In this episode Brett Jordan discusses some of the basic features of fear, particularly as it pertains to the unique and unusual COVID-19 culture in which we are living. Brett also explores the spiritual positives of struggle and uncertainty, and gives a heartfelt prescription for human growth and maturity while living in the midst of unpredictable times.
It’s important to point out that, while we’re certainly living in very unpredictable times right now, the nature of our society’s upturning is really not as “unprecedented” as we might be hearing in the media. As a race of beings made in the image of the Creator, we have faced many upheavals in terms of the social order and we have also dealt with the looming threat of disease, disaster and imminent warfare countless times before. The point is that members of our species have dealt with injury on a large scale before – sometimes to a shocking and crippling degree – and it’s important to put that into perspective when considering our current navigating of the coronavirus climate. The point is that there is something for us to grow from in the face of these types of things, and we can choose to either be prisoners of the condition – or else recognize the liberty that is available directly within.
Regardless of how our governments choose to respond in the face of “expert” recommendations about COVID-19, the more significant response lies within our own spirits. In other words, how we choose to act out and conduct our own moral positioning is what will yield true healing and recovery in the world. In this sense, our future is really not in the hands of those who appear to be in authority. Rather, our future lies in the vast potential of our relationship with the Divine.
