On this episode of The Weekend Take, we sit down with Drew Mylrea (www.drewmylrea.com), the Director of the new romantic comedy "Spy Intervention" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DBeCeZd59s), in theaters and available on iTunes and other Digital platforms now.
We discuss Drew's journey in the film industry from making films with his mother's VHS camera at the tender age of 10 to searching for true drama making films in high school to his transition to UCLA Theater Directing program to a chance encounter in an airport with the Producer who would put him on the path to creating "Spy Intervention" and all the stops in between.
We will also discuss the process of crafting a film made to parody and poke fun at classic tropes of the Spy Action Film Genre, from clearly fabricated CGI elements and set pieces, to using creative means of shifting perspective in the film, all while using Upstate New York as it's backdrop and how it fostered and insulated a type of "summer camp" mentality among the cast and crew.
