Has your young child or young adolescent come to you saying they want to date or they like someone? How young is too young? Dr. Phil says that teenagers, especially younger pre-teens, don't need to have boyfriends and girlfriends. Still, he knows that young relationships do form. He has advice for parents that I will share in my show. How well do you know your teen and what's going on in their lives? You may have an open dialogue with your child, but are you discussing the tough topics: sex, drugs and drinking? And how about when abuse starts in an relationship with your young loved one: One in three American youths between the ages of 14 and 20 years have been victims of teen violence or have been violent toward a date (American Psychological Association's 121st Annual Convention). And while you may think girls are less violent, this study showed girls reported violent behavior equivalent to what the boys reported. These alarming statistics show that dating violence is much too common of an occurrence with both boys and girls today.  In a National survey, 9.4 percent of high school students reported being hit, slapped, or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend within 12 months prior to the survey. Approximately 1 in 5 women and nearly 1 in 7 men who were victims of rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by a partner, first experienced some kind of dating violence between the ages of 11 and 17 years.  Join me April 11th at 9pm CT as we discuss this serious topic at www.blogtalkradio.com/ritahodges or call 646-929-0421

What is different about my show is that all shows are geared towards my own lived experiences, education, research and many years of knowledge in chemical dependency, mental illness, relationships/marriage/divorce and behavioral dispositions. I am bold and not for the weak, and I am God conscious, but if you are willing to make changes, you will benefit from me.
