This

0:12

is The Talking Dead, a

0:15

podcast dedicated to the AMC

0:17

TV show, The Walking Dead.

0:28

Hello everyone and welcome to

0:31

the podcast. My name is Chris. And

0:33

my name is Jason. And this is episode number 644,

0:35

recorded on Wednesday, October the 11th, 2023. How

0:41

are you, Jason?

0:42

I'm tired,

0:45

but okay. Still have a cough, still have a cold,

0:47

it's lingering, it's a pain in the butt, but other

0:49

than that, hunky and or dory.

0:52

Well, that's not too bad. I mean, I'm glad you

0:54

feel a little bit better, but I've heard of other people, as

0:56

I was saying earlier before we were recording, that

0:59

got sick and then the cough just lasted

1:01

for weeks. So I'm not surprised you're still

1:04

coughing a bit. Hopefully you're not doing

1:06

too poorly. Not

1:08

so poorly, no. Okay, well

1:10

that is good. So

1:13

it's Wednesday night, it's not Monday

1:15

night. I don't know if you noticed.

1:18

I did, yeah. We are recording

1:20

a couple of days late. So after all of that talk

1:23

about episodes being late in the feed

1:25

and the feed being slow and delayed and things

1:27

like that, this week,

1:29

it's not the feed's fault, this week it's our fault. It's

1:32

my fault. It's my fault. Okay,

1:34

it's your fault. I was going to say our, but you know, I mean, that's okay.

1:36

I mean, we had Thanksgiving on Monday, we couldn't record.

1:39

And I had to work. So yeah, Thanksgiving

1:41

and then Monday night I sat down and said,

1:44

you know, I was planning on doing a little bit of work puttering

1:46

over the weekend. And I sat down on early

1:48

Sunday evening and then realized how

1:51

much work I had to do before Monday morning,

1:53

my nine or sorry, Tuesday morning, my

1:56

9am call. So I messaged you saying, Chris,

1:58

I can't do it.

1:59

when can we do it later? And

2:02

you graciously said,

2:04

not tomorrow, but Wednesday. That's

2:07

exactly how we talk when we're not on the air, yeah.

2:09

Yeah, well, when chatting with you online,

2:12

via text message, I just

2:14

assume we're both whining all the time. All

2:16

the time, all the time, it's very, very

2:19

true. We have to really dial down the whining-ness

2:21

when we get on here for real, right? You

2:23

dial down a little bit, yeah. A little bit, right. Not

2:25

the complaining and the moaning and the bitching, but the whining,

2:27

we tone down the whining. That's the

2:30

most annoying part. You don't want the constant

2:32

whining. All right, well,

2:34

sorry about that, everyone. It's Wednesday. We're

2:37

here to talk about the latest episode of the

2:39

Darryl Dixon show, of course. And

2:42

I think there's lots to go over with

2:44

this episode number five. But

2:47

first, we're going to do a little bit of listener

2:49

feedback. So let's dive into that right now. Listener

2:53

feedback. All

2:55

righty, we have one

2:58

call to start us off, and that

3:00

comes from Steph.

3:01

Hey, guys. This is

3:03

Steph from Northampton, Massachusetts. I

3:07

am calling kind of just to give my

3:09

two cents about the

3:12

new Darryl Dixon series. I

3:14

started watching it, and I

3:18

am having a really hard time getting

3:20

locked in and focusing on it.

3:23

I know things at times seem to be moving really

3:26

fast, and there's a lot of new characters,

3:28

which is to be expected. But

3:31

I was kind of trying to think about why is it

3:33

so hard for me to get

3:35

into it so much? And I

3:38

started thinking about how invested

3:40

I am in the show, how I've

3:42

started the series of The Walking

3:45

Dead now for a third time, and Darryl

3:47

is my favorite character.

3:52

And so as I'm watching, I feel

3:54

like I'm being pulled in different

3:56

directions. I'm excited to see him

3:58

in a new kind of way. of setting

4:00

in a new show but

4:03

at the same time I remember Darryl

4:06

and I've been invested in his character and I know

4:08

all the experiences he's been in and

4:11

I just I

4:14

have a hard time seeing him you

4:16

know first of all without his vest on and

4:19

Segnoval just in

4:21

these new situations where you

4:23

know he seems to be kind of fumbling

4:26

and making decisions I wouldn't expect him to

4:28

make which I know a few people have called

4:31

in about and also you guys have talked about

4:34

but I really think that if

4:36

you are a new viewer watching this series

4:40

that maybe you don't you might not have these same

4:42

feelings of course because you don't know

4:45

Darryl Dixon from the Walking Dead series

4:47

you're just kind of meeting him now whereas people

4:49

who have seen the series and invested time

4:51

in it are watching this

4:54

and may have a different kind of take

4:56

on it because they know Darryl is and they're focused

4:58

on that I kind of wish

5:01

that they had a little bit more one-on-one

5:03

time with Darryl maybe one episode

5:05

even of just him kind

5:08

of walking around and tracking

5:10

and being the old Darryl you know and

5:12

it's not that he isn't the old Darryl it's still

5:15

the same but it seems like there's

5:17

something missing and

5:19

on top of that it's all these new characters

5:22

and a new complete setting and it's

5:24

just hard for me to get into it

5:26

because I'm constantly thinking about who Darryl

5:28

is as a person and just

5:30

kind of being confused and I find myself having

5:33

to rewatch scenes over and over

5:35

because I just can't keep myself invested

5:37

and I think that this is just very

5:40

new and it is still very exciting

5:42

I still love the show I think it's you

5:44

know beautiful this cinematography

5:47

is beautiful it's so cool to be happening in France

5:49

we got the Boilers you know but

5:52

I've just been having kind of a hard time getting super

5:54

locked into the series but I am going

5:56

to finish it to the end anyways bye

5:59

guys thank you

5:59

All right,

6:01

thank you Steph. So she's having trouble

6:03

connecting to the show. Yeah, but at

6:05

the end does say she's loving it I'm gonna finish

6:07

it through so I mean that both of those things

6:09

can be true. That's fine And

6:12

you know, we've talked a little bit about how this feels

6:15

in some ways like a little bit of a different Daryl

6:18

Mm-hmm. I don't know if

6:20

I I mean I I do definitely

6:23

see that as well But I think I can also

6:25

see the Daryl Dixon in there as well

6:28

but really What

6:31

Steph's call got me thinking about is? What

6:34

it would be like to watch

6:36

this show Having never

6:39

seen a Walking Dead episode ever

6:41

before having not knowing anything about

6:44

Daryl Dixon or Walking Dead

6:46

universe Like

6:49

I can't even imagine that because we've

6:51

watched so much Walking Dead, right tough

6:54

Yeah, virtually impossible So

6:56

I I just wonder if there

6:58

are many people out there that are actually watching

7:00

the Daryl show and hadn't watched the Walking

7:03

Dead And this is all new to them. I Gotta

7:05

think that's at an incredibly small percentage

7:08

of the viewership, right? Yeah, I would think

7:10

so But it could happen. There

7:12

could be some people out there who stumbled on this show

7:14

when it first premiered and you know

7:17

It's their their thing now So if

7:19

you're out there and you're listening I'd love

7:21

to hear from you and hear what you think about

7:23

the Daryl Dixon show Having not

7:26

been a part of the Walking Dead universe before this I'll

7:29

bet you none of our listeners are in that category,

7:31

but it's possible right if you know,

7:33

I assume it's possible but not likely No,

7:37

not not very likely but

7:40

Anyways, Steph, I hope you can

7:42

find you know It sounds like you have found

7:45

some things you like in in this show

7:47

and I kind of wonder if this

7:49

episode number five That we're gonna talk about in a minute

7:52

has done anything to you

7:54

know, bring her in a little bit I

7:57

I think that may have done that

7:59

we'll see Could, could, mayhaps,

8:01

could, mayhaps, or something

8:04

like that. Anyways,

8:06

thank you for the call, Steph, and let

8:08

us know how you feel once you've seen all

8:11

six episodes. That'd be great.

8:13

Next up is Jennifer in Glasgow, Scotland,

8:16

and she wrote in an email. And

8:18

the first thing she does in her email, Jason,

8:20

is she really keeps

8:23

on some praise for the terror. I

8:25

showed you mentioned last week. Oh, yeah. And

8:28

she says, how awesome Adam, is it

8:31

Negatus? Is that how you

8:33

pronounce his last name? Couldn't tell you for sure.

8:35

Adam Negatus. Yeah, let's say Negatus. Looks

8:37

like it. How awesome he is in that show. Yeah.

8:40

So she's a big fan, as were you. And

8:43

then she continues on her email and she says, I don't

8:46

care how Daryl gets to France and

8:49

how completely unbelievable that is. I

8:51

don't care how stupid it is that everyone

8:53

speaks English even when Daryl's not around.

8:56

I'll let it slide when it's a homing pigeon

8:58

that finds Carol and brings her over for season

9:00

two. And I'm not

9:02

even going to mention that drugs lose their

9:04

potency at a rate of 10 percent a year. So

9:07

Isabel's bags of cocaine were about as much use

9:09

as the shit they were selling in the car park

9:11

of my local supermarket. But did

9:14

you see Quinn and Daryl fighting? I

9:16

rewound those few seconds more times

9:18

than I care to remember, beating my

9:20

previous Walking Dead rewind record of Daryl

9:23

licking his fingers before shaking poor

9:25

Patrick's hand at the start of season three. And

9:28

that time he squared up to Bob for nicking

9:30

the bottle of booze and putting folks

9:32

safety in jeopardy. It was the sexiest

9:35

thing I've ever seen on the telly. And

9:37

I can guarantee I am now pregnant and I'm

9:39

not sure which one of them is the baby daddy. Oh

9:41

my goodness. From rewinding a show?

9:44

From rewinding a show and watching those two

9:46

dudes beat each other. Yeah,

9:51

so that's awesome. Jennifer, thank you. Pretty

9:57

fun scene. Pretty fun fight scene, I thought. Oh yeah,

9:59

I didn't. I didn't rewind it at all,

10:01

but I might go back.

10:04

Just check it out. Well, be careful. Jason, use

10:06

protection. You don't want to get pregnant. No, I'm

10:08

impregnable. Believe me, I've

10:10

known that since my early teens that

10:13

I couldn't get pregnant no matter how hard

10:15

you try. That's

10:17

when you learned as a teenager. Yeah,

10:19

well, I've known that, but

10:21

for a lifetime. Sure. I have yet

10:24

to get pregnant. All right, very good.

10:27

Thank you, Jennifer. Also, let

10:29

us know if anything else super sexy happens

10:31

on screen, but it sounds like anytime Daryl or

10:34

Adam Nagatis is on there.

10:36

She's on board. So there's two seasons

10:38

of The Terror, like the TV show. The first one is

10:40

about the HMS Terror and the second one, I did

10:42

not watch that season, so I don't know anything about it, but

10:45

it's a different cast of characters in a different

10:47

situation altogether. Oh, okay.

10:50

Well, so you really have to watch the first season then. Well,

10:53

I was interested in the HMS Terror because of the

10:55

actual expedition

10:58

that, you know, they only recently just found

11:00

the ship, the HMS Terror, because it was

11:02

lost. They were gone. It's like, where did everybody go? I have

11:04

no idea. They're up there in the north, and then they were

11:07

gone. Did the aliens take them? Because

11:09

when in doubt, it's always aliens. When

11:11

you don't understand under, when you first

11:14

don't understand something, it's always

11:16

aliens. So the aliens

11:18

took the HMS Terror until it was found, and

11:21

I guess the aliens brought them back, but the

11:24

TV show was fantastic.

11:26

It was based on a book, too, I think. But

11:29

there's some supernatural aspects

11:31

to it that don't fit with reality

11:34

quite right, but that's okay, because the expedition

11:36

was lost. You don't know what happened. It could have been aliens.

11:39

It probably was monsters. So

11:41

it's all good. Of some kind, supernatural beings

11:44

of some kind. I think

11:46

I kind of want to watch this show now, hearing

11:48

you and other people say how great it is. I've seen it sitting

11:51

there on my TV waiting to be watched, so

11:54

maybe I'll get into it. It was the first real

11:56

expedition that used a brand

11:59

new concept. called canning

12:01

where you actually put food into cans

12:05

and then stored them in the ship's

12:07

hold. So they figured they'd do fine for a couple

12:09

of years because they had all these canned food.

12:12

But the seals were not good and the food all went rotten. But

12:15

other than that, it was a great idea. It is

12:17

a great idea. They just executed it properly.

12:20

Yeah. All right. And they had a heating

12:22

system in the ship. They had this boiler thing where

12:24

they can heat the ship. But they only had

12:26

enough fuel to do that like three days per winter

12:29

kind of thing. Well, that's not enough. Well,

12:31

it's not. All

12:33

right. Well, I'll get around to watching the

12:35

terror, maybe one of these days and look for Adam

12:38

Nagatas. Yeah. All right. Just

12:41

one more email. We're going to be quick in

12:43

the listener feedback this week. This is from Jack in

12:45

Cumbria, UK, and

12:47

he writes in about why all the characters

12:50

are using old school guns mostly. And

12:53

he says, I think it's quite a simple explanation,

12:56

to be honest. We aren't seeing arsenals

12:58

of modern firearms simply because we

13:00

don't have them. We do have guns. But

13:03

if I'm remembering correctly, I think it's less than

13:05

five percent of Europe owns any sort

13:07

of firearm, making them extremely rare. As

13:10

far as I'm aware, unless you have a reason,

13:12

mainly for sport and farming, you

13:15

won't be granted a gun license. You can't

13:17

just have guns for the sake of having guns over

13:19

here. Semiotic rifles, pump action, shotguns

13:22

and handguns are banned outright in most

13:24

European countries. Private citizens

13:27

mainly have bolt action rifles and shotguns,

13:29

but again, heavily monitored. And

13:32

it's just as easy to lose your license as

13:34

it is difficult to get one. So

13:36

my theory is the more historic guns

13:38

we are seeing in the show are from private

13:41

collections and museums that have been looted

13:43

over the years. And the more modern

13:45

guns we are seeing are from criminals

13:47

that were illegally owned. As

13:50

for what happened to the weapons used by the military, I cannot

13:52

say, but I'm going to call this one a stylistic

13:55

approach for the show, instead of a logical

13:57

choice. So

14:00

no guns in Europe or very few

14:03

and the ones that they do have are

14:06

simply older, antiques or

14:09

whatever. Oh yeah, I mean Canada

14:11

is the same way. We have many stricter laws

14:14

than the US for example. You

14:16

have to have a license to own

14:19

a firearm whether it's a shotgun

14:21

or a bolt action and semi-automatic rifles

14:25

are just outright banned. Yeah,

14:27

they're outright banned and handguns are also

14:29

restricted. So we have three

14:31

classifications. We have unrestricted, restricted

14:33

and prohibited. You can get an

14:36

unrestricted license fairly easily. You just go in,

14:38

you have to take a course and then you

14:40

can buy shotguns like long guns.

14:43

You can buy those but for handguns and

14:46

other restricted weapons you have to have a special

14:48

reason to do that. And

14:52

prohibited is a grandfathered

14:55

in thing. So you can have a

14:57

prohibited license if you got it before

15:00

the law prohibited weapons

15:03

somewhere. If you've had

15:05

a pistol for example

15:07

that's prohibited like a

15:09

short barrel or something like that or

15:12

even semi-automatic, you

15:14

would have had to have had that

15:16

firearm

15:17

before the laws went into effect and that's

15:19

how you got the prohibited license and

15:21

that license died with you and

15:23

you pass away that firearm

15:26

gets destroyed essentially if you own

15:28

it. We have similar restrictive

15:30

laws so they're not all over the place here but

15:32

there's a lot of hunting that goes on in

15:34

Canada so a lot of people have long guns.

15:37

Yeah, very much hunting for sure and like

15:39

Jack says similar in the UK hunting

15:42

and firming and things like that. But

15:45

yeah, we just don't have the

15:48

population of guns here that would

15:50

exist in the United States. It's

15:54

funny as you were talking I was thinking I don't

15:56

know anybody that owns guns but I do. You

15:58

do, yeah. And I can think of three

16:01

actually that owns at least one gun.

16:04

That being said, that's only recently.

16:06

Growing up here in Canada for nearly 50

16:09

years, I have

16:11

known almost nobody that

16:14

I know I'm aware that owns a gun. So they

16:16

just aren't around. They're just not as common. And

16:19

I think, you know, if

16:21

the zombie apocalypse hit and I needed to go find

16:23

a weapon, I wouldn't know where to go today,

16:26

right now. You know, it's- You can

16:28

be your best bet. Other than that, start

16:30

hitting houses. There's probably a gun safe in every

16:34

third or fourth house. Well, I don't

16:36

know about that, but you're right. I would go to police

16:38

stations or whatever, but I mean,

16:40

they're just not readily available.

16:42

So I could explain it. And as

16:45

Jack says, it's also maybe just a stylistic approach

16:47

for the show, because it kind of looks cool and it's fun.

16:49

And you know, why not? You're an old timey Europe

16:53

kind of thing. So why not have old timey weapons?

16:56

Yeah, exactly. Exactly. All

16:58

right, thank you, Jack, for that. And thank you to Jennifer

17:00

and Steph as well for sending in some feedback.

17:04

Jason, let's move on and talk

17:06

about The Walking Dead, colon, Darryl

17:08

Dixon, season one, episode

17:11

five. Dez amour. So

17:13

that's a quick one, but thank you, Grace and Coburg,

17:16

Ontario, for that title read. She also wished

17:18

us a Happy Thanksgiving. She's- Oh, nice, thank

17:20

you. She's in Canada. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving. Happy

17:22

Canadian Thanksgiving last week or a couple

17:25

days ago. Dez

17:27

amour, two loves. Can I guess, can I?

17:29

Oh, I was gonna guess what it meant. Well, you knew

17:31

that. I was gonna guess two loves. Yeah, that one I figured

17:33

out. Okay, sorry. Yeah,

17:36

so that's the title of this episode.

17:38

Now, I think Jason, this

17:41

recap for this episode is gonna be a little bit different

17:43

than usual. Okay,

17:46

you're scaring me. Go ahead. Not with

17:48

your idea. No, not scary, not scary. I hope not

17:50

anyways. You

17:53

know, it's pretty easy to identify

17:56

a few sort of distinct storylines

17:59

in this one. at least for

18:01

the most part because some things do come

18:03

together at the end but I'm gonna

18:05

go through them one at a time instead

18:07

of jump back and forth between between

18:10

all three or four storylines going on.

18:14

Okay. Which I know is gonna make it harder for you to follow

18:16

along if you have the episode in front of you but

18:18

yeah you know what are you gonna do? I'll have

18:20

to I'll have to use some of

18:22

the brainpower that I have left from

18:25

the day that I had and I

18:27

will apply it 100% 98% to this discussion. You'll apply

18:29

it 100% of the time 40% of the

18:31

time. Yeah 90%

18:37

of the time it works every time. Okay

18:39

very good. Alright well let's start

18:42

and where the episode starts and

18:44

this is Daryl and Laurent

18:47

in the boat outside of Paris.

18:50

So kind of as we predicted last week we're

18:52

not gonna see them leaving Paris

18:55

we're just gonna pick up with them after they've escaped

18:57

Paris. Okay.

18:59

Which we do. They're

19:02

on the boat they're sailing along Laurent

19:04

is there he's praying for everybody's safety.

19:07

Daryl and Aslan who's the name

19:09

of the boat captain they're chatting about the nest

19:12

and how Daryl thinks that Laurent might

19:14

be a little bit soft. He's worried that

19:16

he's you know can't handle this dangerous

19:19

world they live in now. And

19:21

so Aslan asks Daryl how he ended

19:23

up here and then explains that there's still

19:25

about 200 kilometers from the nest

19:28

where they're on their way to. Mm-hmm

19:30

I know how far that is. I do too. Daryl

19:33

didn't though they had to convert it to miles. Yeah that's

19:35

fine. Yeah that's okay. Well Canadians use

19:38

Imperial for short distances, long distances.

19:41

I know. Yeah. It's very few had said that he went

19:43

to 1600 feet I'd

19:45

be like I have no idea. I'd

19:47

have to convert that to yards divided by

19:49

three and then that's basically meters. Right.

19:53

Right yeah we we we measured long

19:55

distances and kilometers short distances

19:58

in feet and inches.

20:01

Heavy weight in kilograms

20:04

and lighter weights in pounds? Yeah

20:07

anything under a thousand pounds is Pounds

20:10

yeah anything bigger than that. I

20:12

don't know I'm not so I know what a kilogram

20:15

is But I don't think I like you

20:18

you ask me to what my weight is in kilograms

20:20

I couldn't tell you yeah, I could

20:22

approximate maybe but I'd have to go

20:25

to parents to be sure yeah I'm the same

20:27

I think I could give you a fairly accurate kilogram

20:30

weight for myself But

20:32

it's you're right pounds Are

20:35

more prominent here even though this has been a metric

20:38

country for yeah years or whatever Hardware

20:41

stores all Imperial like if you need

20:43

a sheet of plywood. It's a four by eight

20:46

sheet of plywood It's a two by four. It's

20:48

a four by six. Yeah, that's true, but

20:51

you can you can buy You

20:54

know screws and things like that are measured

20:56

in both There's yeah, there's screw

20:58

sizes in metric and Imperial. It's

21:01

all very strange Yeah,

21:03

we're in a weird spot and

21:05

people our age people our age kind

21:07

of work and speak in both People

21:10

older like my parents age

21:12

who are in their 70s almost 80s They're

21:15

a little more Imperial because they grew up

21:17

with it right my mom still speaks in Fahrenheit

21:19

Which makes no sense at all tonight. I

21:21

got nothing on temperature I know I can't

21:23

even do the conversion of my head if my all I know

21:25

is minus 40 is minus 40 Yeah,

21:28

same in both so that that's it right, but

21:30

Celsius all day all night.

21:33

That's what I speak in for temperature and

21:37

people younger than us are For

21:40

the most part kind of the same as

21:42

me I think like my kids still weigh themselves in

21:44

pounds and things like that even

21:46

though They're younger and

21:49

you know, they've learned centimeters and meters and all

21:51

that. Yeah, we're all we're all fucked up

21:53

being so close to the states And having only

21:55

converted the metric in the 70s

21:57

was it the 70s. I couldn't tell

21:59

you my think it's been roughly 50 years which

22:02

would put that in the 70s. Yeah so yeah we're

22:06

all messed up. Someday we'll go full metric but maybe

22:10

if the states did too we'd kind of catch

22:12

up. If they did then we would for sure

22:14

probably at least it would be you

22:16

know eased or evolved

22:18

out of the population. They'll

22:21

never change because the

22:23

world is too connected now. It's

22:25

you know there's too many things that are dependent on

22:28

other things that would prevent

22:30

that from happening. I think with a little

22:32

more isolation like in the 70s where I

22:35

was just like okay if I want to find out what's going

22:37

on in England I will wait a week and then somebody

22:39

will write a newspaper article about it. You

22:44

know being disconnected gives an advantage

22:47

for that kind of change.

22:48

Yeah.

22:49

All right well I never imagined we'd talk about that one

22:52

metric conversion on the show for so long

22:55

but here we are. I remember working a

22:57

couple years ago in the States and

23:00

having this whole conversation they're like what? What

23:03

do you mean you use a hybrid system? Like would

23:05

you use what now? And they didn't know what I

23:07

meant by Smarties. Our

23:09

Smarties are different than their Smarties and I didn't

23:12

know that they were different so that confused everybody.

23:14

Yeah well look we could do a whole podcast

23:16

on the differences which might be fun someday

23:19

but not today. So

23:21

listen Aslan asks Darryl

23:23

how he ended up there and Darryl explains

23:26

it but we're gonna talk about that later. He

23:29

shows him his flashback. He does that's right

23:32

he says watch this and they flashback but we'll

23:34

get there. What happens

23:36

is after a while they moor

23:39

the boat and they walk inland a little

23:41

bit to kind of like a safe

23:43

house of sorts that Aslan

23:45

knows about and they camp for the night. Laurent

23:48

catches a fish and Darryl wants to

23:51

show him how to clean it

23:53

you know give him some tips on survival how

23:55

to find food and things like

23:57

that and then they talk about who Darryl's

24:00

friends are and he mentions Judith, RJ,

24:03

Connie, Ezekiel and Carol. Yep.

24:06

Those are his friends from back home. So

24:09

Laurent and Darryl, they're talking

24:12

about praying a little bit later and

24:14

he's showing him how to put a fish on a stick

24:16

to cook it. Him through the tail, out through the

24:18

mouth. You said how you do that? I've never cooked a

24:20

fish. Like an actual fish

24:23

that I caught. Oh, I have. Plenty of

24:25

times. But actually never on a stick. I've

24:27

always had a campfire with a grill on it so you

24:29

put the fish on the grill. I mean

24:31

it was a long time ago as a kid I did that. But

24:34

up in through the tail, out through the mouth sounds like a good

24:36

tip if all you've got is a stick. But

24:38

Darryl says he doesn't pray and he reminds

24:41

Laurent that sometimes he has to do things

24:43

he doesn't want to do because

24:45

he doesn't want

24:47

to put the fish on the stick. But I think it's

24:50

appropriate to both characters. Darryl

24:52

doesn't want to pray. But sometimes you have to do

24:54

things he doesn't want to do. That's

24:56

true. There you go. Now, later

24:59

at night, they're still at this camp. Laurent

25:01

is praying for Darryl's friends. And

25:04

Darryl is talking to Aslan. And Aslan

25:07

says that their leader, a person named

25:09

Losang, will help Darryl get a boat home.

25:12

Which is of course all he wants.

25:14

They talk about promises and how even

25:17

promises can get overwhelmed by other

25:19

things sometimes. And

25:21

Aslan explains to him how Losang was able

25:24

to bring him out of a suicidal depression. At

25:26

one point, which got his life back on

25:29

track. But I think the whole promises

25:31

conversation was interesting here

25:33

too because Darryl's whole thing is

25:36

getting back home. He made a promise. He

25:39

wasn't going to leave the kids forever. Things like that.

25:43

But you've got to acknowledge that sometimes life

25:46

happens and things get in the way.

25:48

And so promises get delayed or forgotten

25:51

about altogether. Yeah. Then

25:54

shit happens. That's right. Shit does

25:56

happen. So if Darryl doesn't make it home,

25:58

you shouldn't feel bad, right? No, you shouldn't

26:01

feel bad. I mean, yeah,

26:04

things happen. You're a world away. You have

26:07

other things on your mind. Exactly. Exactly.

26:09

And like new goals

26:12

and new responsibilities

26:15

sometimes, you know? So things

26:17

can change. But

26:20

that's what they're talking about. And then that

26:22

night, Daryl is lying

26:24

in the shelter that they have.

26:27

And he hears a zombie outside. So he jumps

26:29

up, kills it, but goes out to find

26:32

Aslan impaled on a tree after

26:34

having fought some walkers that I guess

26:36

wandered into their camp. One

26:39

of them is sizzling on the ground, though. So it was one of

26:41

the burners. Right. Yeah. So

26:43

impaled on a tree. I thought he was on like a...

26:46

like what was he impaled on? A stick? Like

26:48

a branch? Oh, you're right. He actually says

26:51

it was a telephone pole, which... Yeah.

26:53

So I think it's one of those foot pegs on the telephone

26:55

pole that people climb. They got impaled

26:58

on that. Not that that's sharper than a branch.

27:01

You know, how you getting impaled on that, I wouldn't

27:04

be able to tell you. But whatever

27:06

happened, it looked

27:08

painful. It did. So he's got

27:10

this... I guess you're right. It might be one of those

27:12

footstep things on a telephone pole. So

27:15

he's got this metal rod through his back.

27:18

What I noticed about

27:20

this scene is Darryl seems to be lying there

27:22

awake, you know, not asleep. But

27:25

maybe he'd just woken up. Maybe, to be

27:27

fair, we didn't see that. Why he didn't hear the commotion

27:30

outside or Aslan didn't yell

27:32

for help or anything like that. I don't

27:34

know. But maybe Darryl

27:36

was asleep. That's all I can figure. Yeah.

27:39

Maybe he was just stuck inside his own head and wasn't

27:41

listening to other stuff. He was daydreaming.

27:44

He was daydreaming about the merry-go-round that

27:46

he was on as a kid. And

27:48

you know, that comes with music. So maybe

27:50

he was just listening to the music. Sure. He's

27:52

got his own soundtrack that follows him everywhere

27:54

he goes. And the music was just a little loud

27:56

at that point. He couldn't hear. Well, don't you?

27:59

Of course I do. Yeah, so I think

28:02

Prince Scott explained it well. It's like

28:04

you have this soundtrack of your life and it's

28:07

your inner sense of peace. Mm-hmm.

28:09

And then every once in a while something interrupts

28:11

it, like somebody jumps in front of you and yells

28:14

or kicks you while

28:16

you're sitting on the subway. And

28:18

it just interrupts your inner

28:20

peace, that soundtrack in your mind. And

28:24

the secret to life is to accepting

28:26

all of that as part of your inner

28:28

peace. Not trying to get rid of

28:30

the things that interrupt your inner peace, but accepting

28:33

it as part of it. That's

28:35

the secret to life. So I assume Daryl has that in her musical

28:40

soundtrack as well. Somebody kicks you

28:42

while you're sitting on the subway. Does that happen

28:44

to you? Well, they're walking by and you have your

28:46

legs stuck out too far and they

28:48

accidentally kick you as they're walking by. All right.

28:51

That kind of shit happens all the time. They don't just roundhouse

28:53

you enough. They bump into you. No, they don't kick you into teeth

28:55

or anything like that. Not that that's not

28:58

happened. No, it's very rare.

29:00

Lately a fair bit actually. You get jostled

29:03

or something happens like a

29:06

car honks at you while you're just standing there kind

29:08

of thing. Or somebody gets pissed

29:11

off at you at road ridge kind of thing and they honk

29:13

at you and they drive aggressively around

29:15

you and shit because I'm always going too slow

29:17

and that's why people get mad at me. I'm going to speed

29:19

limit to be fair. Yeah. Fuck

29:22

you. You can't get mad about that. Yeah. That

29:25

kind of shit messes with your inner

29:27

harmony. Right. Unless

29:30

you spend a lifetime trying to accept it. All

29:32

right. Well, this zombie messes with Darryl's

29:34

inner harmony. He jumps up and

29:37

like I said, he finds Aslan outside impaled

29:40

on this post. He's

29:42

not dead though and they talk for a minute.

29:44

Aslan gives him his pocket watch

29:47

which was part of the story

29:49

he told about Losang saving him from

29:51

this depression. And inside

29:53

the pocket watch is a picture of Mont Saint-Michel

29:56

which is where the nest is. And

29:58

he says, follow the river. go here, get

30:01

Laurent there, and everything will be

30:03

fine. Then he gives him his knife

30:05

and he dies. And we go

30:07

to a commercial break basically, but we don't see

30:10

Daryl stick him in the head, which

30:12

I think was a good choice. He didn't really need to. No,

30:14

we didn't. We know we've seen that enough. Yeah,

30:16

that's true. So the next

30:19

morning after burying Aslan,

30:22

Daryl and Laurent go back to the boat,

30:24

but the boat is gone. There it

30:27

was, gone. Just no boat

30:29

there. No boat. Yeah. Gone. They went

30:31

back to what the boat was not. That's

30:33

right. They went back, boat not there.

30:36

Yeah. Daryl realizes that Laurent

30:38

set it free in the night and it floated

30:41

away. And he flips

30:43

out. He screams at Laurent

30:45

calling him a stupid little shit and

30:47

saying some pretty nasty things like

30:50

he should have left him a long time ago. Yeah,

30:53

these were all nasty things to say. And he also drops

30:56

an F bomb, right? He goes, fuck. Oh, he

30:58

sure does. Yeah. There's like two in every episode now.

31:00

So yeah, yeah, they have a quota now.

31:02

It's not, it's not to dig it away with as many

31:04

as they can now. It's that it's like, oh,

31:06

we can have two. All right. We're having two in every

31:08

episode. That's right. It's not one per season. It's

31:11

two per episode now. So the quote has gone way up.

31:13

Yeah. But he's, he's

31:16

really upset. He says some things that

31:18

are just really, really cruel. And

31:21

he asks, Laurent, like, why would you do this? You know,

31:24

what the hell were you thinking? Why would you do this? And his answer

31:26

is that everyone he cares

31:28

about is gone. And he expects

31:31

that when they get to the nest, Daryl is going to leave

31:34

him too, which is true because all Daryl

31:36

could talk about is wanting to get home and

31:39

delivering Laurent there and then leaving. Yep.

31:42

So Daryl realizes he's

31:44

being a dick and he

31:46

apologizes and they go about their

31:48

way. But

31:51

I'll tell you, I feel like Jason, that was the

31:53

most animated

31:55

we've ever seen. Norman Reedus on any

31:57

Walking Dead show. He really liked that.

32:00

boat and he really wanted to get back

32:02

on that boat I assume so yeah

32:04

no he's he was pretty animated

32:07

and and pissed off like you really gotta

32:09

rub Daryl the wrong way to get

32:12

his goat that badly he must love Laurent

32:14

very very much to be that disappointed in him well

32:17

yeah I think it was the most emotion we've ever seen

32:19

from Daryl Dixon at least sort

32:21

of anger and aggression type emotion

32:24

or anger opposed from you know as opposed

32:26

to the murders well that

32:28

he's committed but you know that's not really emotional

32:31

which makes it a little bit worse I

32:33

don't know well you know what I mean though like yeah

32:35

sure he's murdered people and he's extremely aggressive

32:38

at times and and he does what needs to be

32:40

done but like this kind

32:42

of anger directed at a friend

32:45

who's supposed to be a friend you know I don't know that we've

32:47

ever really seen that from from Daryl

32:50

him and Rick were bros they were brothers they talked

32:52

about it and we never even I mean

32:55

correct me if I'm wrong but I don't feel like we

32:57

even saw this level of emotion

32:59

between those two at any point you know I don't

33:02

think so so he really screams at

33:04

him but like I said then apologizes

33:07

because Laurent's answer is pretty good he's like you're

33:09

gonna leave me and everyone's left me and

33:11

I don't like the sound of that so all

33:14

right so they continue along on their journey and

33:17

as they walk along Daryl

33:20

tries to reassure Laurent there will

33:22

be good people at the nest but

33:24

he wants to come back to America with Daryl

33:27

instead of staying there but Daryl

33:30

says he can't because Isabel will be looking

33:33

for him at the nest and he needs to be there when

33:35

she comes looking for him hmm you can leave

33:37

it now fair enough I suppose they could leave a note

33:39

yeah gone to America be back soon yeah

33:42

look for me in America yeah on

33:46

the north not south not anywhere in

33:48

particular no just you know I've

33:50

had I've headed for the Americas that's

33:53

right that's where I'll be fine

33:55

to be there so they're walking

33:57

along they hear a vehicle a behind

34:00

them. They try to hide but Laurent

34:02

drops a book and some of his stuff

34:05

in the road. As soon as Laurent

34:07

picked up some shit and stuffed it in his backpack

34:09

I'm like you gotta close that backpack you can't

34:11

just leave it open. I mean that's just

34:13

a disaster waiting to happen. I know. That's

34:16

how your lunch gets left in the middle of the road

34:18

and you got nothing to eat at lunchtime. Yeah

34:20

they made a point earlier on when he picked up

34:22

the backpack of telling Daryl no I can carry it myself

34:25

right? Yeah. I don't need you to be my pack mule

34:27

I can carry it and then of course

34:29

something falls out and it sort

34:32

of reveals that they're there. So they're

34:34

hiding but Daryl tells Laurent

34:36

take the watch follow the river sends him

34:39

away then Daryl is captured

34:42

and the guys that capture him started interrogating

34:45

him. Another f-bomb in

34:47

this scene nice one I thought and

34:50

just before they begin to cut his eyes

34:52

out. One eye they just said

34:54

just take his left one. Well still

34:57

pretty bad. Well it was nice that they

34:59

were gonna leave the dominant one for after.

35:02

I guess but maybe they would

35:04

just be coming out later I don't know but

35:06

just before they cut the eye out Laurent surrenders

35:09

himself and they are both captured. So

35:13

that is Laurent

35:16

and Daryl on the road some

35:18

good stuff in there I thought I felt bad for Aslan

35:21

and I was surprised that Daryl being so

35:24

pissed off at Laurent but they end

35:26

up captured. They sure do. So they don't make

35:28

it to the nest quite

35:30

yet. Let's go over

35:32

to Isabelle and Quinn now

35:35

Jason Isabelle as

35:37

we know she's gone back to be with

35:39

him or she's surrendered herself

35:41

to him for now because she

35:43

needed to so that they could get out of

35:46

Paris. She wakes up in this

35:48

fancy bedroom in a fancy bed opens

35:51

the door and out there she finds Marie who is

35:53

a new character that we haven't seen before and

35:56

Marie informs her that Quinn will be there soon.

35:58

She also finds out that they They drugged her so

36:01

she could get some rest, they claimed. That

36:04

was a nice

36:07

thing to do, is to drug someone against their will

36:09

so that they could get some rest. You

36:11

were restless, so we drugged you. You were tired.

36:14

Well, that was very fuck

36:16

you of you. Exactly. But

36:18

that's the way these people work. She

36:21

also looks out a window and she sees guards

36:24

patrolling with guns, things like that. So

36:27

later, Quinn shows up, brings her some

36:29

delicious pastries, and

36:32

he mentions that Laurent made it out of the

36:34

city. And

36:37

basically they talk about her coming around

36:39

and wanting to be with him again, and she

36:42

says she needs to pray on it. So

36:44

she's not quite on board yet. I'm

36:47

just going to think about it. Yeah,

36:49

I got to talk to my husband. Great.

36:52

See what he thinks. Yeah. So

36:55

later we see Isabelle searching around her

36:57

room. Not sure what she's looking for, except

36:59

then she breaks a piece off

37:02

the edge of a mirror and we realize

37:04

that she's looking for something she can use as a weapon.

37:07

And now she's got it. And then she starts to sharpen it. Yeah,

37:09

this sharpened piece of metal

37:11

or whatever that was on the frame of the mirror. She

37:14

made a shiv. That's nice. Pretty

37:16

much. A horrible, horrible prison if she

37:18

can make a shiv out of the second thing

37:21

she sees. She's like, could I use the

37:23

pointy edge of this heavy object to

37:25

bash him in the skull? Oh no,

37:27

there's a better weapon right there that I can just peel

37:29

off and sharpen. So it's

37:31

a crappy prison. Yeah, I mean

37:34

there's weapons all over the place

37:36

if you try hard enough. And she's in this fancy

37:38

bedroom, so it's full of weapons. Well anything

37:40

can be used as a weapon. Exactly. So

37:43

it's like my favorite joke. Did you hear about that guy

37:47

that went into a gas station to rob a gas station

37:49

with a Nerf baseball bat and he ended up killing

37:52

the attendant, the gas station attendant? Witnesses

37:54

say the slaying took nine hours. Yeah,

37:57

that's right. Witnesses.

38:00

It sure would, yeah. That's

38:02

my favorite part. Witnesses say. Right.

38:06

Witnesses for nine hours. Yeah. All

38:08

right. So later Quinn comes in with some food.

38:11

They sit and eat together.

38:14

And he talks about how he can be a better man

38:16

for her, you know? He's gonna

38:19

step it up. He's gonna be a good dude. She just

38:21

needs to be with him. Yeah,

38:23

I will make sure that you get the rest you need by

38:26

drugging you. I will keep you safe

38:28

and sound in here, except

38:31

when it's time to parade you out. Uh-huh.

38:34

Which will happen later. Spoiler alert. So,

38:38

yeah, I want to be a better man and you will

38:40

be the best slave that I've ever

38:42

had. The best one, right?

38:45

So that's what he says. Prisoner, not slave. Prisoner.

38:48

Sorry. Right. Slightly

38:50

different. Slightly. So she

38:53

gets up. She leads him over to the bed.

38:56

Apparently, Jason, about to give

38:58

in to his desires. No.

39:01

I was thinking apparently just to get

39:03

him in a place where she could slit his throat. Well,

39:05

yes, but to his, from his perspective,

39:08

he thinks he's gonna get some, right? So

39:11

she kisses him. We see her secretly

39:13

take the weapon out of her pocket, the shiv. And

39:17

then he quotes this biblical story of

39:19

Abraham sacrificing his son, but

39:23

that his son Isaac was saved, and then Abraham

39:25

was redeemed in the end, kind

39:28

of comparing himself or

39:30

injecting himself into that story, saying

39:32

everyone can

39:35

be redeemed. You know, I believe that, and so do you,

39:37

he says to her. Right. And

39:39

hearing this, it seems to change

39:41

her mind. So she steps away and she doesn't kill him

39:44

or have sex with him. Right.

39:47

So the best of both worlds. I guess so, yeah.

39:50

I'm not sure what that means. No. But

39:53

I mean, bottom line is he

39:56

seems to have convinced her that maybe people can

39:58

change or maybe that he

40:00

actually has changed. I don't think she really believes

40:02

that, but at least it caused

40:05

her to pause and not slit his

40:07

throat in the moment. Well

40:09

we need him for the next episode because otherwise

40:12

it doesn't make any sense, right? Like he hasn't changed.

40:15

He's still a self-centered

40:19

Machiavellian narcissist

40:22

that takes objects

40:24

of desire without consent

40:28

or thought that they are a real person.

40:30

They're just people are things for him to

40:34

possess and to use. He

40:36

has not changed, but

40:39

the fact that he says that I

40:41

believe in change is

40:44

enough for her to change her

40:46

mind about him seems

40:49

plot contrived. It just seems

40:51

a little convenient. Well that's what I was gonna say.

40:54

That is enough to make her change

40:56

her mind. Maybe it is. I

40:59

mean she's a kind

41:02

of person who I do feel like would respect

41:07

that kind of thing. You know what I mean? She doesn't

41:09

want to take it lightly that yes maybe someone

41:11

can change and if I kill him I

41:13

will be taking away that opportunity. I

41:16

know he's a bad guy and stuff like that, but

41:19

I think it's within her character to

41:23

at least have second thoughts about what she's about

41:25

to do after hearing something like that. Maybe

41:28

it's not about him at all. It's about the

41:30

fact that she feels that she has

41:32

changed since

41:34

she saw him last and if she kills him she

41:37

hasn't changed. She wants to believe

41:39

that she is the one

41:41

that has changed and is trying to protect

41:44

herself from reverting

41:46

back rather than believing that

41:48

he can be different. Actually that's

41:51

very true right because we know she was a thief

41:53

and into some bad stuff pre-apocalypse

41:56

apocalypse hit and she became a

41:59

nun and Dedicated her life to

42:01

well, whatever whatever good could come

42:03

of that which is probably lots and so

42:05

you're right I think she probably was

42:08

like I don't want to revert back to the way I

42:10

was before so I have to find another way here I

42:12

think that makes more sense to me. I like it. That's the one

42:14

I'm gonna have to hang on to. Yeah. Yeah, it's

42:17

good now meanwhile Anna Quinn's

42:21

sort of current girlfriend is

42:23

has she's shown up and she's waiting outside

42:26

the room for him and when he walks out She

42:28

just smashes a wine glass and storms out

42:31

and you know what I thought when that happened What do you think I'm

42:34

saying from his point of view? It's like oh, no, you

42:36

spilled something that my cleaning lady has to clean

42:38

up now What's

42:41

her name Marie the pastry lady has to clean

42:43

up? Yeah. Oh, no, somebody has to clean

42:45

that up now You really made a point there. What

42:48

will we do? I'm gonna go listen to the radio

42:50

Well, I was thinking at this moment in

42:52

the episode I'm

42:54

still sort of sitting here questioning why she's

42:57

even on the show now. It will

42:59

be revealed shortly But

43:02

as I said in the last episode, I think I'm like, I don't

43:04

even know why she's such a big part of this

43:06

the whole Go watch Laurent in the room

43:09

if here's a gun and lift like if

43:11

anyone didn't think she was going to double cross Quinn

43:13

You're just not paying attention. So I

43:15

don't know same thing here. I'm like why she even there?

43:18

What's the point? Well, I think she's

43:20

like Gollum You know, he got him

43:23

when he first showed up in the in Lord of the

43:25

Rings or not the Gandalf

43:27

said You know Frodo was

43:29

saying why did why didn't we just kill him? like we just killed

43:31

this guy, you know, he's a pain in the butt and

43:33

he's gonna be a pain in the butt and And

43:36

Gandalf said no, I still think he has a part

43:38

to pull right? So he's a pain

43:40

in the butt and he just kind of hangs on.

43:42

We don't know why he's there He doesn't

43:45

do anything in the in the end. He's instrumental

43:47

to To the resolution of the

43:49

storyline without him the story

43:52

would not be resolved Okay, so we'd

43:54

miss so he had a part to play

43:56

and Gandalf was right because you know, he's

43:58

a higher Choir

44:00

of being in humans. So

44:02

he knows things that humans don't and has really

44:05

really long gray hair He sure does and at

44:07

the end of the day Anna is sort

44:10

of the same She plays a part later in

44:12

this episode that we'll get to Now

44:15

Isabel is sitting in her room sometime later

44:18

and she has her shiv out and she's about

44:20

to slit her wrists. So she's She's

44:24

gonna kill herself instead of

44:26

killing Quinn But just

44:28

a try again because she said she has scars

44:31

right? So yeah done this before that's

44:33

right But just before she can do

44:35

it Marie brings in breakfast and reveals

44:38

that there is a secret note hidden under

44:40

the plate Apparently the

44:42

eggs that are on the plate are

44:44

fresh and were delivered by a friend

44:46

which included this note Mm-hmm.

44:50

So a couple things interesting about that.

44:52

I thought number one Marie another

44:55

character who's willing to Kind

44:58

of double-cross Quinn a little bit because

45:01

she points out the note. She knows

45:03

it's there Yeah, and

45:05

if she was really Loyal

45:07

to Quinn you wouldn't think she

45:09

would do that Quinn's an asshole.

45:12

Yeah of the highest order and everybody knows

45:14

it right and they seem to just want

45:16

to Double-cross him every chance they get

45:19

Yeah,

45:20

how the hell has he gotten to this like

45:23

level of stature? when like

45:25

no one trusts him and he I

45:27

mean seems like he can't really trust anybody I'm

45:30

not sure I can see it per se but yeah,

45:33

probably very pretty well He is

45:35

as we know from Jennifer's email earlier Well

45:39

when he fights, yeah, you know, we don't know whether

45:41

it's necessarily the The

45:43

sheer brute force of the violence that would be

45:46

the inciting factor of that Emotional

45:49

response or whether it was the prettiness of the people

45:51

involved. I assume he seems

45:53

like a nice enough guy But I can't

45:56

I can't look at him without thinking that guy's an evil

45:58

fucker. Yeah from From

46:00

everything I've ever seen him in well, I don't even know if

46:02

he seems like a nice guy I mean you've identified

46:04

all kinds of qualities in this dude that are

46:07

less than optimal. So Yeah,

46:09

I mean it's just surprising that he's amassed

46:11

this much power when everyone is like constantly

46:14

double crossing him But it is what

46:16

it is. Maybe that doesn't matter narcissists

46:19

can be Extremely charming,

46:22

you know, they learn how to interact

46:24

and manipulate people so they

46:26

can be extremely charming and be extremely

46:29

powerful So

46:32

that's yeah, very true. I

46:34

can name a few off Phil Spector for

46:36

one Complete, you

46:38

know absolute genius Wallace sound As

46:41

far as you know musical genius, but he was a short

46:43

little fucker He's a complete narcissist

46:46

ended up murdering somebody in his

46:48

house Because she probably told him

46:50

he was a little twerp and that was enough to set

46:52

him off complete narcissistic

46:55

asshole But also fuck

46:57

he was Phil Spector. I mean he was he's a big

47:00

deal. Yeah, that's true. It's true I

47:02

guess you can be both and Quinn is

47:05

yeah crazily enough All right. So

47:07

later Quinn brings a diamond necklace

47:10

into Isabel He claims

47:12

that he picked it up 12 years ago for

47:14

her, you know, when everyone was looting things

47:16

in the early apocalypse days And

47:19

he's had it this whole time. I stole

47:21

this for you a long time ago a long

47:23

time ago I've given it to four other women, but they're

47:25

all dead now So you they're all dead and I keep taking

47:27

a bag from them because they don't need it anymore

47:30

No, I wanted it for the next girl. I mean

47:32

you I got it for you for you I

47:35

didn't think it would take so long to get it to you and

47:38

the trail of bodies there didn't think there'd be

47:40

so many Yeah, there's a lot of cereal

47:42

colors that take trophies. Yeah of jewelry

47:44

and then give them to their wives Yes,

47:47

creepy, man And

47:49

so yeah Take that as you

47:52

know for what it's worth. Yep Well

47:55

Quinn mentions that he has an invitation

47:57

to a gathering that Jennie is

47:59

putting on

48:00

And then Isabelle puts on the necklace and tells

48:02

Quinn that sure they can start over.

48:05

I can be your trophy. There you go. So

48:08

we see them arriving at Janae's event

48:11

and Isabelle

48:13

notices her friends Falu,

48:15

Sylvie and Emil in the crowd

48:18

and They

48:22

are then admitted to see

48:24

they're admitted to the the facility the building

48:26

and as they're being led through some

48:28

halls they see a man being beaten in a

48:31

cell and Janae explains

48:33

that he is being punished for accepting

48:35

a bribe to allow people out

48:38

of the city So

48:40

he's the guy that Quinn bribed

48:43

to get Daryl and Laurent out of Paris

48:46

and now he's paying the price The

48:49

two of them are taken to a room with a cell and it

48:51

is revealed that Anna Radded them out

48:53

to Janae Daryl's in that cell

48:56

and then Janae locks Quinn up

48:58

with Daryl So this is where Anna

49:01

finally double crosses him for the last time

49:04

and he is no longer in Janae's good

49:06

graces Why put them in the

49:08

same cell? I mean the only thing

49:10

I can think of why they would put them in the same

49:12

cell is they can both escape at the Same time

49:14

instead of just Daryl escaping. I

49:17

don't know maybe she thinks like they'll kill each other

49:19

Like maybe they'll fight and one of them will kill the other one.

49:21

I don't know I don't want she doesn't want that she

49:24

wants Daryl for a little bit later But I just

49:26

I wonder why they're in the same cell at

49:28

this point Maybe she only has one cell it's

49:31

all she can do. Yeah, I've only got one

49:33

cell. That's right I only need to keep

49:35

one person in there at a time. That's right. But

49:37

if another one ever came up, what would you do? I

49:40

I would be a dilemma. That's for sure. That's right.

49:43

So here

49:45

we are and now

49:49

Quinn is not in the good books with

49:51

Janae anymore and She's

49:54

captured Daryl. She's captured Laurent

49:57

and has Isabel as well Isabelle

50:01

seems to realize that things haven't gone too well,

50:04

or not how she planned or hoped anyways. Yeah

50:07

we are in the the darkest of

50:09

despair at this point. We are in the the

50:12

value of despair. That's right. So

50:15

at this point in the episode, Daryl's

50:17

storyline and Isabelle's storyline

50:20

have come together. So

50:22

the next section we're going to go through is

50:25

kind of the aligned story with

50:27

these two, including Laurent as well. And

50:30

then there's something else we'll get to at the end. So

50:34

Isabelle is reunited with Laurent

50:37

in Janay's office and Janay is explaining

50:40

that she wants Laurent

50:42

to make an appearance at this gathering she's hosting.

50:45

She's trying to unite the French people, she

50:47

says, a whole like born

50:50

from the ashes kind of vibe. And

50:53

this is a special child Laurent and he's

50:56

you know he's she thinks she's gonna help her

50:58

do that like convince the people that this is a

51:00

unified France and look

51:02

at this kid he can he can be important

51:05

and lead us and things like that. So

51:07

that's what she's explaining they don't want to do it but she

51:10

says you don't have a choice. Of course

51:12

no one ever has a choice and things like this. Now

51:15

Quinn he's threatening Daryl in the cell

51:17

saying that if he'd done his part none of this would

51:19

be happening so he's blaming Daryl for

51:22

not getting fair enough away I guess getting

51:25

the safety and then

51:27

some guys come and take Daryl out of

51:29

his cell leaving Quinn behind. Now

51:33

Janay, Laurent and Isabelle they

51:35

arrive at her position

51:38

for the event which seems to be up on kind of

51:40

a balcony overlooking something below. I assumed

51:43

it was a basketball court of some kind where they

51:45

were gonna play you know three on

51:47

three. Yeah. That's what I assumed at the time

51:49

it's like obviously this is basketball. Obviously

51:52

of course it might have been a basketball court but

51:55

we can just say right now it's actually some kind of fighting

51:57

pit. Oh yeah I would

51:59

have also gone with badminton. Sure. I could

52:02

have seen this as a badminton court as well. Yeah.

52:04

All right. Well, they're over. So some kind of fighting pit.

52:06

Yes. They're overlooking it maybe for a badminton

52:09

game, maybe for some sort of combat. Now

52:12

she begins delivering this speech to the

52:14

people. The

52:16

whole speech is actually transcribed on the Walking

52:19

Dead Wiki if you want to go read it. It's

52:22

there. But the gist of it is that she

52:24

has brought the people together into a new unified

52:26

France. She calls it the Fifth

52:29

Republic or the Sixth Republic. I

52:31

wrote down Fifth but I have a feeling she said Sixth.

52:33

It could have been Sixth. Okay. I don't know. We'd

52:36

have to count the Republics to get there. Right.

52:38

And that could take all night. But

52:41

another important point from the speech is she

52:44

says it won't be like the past where the few ruled

52:46

over the many. She seems to be trying

52:48

to convince these people that it will be much

52:51

more equal and everyone will have

52:54

a certain level of equality. So like

52:56

the French Revolution that's like going from the first

52:58

to the second Republic. I don't think

53:00

the first one was a Republic. So I don't know. I don't

53:02

know. But that's what she's trying to tell

53:04

them. Meanwhile

53:07

Daryl is led into

53:09

this fighting pit.

53:12

Of course they're overlooking this and

53:14

Jeanette finishes her speech.

53:18

A guy comes in and drops a weapon

53:20

at Daryl's feet. It was a Halberd,

53:23

right? I thought it was some kind

53:25

of axe. Halberd is like taller

53:28

than a man. Oh but I

53:30

looked up Halberd and it has

53:32

the blade shape on the end of it. Like

53:34

I think maybe it was one that had the handle broken off

53:36

or something maybe? Okay could be. Anyways,

53:40

Daryl's given this weapon. They

53:43

lead a zombie into the pit that is restrained.

53:46

Another guy shoots it with a dart that injects

53:48

it with some kind of super soldier

53:50

serum. Super zombie soldier

53:53

serum. Yes. We can see

53:55

the serum pulsing through the

53:57

zombie veins I guess. we

54:00

kind of watch it mutate. It seems to get really

54:02

upset and very,

54:05

I don't know, wild and crazy. Yeah,

54:08

it's going berserk.

54:10

It's a pleasing taste, some monsterism. Right,

54:13

exactly. So, Codron

54:15

is up there. He yells from above that today,

54:18

Darryl Dixon dies for his brother. Remember

54:21

Darryl feels his brother? That's convenient.

54:23

He didn't have anything to do with this. He's not dying

54:25

for his brother. He's

54:27

just chirping. He's just a bunch of bullshit. Yeah, fair enough.

54:30

Darryl grabs the axe, zombie

54:32

is released, it sprints towards

54:35

Darryl. So, this is a fast, strong,

54:38

mutated, variant zombie. Due

54:40

to the injection that we saw it get, Darryl

54:44

raises- They're not trying to cure zombies,

54:46

and they're trying to fucking make super zombies.

54:49

Well, these ones seem to be. These people seem to

54:51

be. That's for sure, yeah.

54:53

But this thing looks pretty dangerous. He raised-

54:55

Darryl raises the axe, almost like a baseball

54:58

bat, and readies to defend

55:00

himself against this super

55:02

zombie. The end. Cut

55:05

the book. Episode over. Swing

55:07

away. And yeah,

55:09

we will find out what happened the next week, I

55:12

guess, with Darryl and the super

55:14

zombie in the fighting pit. You

55:16

think he's gonna get really big like

55:19

The Incredible Hulk, and this is sort of like

55:21

a Thor movie? Who's gonna get a big zombie? The

55:24

zombie, yeah. You think he's gonna

55:26

do a Hulk? He's gonna Hulk out? Oh

55:29

my god. What are you doing? No, I think

55:31

he's just fast and mean, basically. Yeah,

55:33

like a Hulk. Well, he's fine, but

55:35

I don't think he's gonna Hulk out and get huge

55:38

and green. Well, I don't

55:40

know about green, but we could go with gray, or green

55:42

is zombie color. There's nothing wrong with that.

55:44

Yeah, that's true. I think

55:46

he's just got super speed and some super

55:49

strength for now. But that's

55:51

enough. Darryl's in some danger here, for sure.

55:54

Oh yeah, because he doesn't know the capabilities.

55:56

I mean, this is a boss fight. This is the first

55:58

round of a boss fight. You gotta learn the weak spot,

56:01

you gotta learn that you gotta dodge over here and

56:03

then hit the tail three times. I

56:05

assume the zombie has a tail. Probably.

56:08

And then that will make them

56:10

spin around in a circle and

56:13

drop something that can be used

56:15

to fight them. I'm thinking Super

56:17

Mario of some kind. My son's been playing

56:19

a lot of Super Mario games and this is

56:21

how the boss fights go. Yeah, you gotta figure

56:24

out the trick and then it becomes much easier

56:26

otherwise you're just shooting it or hitting it

56:28

in all the wrong spots. So

56:30

that's something that's gonna happen next week. Daryl has to survive

56:33

this fight and escape somehow

56:35

basically. But for now, cut to black

56:38

and Daryl's in some trouble so

56:41

we should be worried for him for the next few days. I

56:44

think so but maybe the fade to black

56:46

and when we fade in from black

56:49

in the next episode that that

56:51

would represent three to four hundred

56:53

times that Daryl has tried to defeat

56:56

this boss and has failed and

56:58

eventually learns the secrets so the

57:00

next time we see it we only see the continuation

57:03

of the successful round rather than

57:05

the hundreds of failures it took to learn the

57:07

secrets. Yeah, maybe. We

57:10

skipped getting out of Paris. There

57:12

is no way we're gonna skip Daryl

57:14

fighting this thing. If we

57:17

start next week's episode and it's dead on the ground,

57:19

I'm gonna be really disappointed. There's no way they

57:21

would do that. I'm gonna throw my controller at

57:24

the screen at that point. Do it. I'm

57:26

done. Yeah, we gotta see this fight

57:28

and it doesn't have to be long and Daryl

57:31

can dominate this guy for all I care but

57:33

like we need to see

57:35

him do something, right? We gotta see this fight.

57:37

So first, not the first I

57:39

guess but it's a direct

57:42

interaction with a super zombie and

57:45

you know I guess Daryl is very

57:50

well or one of the better prepared for

57:52

this based on something he went

57:54

through a little while ago. It'd be

57:56

hilarious if he just cut off its head and that

57:58

was the end of it. like sling and then

58:01

that's it one swing and the head goes yeah

58:03

yeah everybody's like so that'd

58:06

be awesome we've never seen someone do that before yeah

58:09

all right well we

58:11

got one more storyline to talk about in this episode

58:13

Jason and this is all the flashback stuff

58:16

so way back at the beginning when Aslan

58:18

asked Daryl how did you get here

58:21

well

58:22

we now know we found out my flashback

58:24

here's the flashback so we go into the past

58:27

he is walking his motorcycle along

58:30

the road he's out of fuel he runs

58:32

into a guy who asks him if he's

58:34

good with the crossbow and

58:37

I thought he said he was talking about the motorcycle

58:39

like you good with that and they showed the motorcycle

58:42

with the crossbow on the side I'm like he's

58:44

talking about walking the cross but walking

58:46

the the motorcycle is you know you

58:49

good at walking the motorcycle I couldn't figure it

58:51

out I think he was talking about the crossbow that's why the camera

58:53

was kind of focused on Daryl's midsection

58:56

holding a knife and so I

58:58

first thought he meant are you good with the knife but

59:01

I think he meant the crossbow he's like that's a fake

59:03

it's vague it's vague but it's a it's

59:06

a pretty it might be an unusual

59:08

weapon so the guy sees it and is like oh good

59:10

with the crossbow hey you know maybe I don't

59:13

know maybe he should have said are you good with that crossbow I

59:15

mean the confusion was unnecessary yeah

59:18

because you walk up to somebody you say you good with that

59:20

like what yeah what

59:23

what are you talking about you my good with what I'm

59:25

walking a motorcycle here walk

59:28

my motorcycle leave me alone am

59:30

I good with what exactly yeah well

59:32

anyways the guy takes him back to some

59:35

kind of like auto repair junkyard type

59:37

place seems to be populated

59:39

with a bunch of other rough looking dudes you

59:41

know a lot of people hanging around but as Daryl

59:43

arrives he sees the doctor whose

59:46

name is actually dr. Le Fleur speaking

59:49

French on a radio so this is a guy

59:51

we've seen before over in France but

59:53

back in the past he's in America

59:57

oh that's the path that Daryl takes yeah

59:59

how about that

1:00:01

Now, the guy who brought Daryl in explains

1:00:04

that they are to go out

1:00:06

and they're to bring back zombies. He

1:00:08

says adults only, no elderly,

1:00:10

no shorties. They've got to be five foot four

1:00:12

inches or taller, which

1:00:15

I wish I could quote in centimeters, but I can't.

1:00:19

The doctor tells them, he

1:00:22

won't tell them why they're gathering them, but they're

1:00:24

going to be paid in fuel

1:00:27

and they will receive more gas for

1:00:30

fresh ones. Nice. So,

1:00:32

newer zombies. So,

1:00:35

I guess the question I would have is, once

1:00:37

your gas tank's full, what's

1:00:40

the incentive to keep these people around? Yeah,

1:00:45

I mean, probably not a lot. So,

1:00:47

that's like what, two days worth of work? Even if you catch

1:00:49

one or two zombies a day, you've got to be able to

1:00:52

fill up a motorcycle within a couple

1:00:54

of days. And then all of a sudden, your trained

1:00:56

workforce drives away. You've

1:00:58

got to be a better thing than just paying in

1:01:00

fuel. How about paying in frozen

1:01:03

chocolate covered bananas? That

1:01:05

probably would keep more people than

1:01:08

gasoline. I'm sure gasoline's a good incentive,

1:01:10

but you can never have too

1:01:13

many frozen chocolate covered bananas.

1:01:15

No, I've always thought that. But

1:01:18

maybe you're

1:01:19

going to run out of gas sooner

1:01:22

or later, even if you leave, and then you just got

1:01:24

to come back again. So maybe they have a

1:01:26

workforce that's just cycling through all the time.

1:01:28

They leave for a while, they run out of gas, they come back, they

1:01:30

work a bit, they leave for a while. I don't know.

1:01:33

I don't know, it seems odd. Yeah, it seems a little odd. I mean,

1:01:35

you could put some chopped nuts on that

1:01:38

chocolate covered banana, and people

1:01:40

will always come back for the nuts. They never leave,

1:01:42

man. Yeah. Yeah, you have too many

1:01:44

people then working there. Yeah,

1:01:47

okay, that's a problem. Yeah.

1:01:50

So look, there's also this kid there, and his name is TJ,

1:01:53

and he wants to team up with somebody, but

1:01:55

nobody wants to do it. No, because

1:01:57

nobody likes anybody named TJ. I

1:02:00

guess not sorry I've never been I've never

1:02:02

been a TJ that I liked I have a cousin

1:02:04

named T John which you know has TJ

1:02:07

for short His

1:02:09

name isn't TJ. Maybe that's this guy's name or

1:02:12

maybe his name is Thomas John. I

1:02:14

think it's Trevor Gene Trevor

1:02:16

Gene and yeah, cuz if your name is Trevor Gene

1:02:18

you're going with TJ. Yeah, fair enough. Let's face

1:02:20

it It's very true

1:02:24

All right. Sorry you've any of our listeners are named

1:02:26

Trevor Gene. I hope there is somebody

1:02:28

I don't mean it No, but I want to hear from

1:02:31

you Trevor Gene and know if you go by TJ

1:02:34

Trevor Gene McGillicuddy that'd be that's

1:02:36

a hell of a name. Yeah That's

1:02:38

a great name. That's that's a name you got to say in

1:02:40

full every time you say it Yeah, though.

1:02:43

Yeah, you would never say, you know, just

1:02:45

a short form of anything. It's like what's your name? It's Trevor

1:02:47

Gene McGillicuddy. Yeah, of course

1:02:49

it is nice to meet you. Nice to meet you alright,

1:02:52

so the doctors in America gathering zombies

1:02:54

for experimentation Jason and and

1:02:58

It's interesting that they only want adults and tall

1:03:00

people or well, they don't they're doing experiments

1:03:03

that they have to have You

1:03:06

know, the group has to be consistent, right if you

1:03:08

have oh, yeah, I don't know why no shorties but

1:03:11

Other than that, I mean you have to have a consistent

1:03:15

test set of test subjects

1:03:17

Mm-hmm. I guess that makes sense.

1:03:19

Yeah, everyone they bring them into the the cargo

1:03:21

containers There's flashing lights in there like a strobe

1:03:23

light. Did you see that? Yeah, so we

1:03:26

Darryl goes out and rounds up a bunch of zombies, which

1:03:29

is pretty cool you you know,

1:03:31

right ropes them up and leads them all back

1:03:33

and he You

1:03:37

know the people are impressed with this because

1:03:39

the other guys who go out they bring it back a few

1:03:41

but not as many As a team they

1:03:43

go out and bring back a few. Yeah, they're all comes back

1:03:46

with like a bunch. Yeah He

1:03:48

does so you're right They put them in this

1:03:50

room or it's like a shipping container with

1:03:53

flashing strobe lights going on in there And

1:03:55

the guy calls it the party room, which I think is

1:03:57

a fun name for it. That is a good name But what's

1:03:59

this all about? What do you think they're doing in there? I

1:04:01

think zombies are attracted to light and

1:04:04

sound. So maybe they put

1:04:06

that in there just to keep them interested

1:04:08

in facing the wall. Kind of thing.

1:04:10

Because when Daryl ushers his

1:04:13

wagon train or his pony train of zombies

1:04:16

in there, he just hits them with a stick and they're all

1:04:19

walking up the ramp right in towards the party room.

1:04:21

Right? Like they must fucking love it. Yeah.

1:04:24

I guess. I mean, I had a similar thought. Like

1:04:26

maybe it's just enough to attract them

1:04:28

in, right? And they just wander in and that's where they want

1:04:30

them to be. And then they turn off the lights and too

1:04:33

late they're stuck in a shipping container. I don't know.

1:04:35

I had a strobe light in the 80s. It was friggin

1:04:38

great. I absolutely loved it. I'm

1:04:40

sorry. I don't have it anymore. Frankly.

1:04:43

Back in the time that when Break

1:04:47

Dance came out, that movie, what was it called? Breakin?

1:04:49

I think there was a movie called Breakin, yeah. Yeah,

1:04:51

that came out and I learned

1:04:53

how to break dance. It was awesome. I

1:04:56

was very good. I'd love to see that now. I

1:04:58

could do the shit out of a worm. Not now.

1:05:03

Alright. I

1:05:05

might be able to do a backspin, but... You still

1:05:07

do like the helicopter thing where you swing your

1:05:09

legs around? That was awesome. Oh, God.

1:05:11

I wish we all had cameras in our

1:05:13

pockets in the 80s like we do now because

1:05:16

we could have seen some awesome shit. Oh

1:05:19

yeah. I remember going into a Halloween

1:05:22

dance dressed as a karate guy. And

1:05:26

there was everybody standing around in a circle and people were going

1:05:29

into breakdance. And I fucking damn if I didn't

1:05:31

go in there and do my breakdance moves. It

1:05:33

was awesome. With Billy Ocean playing in the background.

1:05:35

It's amazing. Get out of my dreams.

1:05:37

Get into my car. Oh my God. Those

1:05:40

were the 80s and I 80s the

1:05:43

shit out of the 80s. Peak of Jason's

1:05:45

life was in the 80s, the 80s. It

1:05:48

was pretty cool.

1:05:51

That night

1:05:52

at the auto repair junkyard, TJ's

1:05:55

asking for help again. Juno,

1:05:58

who's one of the other dudes who brought back... not

1:06:00

as many zombies as Daryl. He

1:06:02

goes, he tells him to go chop some firewood

1:06:05

and they'll consider

1:06:07

letting him come tomorrow. Turns

1:06:10

out TJ sucks at chopping firewood just

1:06:12

like he sucks at capturing zombies. So

1:06:14

Daryl gives him some tips and as

1:06:17

he leaves him to chop some firewood, Daryl

1:06:19

goes inside to see if he can use

1:06:22

the radio because he

1:06:24

sees the guy go to the radio cage. Uh-huh.

1:06:26

So he gets in there on the

1:06:29

radio and he ends up talking to

1:06:31

his old friend Carol. Melissa

1:06:34

McBride as I live and breathe. That's

1:06:36

right. He tells her

1:06:38

that he's in Maine near the coast.

1:06:41

So he's traveled all the way up to Maine. She

1:06:43

confirms to him that things are good at

1:06:45

home. They're pretty quiet. But

1:06:49

he can sense something in her voice, I think

1:06:51

and and tells

1:06:54

her that he's gathering fuel and will be back

1:06:56

in about a week. Oh, no. His

1:06:58

plan is to get the gas and head home, right?

1:07:01

Broken promises right there. Yeah, so

1:07:03

there's there's a broken promise or a promise

1:07:05

that hasn't yet gone unfulfilled,

1:07:08

let's say. Yeah, it's not that

1:07:10

he failed. It's that he's pretty successful. Right.

1:07:13

That's right. He's pretty successful. Yeah. So

1:07:17

just before the radio cuts out Jason, he

1:07:20

hears Carol tell him that somebody

1:07:22

came back. Mm-hmm. The name

1:07:25

of the person is unclear and Daryl

1:07:27

says, Carol who came back who came back? But

1:07:29

the radio's signal is gone. Was

1:07:33

it alpha? Did alpha come back or maybe beta?

1:07:35

They're dead. Probably

1:07:37

not. They're pretty dead. Yeah, it's got to be somebody

1:07:39

else then. So I don't

1:07:42

know if you... Well, here's the thing.

1:07:44

Okay, let's let's let's break this down. I don't know

1:07:46

how many times you listen to this audio Jason

1:07:49

or watch this part of the episode, but I watched it a few

1:07:51

times. Between zero and one.

1:07:54

Okay, so not even a full one.

1:07:56

Good thing you're here. No, it's somewhere in there. Okay.

1:07:59

It could be... one. I could be zero. I'm not

1:08:01

telling you. Okay. It's between zero and one. If

1:08:04

you listen closely, Jason, you

1:08:07

can hear Carol say, Ick

1:08:10

came back. Ick

1:08:12

came back. Ick came back. And

1:08:15

there's only one name I can think of that

1:08:18

sounds like Ick. And that's Rick.

1:08:21

Michonne. No. So

1:08:23

I think the show just

1:08:25

told us that Rick came back. And

1:08:28

this is an incredible

1:08:30

tease for the

1:08:33

ones who live, the Rick and Michonne

1:08:35

show that's coming up. And

1:08:38

if it's not Rick, who could

1:08:40

it be? Patrick? There's

1:08:43

no Patrick. Patrick. No.

1:08:46

Michonne. Eric? Eric, he's dead.

1:08:48

There's no, there was an Eric. It

1:08:51

was Aaron's boyfriend. He's dead. Remember? Oh, yeah.

1:08:53

Right. So he's not coming back. Unless,

1:08:55

okay, unless they mean, she means someone reanimated

1:08:58

as a zombie came back. Yeah.

1:09:00

Okay. I didn't think of that until just now, but I

1:09:03

don't think she meant he's that stupid

1:09:05

shit came back. Okay.

1:09:08

So listen, Michonne is gone. Who

1:09:10

could Michonne could potentially come back, but there's

1:09:12

no way Ick sounds like Michonne. Michonne.

1:09:15

Yeah. Morgan. Okay. Morgan

1:09:18

was long gone. And Morgan could

1:09:20

come back, but Morgan also

1:09:22

doesn't sound like Ick. Not

1:09:24

even a little bit. Heath. Heath

1:09:27

left and never came back. Also name

1:09:29

doesn't really work. Yep.

1:09:32

We figured out last week or maybe the week before

1:09:34

that dog stayed with Judith.

1:09:37

So maybe if dog ran off, maybe

1:09:39

he came back. Dog came back.

1:09:42

With a girlfriend? Yeah, maybe. Maybe he went

1:09:44

to find love and found it and came back. I don't know.

1:09:46

I think of a girl dog name that sounds

1:09:49

like Ick though. You

1:09:51

work on that for a minute. I don't have any other names.

1:09:54

Like those are all the people that

1:09:56

potentially could have come back.

1:09:59

So I gotta

1:10:01

say, I think it was

1:10:03

genius that they put this scene in the episode

1:10:05

because it's such a good tease

1:10:09

for whatever's coming. I

1:10:12

have to admit I got chills down

1:10:14

my spine when she said somebody came

1:10:16

back. I'm like, oh my god, this is so exciting, who

1:10:18

could it be? Are they multiplying?

1:10:21

What? You got chills. I got chills! They're

1:10:25

multiplying. Yeah, I guess they are.

1:10:27

I guess they are. I got chills when she said that.

1:10:31

And I realized that in

1:10:34

the current Walking Dead universe, this

1:10:37

is pretty much one of the central

1:10:39

mysteries of the show. Like where's Rick? Is

1:10:42

he coming back? Right? Yeah.

1:10:44

I think a lot of what we have watched over the

1:10:46

last little while has been leading up to that

1:10:49

reveal, which is going to happen on the ones

1:10:51

who live. I think this was a brilliant

1:10:54

time to put in this little

1:10:56

tease for it. And I loved it. There

1:10:59

you go. Yeah, I loved it. I

1:11:01

didn't realize that, but that's good. When

1:11:03

she said came back, I heard that part.

1:11:06

And I'm like, well, I assume that she

1:11:08

sort of means Rick, but probably doesn't mean

1:11:11

Rick, but I didn't hear the ick parts. That's really

1:11:13

compelling. Yeah, it is. And

1:11:15

I didn't hear it the first time. It's just kind of muffled

1:11:17

radio noise. Now, I

1:11:19

hope I'm not just hearing what I want to hear.

1:11:23

But I listen to it a lot. And I think it's there.

1:11:25

But it really sounds like she says Rick came back. Now,

1:11:28

you'd think she'd lead with that as well. It's like, hey, Daryl,

1:11:30

you're out there looking for this guy? He came back. So

1:11:33

you should quickly make your way home, right? No,

1:11:36

if you're on a shitty radio channel and

1:11:38

the receptionist's body in could

1:11:40

break down at any time, you leave that

1:11:42

shit to the end. Right. Right?

1:11:46

Because it's not that you want to convey information.

1:11:48

It's that you want to tell a compelling story

1:11:50

that ends with

1:11:53

a big bang kind of thing. You leave the best

1:11:55

for last. Flair for drama. That's

1:11:57

right. Yeah, that's what everyone has. That's

1:12:00

what I've learned. Which is

1:12:02

why when something significant happens in my

1:12:04

life and I have to tell somebody about it, I lead

1:12:07

with whatever news is there. The good news

1:12:09

or the bad news. Like I start

1:12:12

off with, everybody's okay. Here's

1:12:14

what happens. That's right. You don't just start

1:12:16

telling the stories like, okay, well there was this car

1:12:19

that came out of nowhere. And

1:12:21

you start with the good news that everybody's

1:12:23

fine. It's all right. Something

1:12:26

happened. Start with the end and then

1:12:28

go back to the beginning. Well anyways,

1:12:31

I thought it was amazing. But if

1:12:34

we continue on in the episode, the next day,

1:12:38

Juno and his crew bring back some

1:12:40

zombies, including poor TJ

1:12:42

who's now a walker. So they let him come out with them

1:12:44

and then they killed him. And he's

1:12:47

one of the walkers they brought back because

1:12:49

he's fresh. He's like not even a day old

1:12:51

and they get more fuel for that. So those guys are

1:12:53

Dicks. They are Dicks. And

1:12:55

he's got – Daryl said he had rope marks around his neck.

1:12:58

Yeah. So they strung him up.

1:13:01

Pretty uncool. Which

1:13:04

Daryl realizes. He

1:13:06

questions what happens. He accuses them of killing

1:13:08

him, which is pretty obvious. They end up in

1:13:10

a fight, which they're not supposed to do. We

1:13:13

learned the rules at the beginning. Not much of a fight.

1:13:15

Daryl just punched him, right? Yeah. Like I don't think

1:13:17

this guy fought back. So he got fucking

1:13:20

nailed for fighting and they all got put in ship

1:13:23

prison for it. They did. I mean,

1:13:25

I think ship prison was probably

1:13:29

what's going to happen to everybody in the end. If they want

1:13:31

fresh zombies, they just get – I'm going to get

1:13:33

a bunch of these yahoos to go and get

1:13:35

some zombies. And when they come back, I'm going

1:13:37

to put them in this cage and they're going to be the freshest

1:13:39

zombies of all. That's true. That's

1:13:42

true. That's an excuse. Because when

1:13:44

you hit somebody, that person gets

1:13:46

accused for fighting and ultimately

1:13:49

gets a death sentence. It's like

1:13:51

that's a high price to pay for getting punched in

1:13:53

the face. Well, look.

1:13:55

They told them the rules. They said no fighting,

1:13:58

no deviancy. Right if somebody

1:14:01

walked up to me in the street and just punched me in the

1:14:03

face and I fell down Do you think I'd

1:14:05

get charged with assault? Oh? Did

1:14:08

I hurt your hand? I'm sorry if

1:14:10

those are the rules those are the rules The

1:14:13

harsh goddamn rules they are yeah anyway

1:14:16

they kind of fight the doctor rounds them up

1:14:18

And they're all taken away, so they're

1:14:20

taken away, and as you said taken to ship prison

1:14:23

They we see Daryl and Juno being

1:14:26

led into a cell on the boat

1:14:28

big boat they pass by

1:14:30

the lifeboat that will be important later and Numerous

1:14:35

other sort of cells full of zombies some

1:14:38

of them are labeled do not feed and

1:14:40

others are labeled feed Interesting

1:14:43

they're not feeding some zombies and they are feeding others

1:14:46

Control group yep. They also

1:14:49

pass by some kind of laboratory

1:14:52

that hold that has a walker

1:14:54

restrained up against the wall and

1:14:58

They take them to a cell throw them

1:15:00

in a cell But the

1:15:02

guy leading them there takes Daryl vest

1:15:04

from him before sticking him in that jail

1:15:07

cell Boy that guy just wants to die

1:15:09

is You

1:15:11

don't take somebody's you know

1:15:13

significant object. They're they're bonded

1:15:15

up. You don't take that from somebody you do

1:15:18

not It's a terrible terrible idea. Yeah,

1:15:20

but he does and sticks Daryl

1:15:23

and Juno in that cell now later they're

1:15:25

out at sea and the

1:15:28

guy they Come and they take one of

1:15:30

the guys out of the cell and they feed

1:15:32

him to some of the zombies in

1:15:34

the feed Bunker is

1:15:36

it a bunker? I don't know feed group. It's your

1:15:39

feed Yeah container container

1:15:42

there you go Daryl and Juno witnessed

1:15:44

this because they can all see it happening right

1:15:46

in front of them out in outside their cell

1:15:50

later on Daryl seems

1:15:52

to be on the ground coughing up blood and

1:15:54

Juno is yelling for help They're the only two people

1:15:56

left in this cell now So

1:15:58

the guys come to take Daryl away

1:16:01

to get him out of there and

1:16:03

just as they're about to throw him in the feed

1:16:06

pit he fights back. So

1:16:08

this was all a ruse between Daryl

1:16:11

and Juno to get out of the cell, right?

1:16:14

Yeah and my question is how does

1:16:16

Daryl cough up blood? How do you

1:16:18

make that happen to yourself? Yeah

1:16:20

I don't know. It's got

1:16:22

to be pretty difficult or or maybe

1:16:24

he just cut himself somehow got some blood

1:16:26

in his mouth and then spat it out. Like that's probably

1:16:28

how you do it. Okay that works. Okay so

1:16:32

Daryl fights back he kills the two guards

1:16:36

and maybe a couple of other guards he retrieves his vest

1:16:38

from the guy so of course yeah he wasn't

1:16:41

missing it for very long. The way he flips

1:16:43

it over his body and back on to himself

1:16:45

is awesome. That's a total cool Daryl move.

1:16:48

Yeah it's also a president

1:16:51

Bartlett move. So in the West Wing

1:16:56

what Martin Sheen does that all

1:16:58

the time with his suit jackets. He flips it over his

1:17:00

head. Oh really? It's a fucking

1:17:02

boss move. It's pretty it's pretty goddamn cool.

1:17:04

Well the president and Daryl Dickson both

1:17:06

bosses. So he

1:17:08

releases a bunch of the zombies from the other

1:17:11

cells that are around this ship. He

1:17:13

gets Juno out so he

1:17:16

is trying to help Juno. He's trying to save this guy.

1:17:19

They run away and they

1:17:21

go to the lifeboat. So they're trying to lower the lifeboat

1:17:23

and get away on that boat. You

1:17:26

guys are trying to read the instructions? Yeah. He

1:17:29

thinks a joke about not being a fast reader. Okay

1:17:32

well that's a horrible thing to do for a lifeboat where you need

1:17:34

to have multiple instructions. It's like

1:17:36

okay the ship's blowing up I got to get

1:17:38

on this lifeboat. It should be a you

1:17:41

know hit this goddamn button. Which ultimately

1:17:43

it is. Because they hit the goddamn button or

1:17:45

somebody runs into the button and about just slops

1:17:47

into the end of the drink. Yep. So you

1:17:50

know I don't know what that guy was reading but

1:17:53

it definitely wasn't to launch the lifeboat instruction.

1:17:55

Well look I don't think he's a genius.

1:17:57

It looked like there were at least six or eight steps. the

1:18:00

instructions that he was looking at but

1:18:03

he couldn't figure out that button. So in

1:18:05

the chaos though Jason the

1:18:08

zombie that was restrained down in the lab

1:18:10

is released or breaks

1:18:13

out of his restraints. So

1:18:15

they're up there trying to figure out how the lifeboat

1:18:18

works. The super zombie is fast

1:18:21

and he climbs the ladder toward

1:18:24

them. And

1:18:26

I gotta say I like how this this

1:18:28

whole scene was shot because

1:18:30

the camera is up here with

1:18:32

Juno and Daryl it's kind of focusing on what

1:18:35

him trying to read those instructions right and

1:18:37

you see the variant zombie break free

1:18:39

in the distance down below almost

1:18:41

out of focus a little bit and then

1:18:43

come to the ladder like fast and up the ladder.

1:18:45

I thought that was a really cool

1:18:47

way of doing it you know because you might not have

1:18:50

noticed it if you weren't paying attention but also

1:18:52

you know that zombies there so you figure it's got

1:18:55

a break free and factor in

1:18:57

somehow so it's pretty cool that was

1:18:59

pretty cool well done. I

1:19:01

also like how this thing moves

1:19:04

how it's like fast and still kind

1:19:06

of but still kind of clumsy like a zombie

1:19:08

or like it falls up the stairs it

1:19:11

gets up again it runs into the wall like

1:19:13

it doesn't really it almost feels like it doesn't

1:19:15

know how to use its body properly you know what I

1:19:17

mean? Yeah I love dancers

1:19:20

dancers can do some funky shit with their

1:19:22

bodies. Yeah yeah it was it

1:19:24

was pretty cool so I really like. Dancers on

1:19:26

a basis is such a good idea yeah like

1:19:28

just you know if you want somebody to do weird

1:19:31

body movements and and you

1:19:33

know just hire a dancer

1:19:36

and they'll figure it out. Yeah

1:19:38

well I thought it was awesome it looked

1:19:40

really really cool and

1:19:43

it gets up there it immediately takes out

1:19:45

Juno kills him eats him eats

1:19:47

his face off but in the process

1:19:50

he's pushed backwards and hits the button that drops

1:19:52

the lifeboat. Well I guess you read the

1:19:54

instructions. I guess I guess you

1:19:56

get eaten by a zombie and pushed into the button

1:19:58

yeah that's what they said. then get on the lifeboat.

1:20:02

Well it's not okay so there's two different ways

1:20:04

to launch the lifeboat right okay so he's got a he's

1:20:06

got a hand control with the stop-start

1:20:09

button or whatever is on it so the

1:20:11

idea is to lower the lifeboat right

1:20:14

that button that they hit with the emergency

1:20:16

release because that just thing just fucking dropped

1:20:19

yeah I don't think that's the right thing to

1:20:21

do for launching a lifeboat

1:20:23

except for in an absolute emergency sure

1:20:26

where you need to get that thing into the ocean as fast

1:20:29

as humanly possible because nobody's

1:20:31

on that if anybody's on the boat when

1:20:33

you hit that button they're dead like

1:20:35

they're gonna drop 30 feet into

1:20:38

what effectively is cement because

1:20:40

water does not compress and also the

1:20:42

boat right below them and there's a boat

1:20:44

so yeah you're gonna you're gonna have some

1:20:47

knees go through jaw lines and

1:20:49

stuff it's gonna be you're gonna have teeth everywhere it's gonna

1:20:51

be nasty not good so yeah

1:20:53

I don't think that was the ideal button to hit but ultimately

1:20:56

it did the job it did the job so

1:20:58

Juno was dead the super

1:21:01

zombie jumps up and immediately goes after

1:21:03

Daryl of course who's still up there and he

1:21:06

grabs like a fire extinguisher type thing or

1:21:08

an oxygen tank or something like that and he hits it in

1:21:10

the face which determines

1:21:13

it for a second but it gets

1:21:15

up and it charges at him and in this this

1:21:18

time instead of fighting back he just

1:21:20

jumps overboard towards the boat and

1:21:23

the lab explodes behind him

1:21:26

yeah so we have a John McClain moment there it's just

1:21:28

absolutely amazing yeah it's very jumps off the

1:21:30

ledge and you have massive explosion

1:21:33

why did the boat explode though they

1:21:36

never told us no okay because there's the

1:21:38

various pandemonium and chaos things

1:21:40

going on in the background which led

1:21:42

to an explosion which led to ultimately

1:21:44

an explosion because you know when in doubt

1:21:47

explode okay cool and

1:21:50

that's it so we now know

1:21:52

how Daryl what he was doing how

1:21:54

he got on the boat why he was there and how he

1:21:57

got off the boat and ruined everything for the boat yeah

1:22:00

And then I don't know what the boat flip over at this

1:22:02

time, or did it flip

1:22:04

over later? Because, you

1:22:06

know, he is, you

1:22:08

know, he's got to go around into

1:22:11

the Mediterranean from the, from as far as

1:22:13

I know, they're not in the Mediterranean Sea at this point.

1:22:15

Like they're, they're up near, you

1:22:17

know, in the English Channel. Nah, we

1:22:19

have no, we have no idea where they are. Oh, except

1:22:22

for they, they, you'd think they'd be heading

1:22:24

for that, heading for that port,

1:22:26

La Havre, it's called, right? Yeah,

1:22:28

which is up there. True. True, true, true. So, the girl

1:22:31

goes all the way around past Brouckard

1:22:33

de Baralta in the, in the Mediterranean

1:22:35

Sea and lands in the south of France. Like

1:22:38

he doesn't go to Casablanca. He doesn't

1:22:40

go to Egypt. He doesn't end

1:22:43

up in Libya or

1:22:45

even Greece. Greece would have been okay, I

1:22:47

assume. Would have been a cool place to

1:22:49

hang out. Uh, but no,

1:22:51

he, uh, he didn't go to Sicily. Sicily

1:22:53

would have been perfect. It's an island. Yeah. Right?

1:22:56

I think that would have been awesome. They have,

1:22:59

uh, they have figs, you know, you can live

1:23:01

on figs and fish and, uh, what do

1:23:03

you call those things? Olives? Oh yeah.

1:23:05

Sounds delightful. I've never been to Sicily. I

1:23:07

assume they have all these things. Sure. Um,

1:23:10

so, but no, he ends up in the south of France.

1:23:13

Well, he does. Um, you're right. We don't know what happens

1:23:15

after he jumps off the exploding boat, all

1:23:17

other than there's a lifeboat and we see him tied

1:23:20

to it upside down as he washes ashore

1:23:22

in France. There's other adventures

1:23:24

that he's been on is, I guess what I'm saying is

1:23:27

that, uh, you know, yada, yada,

1:23:29

yawing from getting off this, jumping

1:23:31

off this boat until ending up in the south of

1:23:33

France tied to the back of a fucking lifeboat.

1:23:36

There's some shit that happened. Right.

1:23:39

I mean, yeah, maybe I, I, I

1:23:42

hear you, but like, I'm not sure you accidentally,

1:23:44

uh, float into the Mediterranean.

1:23:47

I'm not sure how that works, but I'm pretty sure that

1:23:49

doesn't work. I mean, maybe this boat was down

1:23:51

there already. Like we don't know for sure

1:23:53

where the main, the big boat was. Like

1:23:55

maybe it was down there. Maybe they have another port. Maybe

1:23:58

it was on a separate mission.

1:24:00

and

1:24:01

he jumped off and they were already in the Mediterranean

1:24:04

near the coast of France. I

1:24:06

don't know down there. That's

1:24:09

all we can assume at this point but we

1:24:11

did learn a lot about how

1:24:13

he got there and that's

1:24:15

it that's the whole episode. So for

1:24:19

a show that feels

1:24:21

like it doesn't

1:24:24

show us that much in each individual

1:24:26

episodes but kind of moves

1:24:29

the grander story along really quick,

1:24:32

I thought this one was jam-packed with

1:24:34

stuff. Yeah

1:24:37

we got some movement here. We got the final

1:24:40

episode. We got backstory

1:24:42

and a boss zombie

1:24:46

and super soldier injection serum

1:24:48

and betrayal, capture, escape. We had everything.

1:24:55

This is a good pre-final

1:24:58

episode of the season. Yeah we had so much and

1:25:02

I have to say that I really

1:25:04

loved this one. I thought this was by a

1:25:07

pretty wide margin the best episode

1:25:10

of the Daryl show that we've had so far.

1:25:14

So much was revealed to the audience. Daryl,

1:25:17

how he got to France more or less, we

1:25:20

learned what Janae is ultimately trying to do.

1:25:23

We got a lot of information about that. We

1:25:25

have finally properly been introduced

1:25:27

to these super variant zombies which

1:25:32

I thought was amazing and they're making

1:25:34

them. So they're not just general

1:25:36

evolution of you know

1:25:39

friggin what do

1:25:41

you call it the acid blood zombies. They're

1:25:44

trying to make these fuckers. They

1:25:47

are. That's crazy. It is crazy. I

1:25:49

think that's an amazing sort

1:25:51

of piece of information though. As far as we

1:25:53

knew before this, the French were

1:25:56

doing experiments to

1:25:59

try and like cure them or prevent

1:26:01

them from becoming zombies, right? And they ended up

1:26:04

turning them into high power

1:26:06

super zombies. That was early

1:26:09

on. We've gone from that, which

1:26:11

let's call an accident, to the

1:26:14

current people living in France doing

1:26:17

it on purpose and trying to make these, these

1:26:20

super zombies, for what purpose? Like,

1:26:23

I don't know, as weapons? Like, I

1:26:25

think that's a side effect. I think that they are trying

1:26:27

to cure zombieism, but they've made them

1:26:30

into super soldiers instead. And, you

1:26:32

know, if you're going to accidentally make a super soldier, which,

1:26:35

you know, let's face it, happens to most superheroes.

1:26:37

Mm hmm. It's very few of them are on

1:26:40

purpose. Yeah. So,

1:26:42

you know, you accidentally make something that can be

1:26:45

useful in a cage match, so, you

1:26:47

know, people get bored of badminton, so they need to have

1:26:50

super soldier zombie fights with

1:26:52

regular, you know. Oh, I see. So you're

1:26:55

saying that they're not really making more than they need to,

1:26:57

but they've realized that they can make these

1:26:59

things for specific

1:27:01

purposes, like putting people in a fighting pit

1:27:04

or, I don't know,

1:27:06

transporting them on a boat across the ocean. Not

1:27:08

sure why he was there, but. Well,

1:27:10

that's, that's the biggest question I have, because,

1:27:13

and I mentioned it before, it's like, why to go to the Americas

1:27:15

to get, you know, to get a

1:27:18

test zombies for whatever purposes.

1:27:20

I mean, you could go to Norway, you could go to England,

1:27:23

you could go down to Africa, there's all kinds of places

1:27:25

where you can get zombies. You don't need to go all

1:27:27

the way to America. You don't have to go anywhere. I mean, there's plenty

1:27:30

of zombies in your own backyard. Yeah,

1:27:32

they're all, they tested all those. They're

1:27:34

all, you know, the, the acid

1:27:37

zombie variant kind of got away from them.

1:27:39

They're like, yeah, okay, fine. So

1:27:41

we can't get those anymore. But

1:27:43

they have a lot of people, like if they're going to lock

1:27:45

down Paris, like shut off all the exits of Paris

1:27:48

so that we can capture this one kid. No problem. They've

1:27:51

got thousands of people, right? So

1:27:53

those thousands of people could be thousands of

1:27:55

test subjects if, you

1:27:57

know, you play your cards, right? the

1:28:00

thing about human beings they

1:28:02

tend to make more human beings so you could probably

1:28:04

do that too right like to start a breeding program

1:28:07

where you're gonna get more test subjects I mean

1:28:09

that's gonna take a little while but in a pinch I suppose

1:28:11

you could be doing that yeah yeah you

1:28:13

do what they did in Star Wars and then give them

1:28:15

growth hormone so that they grow up in

1:28:17

five years instead of 20 why not

1:28:19

if you can make super zombies maybe you can do that too

1:28:22

and cloning don't forget about cloning

1:28:24

they can do that too of course of

1:28:26

course it's so many options so many options

1:28:29

do you think that somebody out there is clone to

1:28:31

human yet I mean they've cloned sheep and cats

1:28:33

and things but do you think anybody's cloned a human

1:28:37

in real life I mean yeah probably not

1:28:39

no I mean the technology

1:28:41

exists right I think we could now can't

1:28:44

we or can we not assholes out there that

1:28:46

could do stuff that's not

1:28:48

legal right just to try it well yeah

1:28:50

sure I don't know if we've gone to the technology

1:28:53

where we can clone humans but I don't know I wonder

1:28:55

sometimes whether or not there's a clone kicking

1:28:57

around somewhere all like a pile

1:28:59

of goo and stuff that I mean it probably doesn't

1:29:01

go well yeah takes one to no

1:29:04

one Jason maybe you're thinking about this because you're a clone

1:29:06

maybe if yeah they've

1:29:10

got to do better next time but I'm

1:29:12

thinking of clones you know it's like okay we cloned this guy

1:29:15

but the clone doesn't have any bones

1:29:17

so that's a problem

1:29:19

yeah not gonna work out so well well

1:29:23

listen I loved this

1:29:25

episode all that stuff we've

1:29:27

mentioned was amazing and I thought the Carol

1:29:29

thing was fantastic such

1:29:32

a great addition so yeah

1:29:34

good good job Daryl Dixon this was the best

1:29:37

episode so far and like if the season

1:29:39

finale next week is

1:29:41

this good or better it's gonna be a strong finale

1:29:44

and this show I think on this

1:29:46

episode alone almost

1:29:49

is we'll

1:29:52

we'll put it a notch above Dead

1:29:54

City for me and I liked Dead City

1:29:57

more than I thought I would you know but if

1:29:59

we're gonna finish this strong with Daryl Dixon like this

1:30:01

is the best thing the Walking Dead is done in a while I

1:30:04

think. You know I never

1:30:06

had to yeah speaking of Dead City in the Croat

1:30:08

we didn't weren't talking about the Croat but Croatia

1:30:11

that's when the necktie was invented within

1:30:14

Croatia okay

1:30:16

good to know good

1:30:18

to learn hey that is weird what's

1:30:21

not that weird like it had to be invented somewhere somebody

1:30:23

had to invent it for some reason so yeah

1:30:26

I thought that was odd yeah anyway it reminded

1:30:29

me that like I wonder why the Croat didn't wear a necktie

1:30:31

I think that would have been a nice touch yeah all right

1:30:33

well maybe season two one other

1:30:35

thing I want to mention is that both

1:30:38

variant zombies that we saw the one on the boat

1:30:41

and the one right at the end that attacks Daryl

1:30:44

in the fighting pit they both have black

1:30:47

eyes okay yeah they focused

1:30:49

on the faces of these things purposefully

1:30:52

to tell us hey audience they've got

1:30:54

black eyes keep that in mind I'm pretty

1:30:57

sure that is how the show is going to delineate

1:30:59

between normal walkers and super walkers oh

1:31:02

there you go normal walker eyes not

1:31:04

black

1:31:05

super walkers black eyes

1:31:07

okay that's uh that's good because if they

1:31:09

went the other way which is a

1:31:11

kind of a cracked pupil like

1:31:13

an odd not non-circular pupil

1:31:15

of some kind mm-hmm that would have been a little

1:31:18

much I agree but black

1:31:20

fine

1:31:21

black yeah

1:31:22

all right so great episode

1:31:25

I really look forward to next

1:31:27

week and I even liked the structure

1:31:29

of this how we had the different storylines the

1:31:31

flashback I think they

1:31:33

just did a good job altogether you were never confused

1:31:35

about what you were watching like if we're

1:31:38

in time you were and just everything about this

1:31:40

one was really great well this is how you how

1:31:43

you structure an a-plot and a B plot and

1:31:45

a C plot yeah and they all come together in

1:31:47

the end right like even though you know maybe

1:31:49

the backstory didn't really

1:31:51

come together as far as the

1:31:53

other two storylines but the a-plot and the B

1:31:55

the B plot they really did come

1:31:58

together for the end of the episode which

1:32:00

was solid and then we had a

1:32:03

backstory intermix to give us information

1:32:05

that we all wanted frankly.

1:32:08

But then it also had a super zombie

1:32:11

which tied into the end of the

1:32:13

story for the other two plots. So actually

1:32:15

in fact we did have all three plots tie

1:32:17

in together. And that's what I was talking about

1:32:19

earlier on vaguely when I said that

1:32:22

Darryl's in this fighting pit having to fight this super

1:32:24

zombie. It's not the first time he's seen one. He

1:32:27

knows what to expect a little bit maybe

1:32:30

because of the experience on the boat. So it puts

1:32:32

him in the perfect

1:32:34

position if you can

1:32:36

call it that to defend himself against

1:32:38

this thing. It's very

1:32:41

much like when our

1:32:44

crew was in the train car at

1:32:47

Terminus. Rick gets thrown

1:32:49

into a train car and the first thing he says is, they

1:32:51

don't know who they're fucking with. It's like Jesus,

1:32:56

you're in a bad spot here Rick but

1:32:58

you seem awfully confident. And so

1:33:00

I'm thinking Darryl might have the same thoughts.

1:33:02

Like these guys are so screwed. That's

1:33:06

right. I'm not locked in here with that super

1:33:08

zombie. It's locked in here with me. That

1:33:12

line in The Watchmen is

1:33:14

probably the best line in a

1:33:16

movie that has ever come out of Hollywood.

1:33:19

So good. It is absolutely

1:33:21

genius. I fucking

1:33:24

love that. Yeah, me too. Me too. It's

1:33:26

really good. But it applies here too I think. I think it

1:33:28

does, yeah. All right, cool. That

1:33:31

is it for this episode everyone. We would love to

1:33:33

hear what you think. And

1:33:36

I know the episode's a little late, or the podcast

1:33:38

is a little late this week, but please still

1:33:40

take the time to write and call in. We'd love to hear from

1:33:42

you. Before we wrap things

1:33:44

up for the evening here, Jason, I

1:33:47

want to remind everyone that

1:33:49

you can help support the show by becoming a patron

1:33:51

at patreon.com slash thetalkingdead.

1:33:54

And in fact, this week we had a new person

1:33:57

join the Talking Dead Patreon page.

1:34:00

by the name of Stephanie M. So thank

1:34:02

you, Stephanie M, for becoming

1:34:04

a patron. We also had

1:34:07

somebody send a contribution

1:34:09

in via PayPal, which is actually really

1:34:11

friendly and really awesome. That was Julie

1:34:13

C. And Julie included a message. She

1:34:15

said, listen to you every week. Thanks for always

1:34:18

being there with your great podcasts. You've

1:34:20

really enhanced the whole Walking Dead universe watching

1:34:22

experience. Well, thanks. That's nice, Julie.

1:34:25

Yes. And thank you.

1:34:28

So PayPal, you can go, you can

1:34:30

hit by going to talkingdeadpodcast.com

1:34:33

slash PayPal. And

1:34:35

as I said, Patreon is at patreon.com

1:34:37

slash the talking dead. All

1:34:40

right. That is going to wrap

1:34:42

things up for this episode of the

1:34:44

podcast. I can't wait for

1:34:47

next week's Daryl Dixon show

1:34:49

season finale, episode number six. We'll be

1:34:51

back next week, hopefully

1:34:53

not two days late with our recap and discussion

1:34:56

of that. In the

1:34:58

meantime, everyone stay cool.

1:35:01

And if you want to get in touch with us, you

1:35:03

can do that by going to talkingdeadpodcast.com

1:35:06

and clicking on send voicemail, record

1:35:08

a message. It will be sent right into me, which is the

1:35:11

best way to do it. And

1:35:13

you can also send email to talkingdeadpodcast

1:35:16

at gmail.com. Okay.

1:35:20

Thanks again for tuning in. We'll see you

1:35:22

in a few days when we talk about episode six. And

1:35:25

until then, my name is Chris. And my name

1:35:27

is Jason. Thanks for listening. Bye.
