I think this was one of the most important episodes of this season of The Uncertain Hour because it pulls back the curtain on WHY companies subcontract - or at least some of the reasons they might do so to avoid liability. When I heard about the subcontractors going out of business and then re-opening under a new business name, I thought, of course they do ... it's the American way, right? Capitalism at its finest, and who cares about the fair way to treat workers. Super fascinating - one of those episodes where I ran right to my husband and was like, "OhMyGoshIJustListenedToThisPodcast and did you know ......." which is not typically a good opening to actually talk about what I learned because I've done it too many times 🤣
