of the blowout, you

32:53

know, because it was, it was not good.

32:55

Uh, so that,

32:57

you know, obviously we were able to

32:59

regroup and pull it together. I will say

33:01

that I don't know if this was

33:03

your question, but we used

33:06

to watch San Francisco film every week.

33:08

Uh, nor turn our offensive coordinator in order,

33:10

because they were so good offensively with Steve

33:13

young at quarterback that we would see if

33:15

there was any plays they were running that

33:18

fit what we were doing offensively. You can't just

33:20

say, well, this team's doing this and it works

33:22

and then put it in your own offense because

33:24

it doesn't always match up with what you're doing

33:27

as an offense. But there was a play that

33:29

San Francisco had run, uh,

33:32

in, in the divisional round in

33:34

the playoffs and they were throwing the ball to

33:37

Ricky waters and they would run

33:39

these routes down the field. Ricky waters would come out

33:41

of the backfield. They'd hit him and they were getting

33:43

big games out of it. So we

33:46

liked the play. In fact, we

33:48

liked it so much. We put it in, in the

33:50

NFC championship game that week to

33:53

go against San Francisco's defense because what

33:56

they were doing was similar to the

33:58

defensive 49ers. had faced

34:00

the week before. We put it

34:02

in in our second NFC Championship game and

34:05

Emmett Smith had a huge game catch in the ball and

34:08

it was great. I mean, and so, you

34:11

know, we cherry pick plays, we do some things that

34:13

kind of work, but I don't even know if anyone

34:15

in San Francisco even knew that that's

34:17

what we had done. But their play that

34:19

we had seen the week before worked really well for

34:21

us against their defense and it helped us win the

34:23

game. So the last Super

34:26

Bowl question I have for you is because

34:28

I was going through the game logs and

34:30

clearly the first one, like I had forgotten

34:32

it was nine total turnovers for Buffalo. That's

34:34

that's a lot. The

34:36

listeners, that doesn't have very

34:38

often, you know,

34:40

and then you get up 30-13 in the

34:42

second one. All right. So if you go to

34:45

the Pittsburgh one, because they had moved the football,

34:47

all right, you're up 2017, you take a sack

34:49

on second down, it's third and 17, it's incomplete.

34:51

Was there any moment up 2017 with him getting

34:53

the ball back? We're here like, we, are

34:56

we in trouble here? No, perhaps the only

34:59

second half stress you've ever had in your

35:01

Super Bowl career. Yeah, we were, we

35:04

jumped up on them 10-0 and

35:06

things were rolling along pretty good. You know, they

35:08

were they were struggling. Neil had thrown an interception

35:10

early in that game and we had

35:13

taken a lead. It was

35:15

going as we had hoped.

35:18

And then they started to mount this

35:21

comeback. They had, they kicked an onside

35:23

kick after they scored after after one,

35:25

they got the ball. And

35:27

then the terrible towels came out prior to

35:29

that. We really thought it was predominantly a

35:31

cowboy fan fan base there at the stadium.

35:34

And then all of a sudden the terrible towels

35:36

come out and it felt like there were no

35:38

cowboys fans. It felt like it was all Steelers.

35:41

And I remember thinking, holy cow. I

35:43

mean, we're in a real dogfight. And

35:45

if, if, you know, Larry Brown was

35:47

the MVP of that game and he

35:49

got then his second interception in the

35:51

fourth quarter. And had he

35:54

not have made that interception, I'm

35:57

not certain we win that game. I mean, they had all

35:59

the momentum. And I know the, I

36:01

know the analytics says momentum's not a thing.

36:03

It's a thing. And it wasn't

36:06

that game. And so yeah,

36:08

a mistake by

36:10

Neil and their offense allowed us to win

36:12

the game, but that would have set that

36:15

up. The end of that game would have looked

36:17

a lot different and I would have been curious

36:20

to see how that might've ended if they had

36:22

been able to keep possession of the ball and

36:24

seeing what that drive, how it ended.

36:27

Right. And then Emmet two plays later into the

36:29

end zone and the rest is history. Before

36:31

we let you go, we talked to you

36:33

a year ago about eight

36:36

elite light logger. Again, it's a year later. And

36:38

by the way, the branding and the image and

36:40

the can and everything like you've done a terrific

36:42

job with this and I'm a, I'm a light

36:45

beer drinker. I don't like the

36:47

crazy fancy stuff, but you found a way

36:49

to take something a guy like me likes

36:51

and make it the highest quality product. What's

36:53

it been like a year later since we

36:55

talked? It's been fantastic. And I just hired

36:57

a, an amazing

36:59

talent to run things and

37:02

he's been incredible. Dave, David Rennie,

37:05

it's light beer made right. And you

37:07

know, what do I mean by that? And it's

37:09

what you said that I've been a light beer

37:12

drinker my entire life as well.

37:14

And I just felt, I

37:17

felt that it could be done better. And

37:19

I had a period of my life where

37:21

I, I'm very mindful of

37:23

what I consume. I work out hard, all

37:25

those, I do all the biohacking. I'm a

37:27

bit obsessed with all that stuff. And I

37:30

just, I wanted to make

37:32

a beer that complemented my lifestyle.

37:34

And so it's 90 calories, 2.6

37:37

carbs. It's a hundred percent organic

37:39

grains, but we don't add

37:42

any syrups or sugars or rice like

37:44

all the other light beers. And so

37:46

it is as clean and as, it's

37:49

a better for you light

37:51

beer. And yet I know

37:53

there's people out there who have tried some

37:55

light beers and they say, wow, this is

37:57

watered down. It doesn't have really much flavor.

38:00

to it. And yet a really

38:02

has a full body flavor. And it's

38:04

amazing. So I'm, I'm, I couldn't be

38:06

more proud of the liquid

38:08

itself, love the packaging. And

38:11

we're only in Texas, we are expanding, I can't

38:13

say exactly where, but it might be a place

38:15

just north of Texas. And, and that'll

38:17

be happening in the spring. And so

38:19

we're really excited. We're continuing to grow people

38:22

that have tried it love it. And

38:24

it really complements the people like myself

38:27

who are, who are active and

38:29

want to be able to celebrate life's victories

38:31

and enjoy those moments and yet not compromise

38:33

all the hard work and efforts that they

38:35

put in during the week. Well,

38:37

I'm really happy for you. And the funniest thing is,

38:39

you know, as I deal with our bookers being like,

38:41

Okay, you got Troy tomorrow morning, you're ready to go.

38:43

Okay, no problem. And it's like, if you need more

38:45

evidence that the phone is listening, as soon

38:48

as I was talking about you on text thread, and

38:50

then I just go to Instagram, and it's like for

38:52

you, and I was getting just, just

38:54

hit over the head with Aitman workout

38:56

videos. You know, I was

38:58

impressed with the goblet squats, I was impressed

39:01

with the different incline decal, you know, you

39:03

were, you were really put in, you had

39:05

a soundtrack to it, good editing crew there.

39:07

So keep up the good work, man. Hey, I

39:10

appreciate it. It means a lot. You

39:12

know, we're none of us are getting any younger. And

39:15

it doesn't get any easier. But, you know,

39:17

the slogan for the beer is no shortcuts, no

39:19

excuses. And it's really been my philosophy in life.

39:21

I think you've got to put the work in

39:24

if you're going to be good at anything. That's

39:26

what I tell my girls who are now in college, they

39:28

stopped listening to me a few years ago. But I'm

39:31

proud of what the beer represents. And hey, I'm

39:33

just trying to keep pace like everybody else. For

39:36

more information, you go to eight spell it

39:38

39:41

39:43

you. Thank you,

pal. This

41:02

Game day is about to get a

41:04

whole lot better with the Sonos Arc

41:06

Smart Soundbar. It creates a precise, immersive

41:08

experience. You actually feel like you're there

41:10

watching the game in person. I wanna

41:12

emphasize immersive, because I had an immersive

41:15

moment the other NFL Sunday with my

41:17

Sonos Soundbar, where I went, wait, is

41:19

somebody trying to break in? No,

41:21

oh, it's Dre Greenlaw tackling somebody

41:24

and I can feel it behind me because

41:27

of the audio magic that I'm currently wrapped up

41:29

in like a sleeping bag. It's

41:31

not just for game day. It's great for

41:33

family movie night, streaming audio books or podcasts

41:35

if your favorite host has some base two

41:37

range. Another detail I love about the Sonos

41:40

Arc is the speech enhancement feature. You turn

41:42

it on, you never miss a word of

41:44

commentary or game analysis. The night sound feature

41:46

turns it down a bit. You know, you

41:48

or your partner, hey, I don't really wanna

41:50

hear this TV late at night. Yeah, but

41:52

I can't fall asleep without it. Oh, that's

41:54

right, we have the night sound feature. You

41:56

can also expand the system. Just keep adding

41:58

or you will collect. right? Get

42:01

in there. Check out the catalog. You're

42:03

gonna like a lot of their stuff.

42:14

sonos.com. You

42:16

want details? Bye. I

42:18

drive a Ferrari. 355 Cabriolet. What's

42:21

up? I

42:23

have a ridiculous house in the South Fork.

42:26

I have every toy you can possibly imagine.

42:28

And best of all, kids, I am

42:30

liquid. So now you

42:32

know what's possible. Let me

42:35

tell you what's required. The

42:37

email address, lifeadvice, [email protected]. We

42:39

got Kyle, we got Steve. A

42:41

bit of a disrupted schedule this week with

42:44

the trade deadline, which put

42:46

me to sleep while I was

42:48

doing it. I taped for over two hours and I was

42:50

like, this is just whatever.

42:52

We'll keep it moving here. Fairly

42:55

relaxed. Vegas is

42:57

just a little different at this age. I'm happy for

42:59

it. I feel better about it. I'll

43:01

be back shortly. So not a big deal. Not a

43:03

long trip. I think everybody will... Back

43:05

to back carbon

43:08

dinners, I heard, right? Back to back carbon dinners. Shout out to Nick and

43:10

then Bernie

43:12

and then Julie on night two. And

43:15

I was so, I haven't been that full

43:18

in a long time. And then they came out

43:20

with... Well, look, I mean,

43:22

we could talk about carbon all day. Is it

43:25

hard to get into carbon? Because I've now gone

43:27

to the place right across the hall from that

43:29

twice. And both times I walked out, I'm like,

43:31

oh fuck, that's carbon. It's like a French place.

43:34

Yeah, both times I walked out of that French

43:36

place like, yeah, that was okay. And then I'm

43:39

like, oh shit, it's carbon. Like Drake said. So

43:41

is it hard to get in there? Like am I not

43:43

missing out because I probably wouldn't have got in anyway? It's

43:46

not hard when you're solo. Nice. Yeah,

43:53

so... There's the pro being alone. There

43:56

you go. Normally I can find

43:58

a way to get in. I

44:00

myself to sit there, I mean, I've had

44:02

a couple times, they're like, I don't know if you'll be able to get

44:04

a table. And since I'd be staying here,

44:06

I just be like, all right, whatever. I'll just go

44:08

up nine floors and get takeout or something. But

44:11

I was really looking forward to it. I didn't even tell anybody

44:13

what I was doing the first night I was here. So I

44:16

was like, I'm just going to go eat there and then I'll

44:18

adapt after. And I

44:20

got there. I had the last time I

44:23

was here for the in season tournament where I ate there. I

44:25

was just like, can I have six meatballs and a side of

44:27

pasta? And the guys like, you're going to eat six by yourself?

44:29

I was like, I'm going to try. And

44:32

I think I got through five and a half and the pasta. But

44:35

then some guy next to me started like handing me some of

44:37

his stuff. Like it turns into like a little party at the

44:39

bar. Like guys are just really friendly. Everybody's so happy to be

44:41

eating there. And he's like, Oh, you got to try

44:43

some of this. Yeah, yeah, I

44:45

would love it. I would. I

44:48

really would love it. Rottery at the bar, people sharing food. Oh

44:50

my God. I smoked the cigarette outside once. I don't

44:52

think you're supposed to smoke in that area, but I saw a

44:54

different guy doing it. He had

44:56

like a cup of water. But

44:59

it's it's it's all like gray areas in Vegas anyway, where

45:01

you can and can't. But it

45:03

looks like a good time. I can't remember the name of that

45:05

French place, but I hope I don't get tricked into doing it

45:07

again. And then walk. Yeah, no,

45:09

I know exactly. Like fucking car bones. I

45:11

did the same thing. So look,

45:14

I it was the next night and then I

45:16

taped with part of my tape, our NBA preview,

45:18

which will air in March. And

45:23

the cat was like, I've never been. I was like, well, we

45:25

can see if we can get in. And there was a couple

45:27

seats at the bar. And, you know, the

45:29

guy's been really nice over the years. And

45:32

so we went with the meatballs. We went

45:34

with the spicy rigatoni, which doesn't even taste

45:36

like pasta. It's like candy. It's so fucking

45:38

good. A little Caesar made right in front

45:40

of you. And then I

45:42

was like, let's just keep going here

45:45

because they have the cauliflower that's just

45:48

dipped in this vinegar thing. And

45:50

it's incredible. The bread's incredible. And

45:52

then just pepperoni slices just

45:55

all folded into each other. We just pop in

45:57

little pepperoni slices. You're waiting for the next thing.

46:00

So I was like, let's just get the veal parm. Like I

46:02

always get chicken parm, just get the veal parm. And

46:05

it was on the bone and it was so

46:07

good. It was actually like softer than chicken. It

46:10

was incredible how good it was. And

46:12

then they bring you these little like

46:14

rainbow cake, almond cookies, they

46:16

call them, but they're really, I think just

46:18

kind of dipped in frangelico and they

46:20

taste incredible. And

46:22

then at the end they were like, hey, here's

46:25

a slice of lemon cheesecake on top of it.

46:27

And I was like, thanks for coming in. And

46:29

I couldn't eat. I couldn't eat it. I was

46:31

like, you know, you do that

46:33

cheesecake bite at the back end where you're

46:35

just like, I want to hammer as much crust as I

46:37

can. So

46:39

veal parm is the

46:42

only thing I think I feel

46:44

guilty about eating for kind of obvious reasons.

46:46

But fucking A man, when veal parm is

46:48

like right, there's just nothing better on an

46:51

Italian menu than veal parm. Like I'm sorry.

46:53

It just, it's incredible. If you really do feel bad about it. I

46:56

kind of do because it's, you know, if you put the napkin over

46:58

your head, like Tom, I don't, I don't.

47:00

I just think about it. I think sometimes I

47:02

think about what I'm saying. I'm like, this kind

47:04

of sucks, but it's so freakin good. So

47:07

it's got to taste better than that deep fried bird.

47:09

Those guys were eating. Greg, great

47:12

acting from Greg in that scene. I

47:14

know the best is that he had to

47:16

eat with his grandfather before his stomach. And

47:19

it was the worst looking Asian food ever.

47:21

Terrible. It was so gross. But

47:24

his grandfather sucked. Principal

47:27

guy though. Principal guy. Like

47:30

how, how is it that my

47:32

money's the first portion

47:34

to Greenpeace? How is

47:37

that even more? All right. Let's

47:39

get to some emails here. By

47:41

the way, that, that night I ended up hanging

47:44

out with, you guess who's

47:46

a huge fan of the pod and we're going to have them on. Okay.

47:50

Yeah. Guessing window closed. Shannon Crowder.

47:53

All right. Not

47:55

as much excitement for that as I was. Now my dog started barking

47:57

and ruined the moment, but now you can tell me that it is.

48:00

That's kind of off brand. I do kind of like that. Valentine's

48:02

Day right around the corner. So we

48:04

do have one here that's fairly specific.

48:06

Might be my lane. Medium

48:09

time listener. Love the honesty. 6'4",

48:12

255. Basketball comp is Dirk. I

48:14

love the one leg baseline fade away and I'm

48:16

white. So I've heard Dirk yelled on the court

48:18

when I played pickup in NYC. All right. Trying

48:21

to do more. I love everyone pick up black guy. I'd

48:23

be like, yeah, I'm like black Dirk. That would be incredible.

48:25

That's an incredible comp. I know. Black

48:30

guy would be like, I'm a lot like Alex

48:32

Caruso. It

48:38

just never happens. Like whenever post

48:40

Dirk, it was out of control. Anybody

48:43

that was 6'11 and could shoot

48:45

and was international was Dirk. And if you were

48:47

6'8", you were Peja. It was like the laziest

48:50

shit ever. Just on and on. But

48:52

I still don't know that we've done any better with it. I

48:54

am always, whenever I'm doing draft prep, I'm always trying

48:56

to figure out, like try to come up with three

48:58

black players that remind you of white guys. And

49:01

I don't even know if I've ever gotten to three. Okay,

49:04

let's go. I'm

49:07

a big points guy. So I found a sweet

49:09

deal to go skiing in France and figure out

49:11

swing by Venice and Vienna while in Europe. This

49:13

is a solo trip. Being single, I failed to

49:15

realize one of my days in Venice falls on

49:17

Valentine's Day, potentially the worst city to be in

49:19

as a tourist on that holiday. Any

49:21

advice to take advantage of this? Take

49:23

advantage is an interesting way to... Okay,

49:26

I figure going to dinner at a nice restaurant

49:28

is going to be too depressing. I don't speak

49:30

Italian, so I just try to hang out at

49:32

bars. Is this hotel bar

49:34

restaurant day? Do you think any other people in

49:36

similar situations will be out and about? Not my

49:39

first solo trip, but seems like a new situation.

49:41

I'm curious to get your thoughts on. All

49:43

right. He

49:45

used the Dirk comp, so he's got to be a little

49:47

bit older, I imagine. Although it's not like Dirk has been

49:50

gone for that long. So if

49:52

you're younger, you just don't care. When

49:55

you're older, you might be a little bit more like, hey, how

49:57

far do I want to go with this? shots

50:00

up. If you're talking about what I

50:02

think you're talking about is crossing

50:05

glances at some other

50:09

solo traveler at a hotel bar who's

50:11

also by themselves on Valentine's Day, which

50:13

is a great opener. So like, hey,

50:16

you're pretty picky too, I see. You

50:20

know, you don't want to say like, oh, also a loser.

50:22

No, spin it the other way. Be like, I

50:25

see you don't waste your time with just anybody. How

50:27

about a white Russian? My

50:30

name is Sergei. Get it? So, you know, anyway,

50:32

right. Right. Although I don't know if the Russia

50:34

stuff plays right now. So I

50:36

would say that you're going

50:38

to have to go to a lot of

50:40

places to find that scenario for yourself. Because

50:43

I, I still think whenever

50:45

I'm in a bar, specifically in

50:47

Europe, there's just not a

50:49

lot of solo people. These aren't

50:51

solo mission people. They are so social.

50:54

They're always at tables. I'd touch on this New

50:57

Zealand lot. It's more likely to be a kid

50:59

there than there is like a solo person. Yeah.

51:03

Like, I'm not telling you being solo in the States

51:05

is always the greatest thing. Europe,

51:07

good fucking luck, bro. And

51:10

then on top of everything else, Venice. So

51:14

if you actually want to

51:16

meet somebody, you're going to have to

51:18

start like looking at the reward

51:20

point systems that reward American travelers

51:23

and hope like, I know why

51:26

you're doing it. What woman is

51:28

going to Venice by herself from Maryland?

51:31

What about Valentine's? Yeah,

51:34

wait. So yeah, but he doesn't even speak

51:36

Italian. I know. There's a massive barrier there,

51:38

especially when you're older. Look, if you're in

51:40

your 20s and you're going to clubs, you're

51:43

an American guy, and you're kind of fun

51:45

loving, and everybody's drunk enough, and you buy

51:47

some drinks, you just sort of hang out

51:49

and amoeba into the whole deal. It's more

51:51

than doable. I'm not saying it's super easy,

51:53

but it's totally doable. You start pushing late

51:55

30s, early 40s, don't speak the language, and

51:57

you're by yourself. So you go from like,

52:00

Hey, what's up with that guy? Is he

52:02

a mercenary? All right. Speaking

52:04

of firsthand knowledge, you'd be like, what are

52:06

you like in the military or something? Just

52:09

kind of like black water. Like,

52:11

no, I just I think I like hiking and I've

52:13

tricked myself into it as a hobby. You're

52:17

you're going to have to go to like

52:19

hotel bars likely only. Maybe

52:21

a cafe here and there. But, you know,

52:23

this is this probably is going

52:26

to be Oceans 12 for you, man. I

52:28

don't know. I think you should rather just find

52:30

out during instead of the

52:33

throw cost of the wind. I think you find out you can always

52:35

go home from a bar. That's what I've learned. So

52:38

yeah, but they're always together. They sit

52:40

at picnic tables. They're 12 to 20

52:42

deep. OK,

52:44

they're always together and they're having

52:46

the best time. And

52:48

they're just drinking their beers and they're

52:50

smoking their cigarettes. And they all seem to know

52:53

each other. You've got to be. A

52:56

fucking magician to pull off you

52:58

not being awkward in that setting.

53:01

Or you stay

53:03

sober and go out

53:05

really late and then

53:07

catch up with everybody else, as opposed

53:09

to awkward drinking all day long and

53:12

then putting yourself in a spot where everybody's like,

53:14

get this hammered American guy away from us. Yeah,

53:16

I don't think the like the chasing young

53:19

Venetian women is really going to work out for you. I

53:21

would say, I mean, again, I wish I know how old

53:23

you were, but if

53:26

your best chance for success and what I think you're looking

53:28

for is like, can you just find the college bars around

53:30

there? Like how can you like that a little bit easier

53:32

for you? If you're in your late 20s, it's probably fine.

53:34

If you're in your mid 30s, that's a little bit more

53:36

creepy. But

53:38

that's that's going to be because there's definitely going

53:40

to be there's going to be girls starting to broad

53:43

there. But who knows? Like you'd probably be pretty

53:45

successful. But if you're a little older, that's kind of

53:47

weird. Where do you think solo male ranks on

53:49

the on the League of Nations

53:51

out there? Like, is that solo male American?

53:54

Do you think are we still like a one seed, you

53:56

think? Or have we dropped? What are

53:58

you asking? I mean, like you're so. a solo male

54:00

American in Venice, right? Like, I don't know,

54:02

like is it better to be a solo

54:04

American dude in Venice or like Dublin? Well,

54:06

I guess you could speak the language. So

54:08

I'm like, France, probably not. I thought the

54:10

French were pretty tired of us. I don't

54:12

know. These are just all stuff I've heard.

54:15

But I'm wondering, like, is that a good spot to

54:17

be? Like, is that an attribute or is

54:19

it more of like a not an attribute

54:21

if you're there? The anti-American thing

54:23

is far more of like a Parisian thing than

54:25

it is a country-wide thing, at least based on

54:27

my experience. Then you'll even have people, like when

54:30

I was different from Arts of France, they're like,

54:32

dude, Parisians don't even like us. So

54:34

that's a Paris thing. So they

54:36

may, you may go there and feel like an asshole.

54:39

And I haven't spent any time there. So, but

54:41

from what I've experienced, like going into

54:43

a thing, like, oh, is everybody gonna be a dick or

54:46

whatever? I didn't, you don't even notice it. At least the

54:48

places that I've been. Italy

54:51

felt like there were more people there. I

54:55

mean, Dublin was a layup. Like Dublin, I got invited to

54:57

go to like a late night, but I

54:59

had a seven hour flight to Hartford the next day. And

55:02

I just went like, and I was out

55:04

by myself. It was actually my birthday. I

55:06

had a 23 hour layover in Dublin from

55:08

Naples. So they didn't, I

55:11

checked the bag and they wouldn't let me get it. So

55:13

I had to go to like a fucking convenience

55:15

store. All I had was one change

55:17

of shirt. I grabbed a hotel and then I walked

55:20

around Dublin. I checked out the university, which is really,

55:22

really cool. And then I was like, all right, I'm

55:24

just gonna take in all this music. It

55:26

was awesome, but it feels far less foreign than other

55:29

places I've been. And then I ended up at some

55:31

club that was inside of the hotel. Like I was

55:33

like, ah, shut it down here. It's in my hotel.

55:35

It's not that big of a deal. And I was

55:38

playing it pretty steady because I knew I had that

55:40

long flight the next day. And then

55:42

these guys were like, no, no, no, we're going to this thing.

55:44

But the thing is like Dublin closes early now.

55:46

Like guys are telling me when it used to

55:48

stay up really, really late, the fights were just

55:50

out of control, which was the least shocking part

55:52

of my research while I was there. So

55:55

Australians just seem to kill it. I'll tell you

55:58

that right now. Those guys have superpowers. can

56:00

go anywhere because they just I

56:02

think so they're rowdy right yeah they're rowdy enough the

56:04

accent is cool enough hard

56:06

to check up on their stories yeah

56:09

nobody's like yeah you probably did that you probably did that

56:12

yeah I feel like we spent a

56:14

lot of time on this one with zero answer whatsoever

56:17

so we just move on to another one sorry yeah

56:19

yeah sorry dude good luck okay maybe this

56:21

will be easier for us 27 years old 5 3 140 pounds not many gym

56:23

stats but huge cardio

56:27

guy currently training for half marathon

56:30

nbd poor man's marquee teague

56:33

oh I like that what's up team

56:35

huge fan of the pod I'm having some

56:38

major qualities teague like the brother he's even

56:40

not even Jeff teague yeah

56:42

but he even the best big deal yeah

56:44

he was supposed to be a really big deal but

56:48

he was not but I love the I love the humility

56:51

let me preface this with I'm not

56:54

really the confrontational type back

56:57

in October I moved in with one buddy let's

56:59

call him Nico and then his

57:01

friend from work let's call him Drake our

57:03

weight are these lyrics I don't know

57:05

you're my lyrics guy no I don't think so

57:07

I'm your I'm by the way I'm your like 2000

57:10

to 2014 lyrics guy yeah anything yeah he's like

57:20

that's from the game second CD

57:22

yeah that's Lloyd yeah

57:25

sorry what banks underrated

57:29

anyway derail that Steve sorry

57:32

I was prior living on my own and

57:36

living on my own and paying way too much and rent for

57:38

my space so I asked Nico if you wanted to move out

57:41

with me and he said yes claiming Drake was also

57:43

ready to move out the

57:45

Drake thing throws me off a bit here but

57:47

let's keep going now after months of haphazard looking

57:49

with the two we finally found our place we're

57:51

moving into a three-bedroom we were moving into a

57:53

three-bedroom two-bath pretty sweet spot it was further away

57:55

from work for me with the amount of saving

57:57

on rent splitting it three ways I really didn't

57:59

mind time to pay rent comes around and Drake

58:01

has not paid his amount. Nico was way closer with

58:03

Drake than he was with me. So I asked Nico

58:06

to handle it. Nico reports back that Drake claims he

58:08

got into a really bad car accident and is having

58:10

some difficulties paying it back. So I try and be

58:12

fair and cover him for the month. All right. Well,

58:14

we already know this is a fucking disaster.

58:16

A few more months go by

58:18

and now we're in the present where Drake has not

58:20

paid a penny for rent or any utilities. I've had

58:22

to cover him for months now and I'm paying significantly

58:24

more than when I was living by myself. This has

58:26

become a major point of contention for myself and Nico

58:29

where I'm now telling Nico if he's not going to

58:31

handle this with his friends and he's split what I've

58:33

paid with him where he claims his

58:35

own financial struggles. I'm growing more and more

58:37

concerned Drake will never pay because anytime he's

58:39

pressed for the money he claims issues with

58:41

Zell Venmo payouts and what he should be

58:43

able to send versus what he can send

58:45

this day. Well, here's the thing.

58:48

Venmo doesn't limit you at zero.

58:50

Yeah. Okay. Sorry,

58:54

dude. It might be a shady thing. If you can't use

58:57

Venmo right now, it's probably because you were fucking around

58:59

really. That's all for that being even

59:01

worse, son. Or you're lying. I've

59:03

had a few Venmo transactions where you go, hey, I

59:06

can only send this much today and then you're going

59:08

to let me clear it out where I can. But

59:11

when you had zero coming in for multiple

59:13

months and he's still blaming Zell and Venmo.

59:15

You can't send $900. That's because you're fucking

59:17

around or you're lying and you don't have

59:19

$900. Clearly, he's a deadbeat and

59:21

he's lying. He saw this as an opportunity to get away with this

59:23

shit and I don't even know why we're getting an email about it

59:25

because you already know what the answer is and I don't know what

59:27

answer you expect to get from us. So let's just finish. Every

59:30

conversation is met with some sort of emotional backstory as

59:32

well too. By the way, if you got into a

59:34

car accident while you lived with him and he couldn't pay rent,

59:36

wouldn't you be more aware of this said car accident? I was

59:39

going to ask. Is there

59:41

any evidence? Does he have some bumps and bruises on

59:43

him? It's like a doctor's

59:45

appointment. Have you seen him? Imagine not

59:47

getting in a car accident. Imagine saying,

59:49

hey, I can't pay rent. I got

59:51

in this nasty accident when you didn't

59:53

and just being that aggressive with the

59:55

lie that you're like, dude, terrible, terrible

59:57

accident. It's like, well, where's

59:59

your car? Like oh, we got it fixed already like

1:00:02

I'm broke I

1:00:07

don't want to be an asshole. I

1:00:09

don't think you would be here man, but I

1:00:12

also can't be held responsible to cover this guy

1:00:14

I'm not even friends with any suggestions how to

1:00:16

move forward. We greatly appreciate. Yes fucking stand up

1:00:18

for yourself You're getting played this guy's lying to

1:00:20

you. Yeah balance leave I mean your name is

1:00:23

probably on the lease try to find

1:00:25

a way to get out of it Fuck both of these

1:00:27

guys especially the landlord. Yeah, I say hey like I'm

1:00:29

trying to pay like these guys are playing around I'm trying to get

1:00:31

out great. Yeah, I mean you

1:00:33

might have a like there's no Reconciliation

1:00:36

here you were getting absolutely taken

1:00:39

advantage of and if this email

1:00:41

is real The

1:00:43

fact that you had to email this to us Where

1:00:47

it makes it think that you don't really

1:00:49

know how you should play it or what

1:00:51

the conclusion is is probably maybe even more

1:00:53

Alarming and why this happened to you in

1:00:55

the first place, but this should be

1:00:57

although a costly lesson now This should be

1:00:59

a major lesson in your

1:01:02

life where you go. Okay? I

1:01:04

mean shit like this happens to everybody, but

1:01:07

I really don't like that. You're even asking

1:01:09

us There's there's only one move look

1:01:11

out for yourself. These guys don't give a

1:01:13

fuck about you So why are

1:01:16

you even remotely understanding of any other

1:01:18

scenario other than the bad one? Yeah,

1:01:20

I mean I don't know how you guys pay your rent

1:01:23

if it's like you know if

1:01:25

you guys send your portions in or if it's like

1:01:27

you know, they give you the money and you and you send

1:01:29

in or whatever because that my my 19

1:01:33

year old apartment situation was we paid our

1:01:35

rent separately So he like

1:01:37

wasn't paying so the landlord came to me. He's like,

1:01:39

all right. What do you want to do here? It's

1:01:41

like this guy's not paying you're paying Like

1:01:44

do you want to break this lease and that's how I got out of it

1:01:48

So I looked at it that way but then he wasn't paying

1:01:50

his you know electric half So I was like,

1:01:52

well if he's not paying it, I'm not paying it So I

1:01:54

I ended up leaving with like a

1:01:56

thousand dollars to the electric company that I was like

1:01:58

wait What do you mean? So but that's me being

1:02:00

19. But if it's like if you guys pay

1:02:02

this separately, you just don't cover it. That's

1:02:04

cool. But if they're like sub tenants, and it's the whole

1:02:06

thing, like, you just have to find the fastest way to

1:02:08

get out of there because it's going to cost you less

1:02:11

money if you break this lease than if you just keep

1:02:13

hemorrhaging with these two bums, you know, I was

1:02:16

a very, very few actions are off

1:02:18

the table. Yeah, other than like

1:02:20

beating the shit out of them, recommending a crime, like you can

1:02:22

do kind of whatever you need to do to get out

1:02:24

of the situation. And I think the easiest one is talk to

1:02:26

the landlord, say I'm trying to pay but like these guys are

1:02:28

giving me the run around. I'm trying to get out, get ahead

1:02:31

of the situation, make sure you know he he knows you're the

1:02:33

good guy. And hopefully he has like some

1:02:35

sort of conscious and kind of helps you out a little bit. Yeah,

1:02:38

I don't I don't, you know, stuff

1:02:40

happens to all of us. And you learn from it.

1:02:43

And hopefully, you learn from

1:02:46

this, you know, like, look, man, the

1:02:48

living situations when you're young and you're

1:02:51

just like, Oh, hey, I know a guy, but oh,

1:02:53

this is great. Okay, cool. Yeah, yeah, no problem. It's

1:02:55

great. And then, you know, it's just so rare that

1:02:57

especially when you're having three or four guys live in

1:02:59

the same place, and you don't know

1:03:01

each other. You know, that's one of the great

1:03:03

things about college is you had, you know, decent

1:03:05

enough of a crew or there was some satellite

1:03:07

dudes, you know, shared

1:03:10

electrons of friendship, where

1:03:13

you were like, Oh, you're going to that

1:03:15

city or whatever, like, there's at least some

1:03:17

commonality about it. And, and

1:03:19

you feel like you're going into it when you go into

1:03:21

these things completely blind. You know, I don't

1:03:24

know what the percentage is on it. But there's

1:03:26

just a greater chance for this kind of stuff happening. But

1:03:28

you, you trying to figure out

1:03:30

like, Hey, I wonder what's gonna happen. Here's exactly

1:03:32

what's gonna happen. You're gonna get screwed

1:03:34

the longer you stay in this. Yeah,

1:03:37

there's no, he hasn't given you

1:03:39

a dollar. And he's still walking in the

1:03:41

apartment being like, Hey, gang, how's your day?

1:03:43

Right? Like, I, I

1:03:46

can't stand that person. That would be

1:03:48

okay. Like I would be so upset.

1:03:50

Fistclench. If I was, if I

1:03:53

was in keys, jingling, you're like, no, but I'm talking about

1:03:55

like, say I was in a financial situation, because I have

1:03:57

been in that before. I think there was a stretch like

1:04:01

I don't know. I don't know if I can say

1:04:03

I was cut off but I was basically cut off for

1:04:05

a little bit and You

1:04:08

know, I was like, hey guys, like, you know You're in college

1:04:10

and I was like, I'm not quite sure I'm gonna be able

1:04:12

to cover rent and you know Then you know the guys are

1:04:14

having a meeting about you But

1:04:16

what I wouldn't do is be like, oh, this is sweet Save

1:04:19

400 bucks this month because of these

1:04:21

dickheads. I just couldn't ever get there I would

1:04:23

feel terrible and I would find a way which

1:04:25

I did you just got to find a

1:04:27

way and this guy doesn't care I mean you

1:04:30

didn't even mention if he was working or not. So Alright,

1:04:33

how about one one quick one

1:04:35

here? Yeah, you want to do that? Yeah

1:04:39

I can't believe how many parenting ones we have

1:04:41

lately. This is crazy. This is crazy. Don't I

1:04:44

Guess I'm not gonna keep reading. Yeah,

1:04:46

I know. I'm just it's crazy Who is

1:04:48

like wonder what these guys think but to

1:04:51

put put their heads together Well,

1:04:54

I don't know. I'll get toddlers right infants I

1:04:56

mean, I don't really know what we

1:04:58

could do other than like cousins and sisters babies

1:05:01

or whatever Like what the whatever you supposed to

1:05:03

do. All right, we'll do we'll do this Jim one

1:05:07

because Yeah, I might want

1:05:10

to save this For there's a

1:05:12

guy I want to have I want to have a

1:05:14

specific workout life advice with our Chad Wesley

1:05:16

Smith guy I gotta have him on which keep

1:05:18

I just keep forgetting to send out. How about

1:05:20

we do that? All right, if

1:05:22

you have workout questions life advice related

1:05:24

workout questions for somebody who actually does

1:05:26

it and trains NFL athletes He's

1:05:29

a beast of a guy and he's been super

1:05:31

nice to the show and super nice to me

1:05:33

Invited me out for a round of golf where

1:05:35

I just changed my shafts and yeah Did

1:05:38

not play well, it's the worst round I played all year Not

1:05:41

that I'm good But that was pretty fucking embarrassing considering I think

1:05:43

I was playing with a guy who had the course record on

1:05:45

top everything else So that was fun, but

1:05:48

uh Let's

1:05:51

save all the workout ones for him and

1:05:53

read one here. All right, pick up hoop shut down

1:05:55

by old head 62

1:05:58

200 skinny fat player comp Kyle Anderson Kyle

1:06:00

Anderson, do you think he's the most player comp guy?

1:06:02

It's the most what I've heard, I think. I really

1:06:04

do. Do you think it's the most? Max

1:06:07

Bench, not existent in a bad way. Just

1:06:10

left pickup hoops at 24 hour on Saturday afternoon. We had

1:06:12

fives and a few waiting for the next game. A little

1:06:14

over an hour into the run, a dad showed up with

1:06:16

his son to shoot around. When the possession

1:06:18

changed, we crossed back over to their side of the

1:06:20

court. He seemed stunned. We were running full court and

1:06:22

just kept shooting. Whoa.

1:06:27

After this continued for a few possessions, he disappeared. He

1:06:29

came back five minutes later with the front desk guy

1:06:31

and they stopped our game. Front desk

1:06:33

guy told us, 13 guys who had the court for an hour already,

1:06:35

that if there were other people in the gym, we had to take

1:06:37

our game down to half court. After pretty much

1:06:39

everybody talked some shit to the dad, we ended our game

1:06:41

and everybody filtered out and went home. Looking

1:06:43

back, should we have just waited for the front desk guy to

1:06:46

leave and then go back to full court run? Should

1:06:48

we have cut it down to half court or were we right

1:06:50

to just call it off and concede to the old head? Important

1:06:54

note, guy appeared to not speak much English

1:06:56

and definitely didn't understand pickup etiquette. All right,

1:06:58

well, there we go. That's

1:07:00

what happened here. Wondering what you guys would have done in this situation.

1:07:03

I have a feeling I know what Rossello is going to

1:07:05

say. Thanks boys. Love the show.

1:07:07

P.S. Kyle, give Blade my best. I'm

1:07:09

going to love that. This

1:07:13

kind of sucks because I do

1:07:15

sympathize with the dad a little bit. I'm not saying it's

1:07:17

the right call, but you

1:07:20

know, I don't know, maybe he doesn't have a ton

1:07:22

of time to play hoops with the son, try

1:07:24

to figure some stuff out, let him shoot, teach

1:07:26

him up a little bit. It's the wrong

1:07:28

call. I'm telling you that it sucks. It's the wrong call. I would

1:07:30

be mad if I was playing the full, but I do sympathize a

1:07:32

little bit with the dad. This

1:07:35

is like I've seen a bunch of videos recently. I don't

1:07:37

know why. Maybe my algorithm

1:07:39

is just showing a bunch of like

1:07:42

kids on scooters getting just fucking wrecked by

1:07:44

some dude coming down like a half pipe

1:07:46

at the public skate park and

1:07:48

like some kid in the mind. It's

1:07:50

like several different versions. It's not the same one.

1:07:52

I'm sure you've seen it. There's a couple of

1:07:54

viral ones. And I just say though, once you

1:07:56

go down that rabbit hole of watching a couple

1:07:58

of fucked up videos on. Instagram they just

1:08:01

flood you with crazy content and then they'll give you

1:08:03

the ones that are like you know you have to

1:08:05

click to actually watch the video because it's like a

1:08:07

warning label and you're like well what am I gonna

1:08:09

not watch the video now what's behind the camera it's

1:08:12

a real slippery slope because now that's my whole

1:08:14

feet is just like crazy stuff that's happening and

1:08:17

I don't like it but I'm like kind of addicted to it my

1:08:19

and this is not through me seeking stuff out but

1:08:21

it's just kind of my pie chart now is like

1:08:24

it's like fights cringe content

1:08:26

which I'm trying to get off it's just like I

1:08:28

liked one thing that was like oh this is tough

1:08:31

to watch so it's that fights kids

1:08:33

getting hurt and drunk people doing

1:08:36

things and like soprano stuff that's like it's

1:08:38

like and like maybe it's somebody from high

1:08:40

school you know it's like I just try

1:08:42

to stay off Instagram it's all funny from

1:08:44

home in the mix

1:08:46

is in the mix into the

1:08:49

tossed salad of content yeah

1:08:51

look I go you know what a cool minds

1:08:54

Troy Aikman peck-deck routine now Troy Aikman

1:08:56

there's like hybrid Troy Aikman accounts that

1:08:58

I didn't even follow that are just

1:09:00

all over me now after

1:09:02

last week so look uh I

1:09:07

have no sympathy here you can't

1:09:09

do this you can't do this you

1:09:11

could never do this this isn't about

1:09:13

fatherhood this isn't about bonding with

1:09:15

your child like this is

1:09:17

absurd the only thing that allows

1:09:20

a slight out here is that

1:09:22

the guy was just from another country you said

1:09:25

didn't speak much English just had no idea but

1:09:27

what was he doing prior to when you guys

1:09:29

are running back and forth to book like if

1:09:31

he knows enough about basketball to want to shoot

1:09:33

around with his son I don't think that bought

1:09:35

a ball that day so did

1:09:38

he did he know what he was doing and

1:09:41

then told on you like people

1:09:43

can get really weird with their kids at

1:09:46

a run like I had it happen pretty recently

1:09:48

where we were all getting ready to play and

1:09:51

a guy showed up to like take a son

1:09:53

through shooting drills and we

1:09:55

were like what the fuck is this man and

1:09:58

every no one was really quite enough into it to

1:10:00

make a big stink out of it. I already worked out.

1:10:03

So I was like, whatever, I'm not going to make a big

1:10:05

deal out of it. But you got to have some stones to

1:10:08

roll up where guys are ready to play

1:10:10

full court and you're just

1:10:12

going to slam. No, sorry. We're like, we're

1:10:14

running through drills. Go outside, especially

1:10:17

in California, like find a park. There's a

1:10:19

place to go do it. Older

1:10:21

guys probably want to run indoors and not have to run

1:10:23

around in the asphalt anymore. And you're going

1:10:25

to do something like that. It's just really, really

1:10:27

selfish. This guy may have been completely clueless, just

1:10:30

not understood whatsoever. If your young guy is getting

1:10:32

confrontational, then he thinks he has to go to

1:10:34

the staff and the whole thing. The staff guy

1:10:36

should have known better. I can't think of any

1:10:38

gym that's real. And you said it's a 24

1:10:40

hour fitness where if people were running full court,

1:10:42

that the person who worked there would be like,

1:10:44

no, you actually have to let a guy and

1:10:47

his kid take up the whole thing. And now

1:10:49

you have to play half court while all these

1:10:51

people are waiting. There's nothing worse than five on

1:10:53

five half court. It's the worst. So

1:10:56

you can't do that. Even

1:10:58

internationally, like majority rules, right? I mean,

1:11:00

everybody, like there's 13 people

1:11:02

that want to do this. There's two people that want

1:11:04

to do that. Raise your hand. Do you want to

1:11:06

watch Remember the Titans or do you want to watch

1:11:08

Titanic? We're watching Remember the Titans again. That's how it

1:11:10

goes. Like, I don't

1:11:12

understand. Like, at this point,

1:11:14

it's like, it's it's just the eyes have

1:11:16

it. Right. So I, I think he

1:11:18

knew what he was doing. I don't think you can really, you don't want

1:11:20

to make an enemy out of the front desk guy. I mean,

1:11:23

some guys get a little chippy. Like, well, guess whose

1:11:25

membership is not getting renewed or something? Like, I know

1:11:27

you don't want to do that. But I think somebody

1:11:29

could have been like, hey, man, just for future reference,

1:11:31

are you saying that like dudes have an hour and

1:11:33

then all of a sudden one half goes to whoever's

1:11:35

wandering around the gym might like to put a shot

1:11:37

up. So maybe it's good that maybe it's good that

1:11:39

level headedly go up to the front desk guy, if

1:11:41

he's the one who's always there. And then

1:11:44

just be like, hey, I just want to get a clear

1:11:46

understanding of what happened here because we're, you know, we

1:11:49

have what's what's the standard? Like, what should we

1:11:51

expect moving forward? We set a timer and

1:11:53

then anybody who wants to run laps has to,

1:11:55

you know, what I would not have done

1:11:57

though, is I don't think you want to yell at anybody in front of me.

1:12:00

Correct. Because then the kid who doesn't

1:12:02

maybe know even remotely what the hell's going on, because

1:12:05

his dad's, he's just following his dad's lead, like, as

1:12:07

mad as you might be, and I know I wouldn't love it,

1:12:10

I would like to think that most people would

1:12:12

be smart enough to like, Hey, there's still a

1:12:14

kid involved here. So don't get chesty

1:12:16

with the dad in front of the kid.

1:12:20

And it may be just a one time loss where

1:12:22

you go, Hey, remember that time that that happened? Right.

1:12:24

And then you go to somebody who actually like knows

1:12:26

what the hell's going on. And you can't possibly think

1:12:28

that that's the right policy that no matter what, imagine

1:12:31

now from imagine me just wanting to get shots up.

1:12:33

And it's a full court game with like real dudes

1:12:35

out there. And I just start bombing away from free

1:12:37

going, Hey, dude, you guys are gonna cut it down

1:12:39

to half court. But it's different for you versus like

1:12:41

that the kid like that's why I'm just I'm trying

1:12:44

to leave a sliver of something open for like, all

1:12:46

right, maybe the guy thought about the outside thing, maybe

1:12:48

I don't know, something didn't work out with that. But

1:12:50

like, if he wants to just go and get

1:12:52

up shots with the son, have some quality, you

1:12:54

know, father son time, like, what's he

1:12:56

supposed to do to say, Hey, sorry, kid, we got to

1:12:58

go home, like the kids not gonna play the same thing.

1:13:00

But it's, it's the the

1:13:02

act of okay, defensive

1:13:05

rebound outlet. They've now set

1:13:07

up in the half court. We're good.

1:13:09

Sorry, your game is now half court. Mid

1:13:11

game. What would chirping guys, Steve? What would

1:13:13

Quinnip PX, Steve do? Oh, I would

1:13:16

not have I'm telling you right now, I would not have handled

1:13:18

a guy you lost at all. But you know, now that I'm

1:13:20

a father, I don't know, I'm just trying to think of like,

1:13:23

what is it? What is he supposed to do? Because you

1:13:25

just go home, then the guy like you just can't you're

1:13:27

just not gonna be able to shoot around with your kid

1:13:29

like you're kind of out of luck. Practice over there. Go

1:13:32

home. Go outside.

1:13:35

Get him. Yeah, maybe some treadmill work. Those

1:13:38

are always empty. This is just cone

1:13:40

days. Yeah, we're gonna do cone drills,

1:13:42

dribbling drills outside. We're gonna go in

1:13:45

the parking lot. We're gonna practice cuts.

1:13:47

No ball. Bobby Knight style. No ball.

1:13:49

Yeah. Final motion offense. Yeah. Yeah. Three

1:13:51

other guys. All right. Imaginary

1:13:54

number two guy set

1:13:56

on for him. If I if you guys

1:13:58

after your run was done. went outside and the guy

1:14:01

was in the parking lot with his son just doing cone

1:14:03

drills with no ball. I'd actually be like, you know what,

1:14:05

next time you could have free reign at the court. I

1:14:07

respect the hell out of this. I give him my sneakers.

1:14:09

I'd be like, these are for you. Let

1:14:13

me know if you want me to come. Are you

1:14:15

guys here tomorrow? I'll rebound for you. I'm willing

1:14:17

to take one shot. All right. That'll do it

for us. Thanks, Kyle. Thanks, Steve. Thanks for working
