The nature of the issues that Paul had to address were mostly Jewish and reflects the Messianic speculations that were present among the Jews of the Second Temple period. Here, Paul wants the believers to understand that the tribulations they are facing do not point to the end of the world. He revisits some of the same issues found in his first epistle. Paul tells the believers once again to work for a living and not to be busybodies. Finally, he reassures the believers that someday good will prevail and God will make right all injustices and wrongs.
