Really introspective and bleak but somehow carries a thread of hope the whole way through. I loved the protagonist: he’s down to earth and sardonic but he becomes completely unhinged when it comes to the safety of his dog, which is just so relatable. I loved the contrast between the slow but steady even-toned narration with the sudden, intense, sometimes downright gory scenes. Very interesting worldbuilding as well. We love a supernatural mass psychosis. Binged the whole thing in two days and I’ll probably listen to it again as soon as I’ve finished chewing on it!

Yes, it's narrated. But it's also soundscaped, with some subtle—and some not-so-subtle—sound effects to enhance the experience. Caution: The narrator's voice is extremely soothing. I'm not saying you'll fall asleep listening if you're stoned, but it can happen.
