This is a continuation of our series on the history of US gun control. We pick up in the late 1970s, talking about advocacy groups on both sides, the media war that was taking shape, and several major assassinations and assassination attempts that would change the gun control debate for good.
We also talk about the 1986 Miami FBI shootout where two FBI agents were killed by two Army vets and bank robbers. This changed American policing tactics and weapons forever and resulted in the 1986 Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act.
