How often do we get to see exactly where our food comes, right at the source? One of the most important things we can do to ensure we are getting the best quality, most ethically sourced and produced food is to form relationships with the people who we buy our food from. This is the best way to know who you can and can’t trust, and is also how you can play an active role in influencing how your food is produced, as well as to support local and small scale ethical businesses who are passionate about what they do, about food, health and doing the right thing to bring you and your families healthy, nutrient dense food.

This is exactly what Tathra Place Free Range is making possible for us by welcoming and encouraging people to come and stay at their farm, which I’ve had the absolute pleasure of experiencing, spending time with their family, seeing it all in action and witnessing what a beautiful life the animals have. Plus, the quality and taste of the produce speaks for itself.

Their regenerative farming system is based on the methods of well-known farmer, Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms in Virginia, USA. Truly pasture raised and fed animals, soil and land regeneration, and emulating nature. In Luke’s words he humours, “We have a joke in our family where we say, my brother found God and has since become a pastor…. and I found Joel Salatin and became a farmer!”

In this episode we discuss:

  • Forming relationships with your local farmer
  • The other side of “Organic” when it comes to meat
  • A virtual tour of Tathra Place Free Range farm
  • Luke’s plans for a Cow Funding community incentive
  • Lots more!
