"Life doesn't happen like that!"

Wayne McFarland was taken aback by the memoirs that he was reading. It influenced him to be the one to tell his own stories and oh what stories they were. This episode will be one that should
inspire you to write or rewrite your story.

The strongest voice that you have is the one you use while you are still living. I mean let's be real, we all know now that a pandemic can shut down the world. When you think about the fears holding you back from achieving your goals, most of them can't compare to that. You should be inspired more now to climb the highest mountain or start the business.

For Wayne, he saw the success that would come from being authentically him. Stories like losing $10,000 at the Hollywood sign and the impact it had on his business. (Oh, trust me it is even more interesting than you think!) It highlighted a story that others would keep hidden for fear of judgment or ridicule. In telling your story you will find that there are a lot more who are with you than who are against you.

Wayne shared a story about a general that served in World War II and his response to a reporter asking him about how he could handle sending troops out knowing that there may be casualties. His response was, " One day I woke up at 3 AM and realized that most of his problems never really happened." That was the true definition of taking it day by day and even minute by minute.

You'll see value in taking your first step only after you take it.

Don't allow your mind to build a wall in front of your door. Realize that there are many barriers that you have set only because of your self-doubt. This is also the time to look at your support system. Sometimes it will be those closest to you and other times it will not be someone that you know. Either way, the right support will help you look at opportunities amid your obstacles.

Don't forget that while on this journey you will always have an audience. Continue to show up and bring a story or two with you.

Wayne McFarland wandered away from a small, mid-western town some years ago. With no planning at all, his history is one of stumbling into one bog after another from the Dakotas to California, from Pamplona to Paris. Yeah, this indeed is a memoir of sorts, if shark fishing in one’s underwear, roping a bear, getting drunk with your Grandfather, or losing ten grand at the Hollywood Sign is a memoir. The Day Johnny Cash Hit On My Wife is on the roster as well, for the only name drop in all the stories. There’s also a thing about getting shot in Arkansas and a road trip with a monkey.

I can’t deny these were life-shaping events, but truth be told they all happened under the heading of “oops.”
