Step aside destination weddings and say “aloha” to destination store openings! That’s right, The Walmart and Sam’s Club Radio crew headed waayy out of town for the Second Best Day Ever of the Grand Re-Opening event for Store 2473 in Hilo, Hawaii! And wow, do the associates and customers in Hilo (pronounced he-low), know how to celebrate. Kirby got the party started with overnight associate Bridget, who said that after 26 years at the store, her team is her “ohana,” or family – and not just because her husband has worked alongside her for many of those years! Later, Bo tested associate Mahalo’s Hawaiian knowledge with an island-themed round of Yes or No Way Bo. Then, Chris met up with Navy veteran and Tom Brady fan, Garnett, who shared that after six years at the Hilo store, the aloha energy is as strong as ever. Afterward, special guests Joe and Amanda, from Children’s Miracle Network and the Kapiolani Medical Center, dropped by to shoutout the associates’ record-breaking support of the Kapiolani Medical Center and their heart for the big island’s “keiki” (Hawaiian for kids). Anything else? Bo and Chris enjoyed a [coco]nutty round of Master Dad Joke Theater, and digital team lead Rosie stole the mic – and the show – with her encouraging Before You Go. Kirby’s officially her number one fan.
