From a spiritual perspective, the ego is that aspect of the self that distinguishes itself from others through identification(s). In short, the ego is our sense of ‘I’ and ‘Me’ that tends to approach life through our thinking. Spirituality, our true essence is discovered through authentication of the Soul. As a human soul, we can choose to live our daily lives with consciousness of observation or as a true witness. Psychologically, we define ego as pride about oneself. Thoughts such as my intellect, my life, my wealth, my spouse and children, we think are specific ways to acquire happiness. While the soul reveals how life truly is, the ego tells us how life should or is supposed to be.
