Active adult communities refer to either an age-targeted or an Age-restricted community designed for people aged 55 or older.  These communities offer the best in retirement living, creating a community of like-minded people while removing many of the mundane burdens of life in a regular community or suburb.   Homes for active adults tend to be single-family detached homes, and typically range from 1500 to 2,000 square feet, and lots tend to be less than a quarter of an acre.
