SHOW NOTES:

About this episode:

Today's guest, Zach Mumford, is the founder of Experiential Travel, an outdoor education program for homeschool kids to learn necessary life skills in an adventurous environment. Zach’s goal is for the students to move well beyond their comfort zones and learn to see the world from a non-consumerist standpoint. We discuss why they don’t stay at big hotels and treat the trip like a vacation, and life lessons that are often imparted as the students learn to work together in difficult situations.

About Zach:

A lifelong Homeschooler/Unschooler, Zach began solo traveling in Latin America at the age of 18 and got hooked on travel and the outdoors. At 21 he moved to Costa Rica full time, where he worked for Outward Bound Costa Rica and spent 1,000 days in the field instructing Leadership Semester courses, and assisted in teaching over 30 Wilderness Medicine and Rescue courses. He later served as Field Director for Pure Life Wilderness Therapy, where he created one of the most advanced Risk Management plan’s in Latin America’s outdoor industry and trained and managed a team of 18 field guides. At Experiential Travel, he brings his background in safety and group facilitation, as well as his passion for travel and adventure, to every course. He is fluent in Spanish and has lived, traveled and worked in Latin America for over a decade.

Certifications: Wilderness First Responder, CPR/AED, Technical Rope Rescue: Operations, Whitewater Rescue Technician, NAUI Advanced Diver.

About Simran:

She is the founder of Flowation.com, where spiritual-minded entrepreneurs can find resources to learn how to create more Flow in their lives and businesses.

She’s been obsessed with the question ‘how can I make this feel easier?’ since she can remember. As former Estate Planning and Succession Planning attorney for small businesses she really learned what makes small business owners function at their best. She’s taken that knowledge forward as a small business strategy coach for spiritual-minded small business owners and helps them bust through their limiting beliefs and upper limits, and create systems in their lives and business to help support their more aligned self. These systems help them become more efficient with their time and priorities; and help them feel lit up as they work with greater purpose and allow more Flow in their lives.

Simran specializes especially in helping parents with children under the age of 5, who want the space in their life to practice Conscious Parenting, but are struggling to fit everything they want to do with their business and children into their schedule.

In her time away from work Simran spends her time dancing or attempting to do yoga, while her two spirited kids are normally climbing on her. And she loves taking hot baths and engaging in self-care while listening to binaural beats music, while her wonderful hubby takes the kids out for an ‘adventure day.’
