In the first-ever episode of the Wine & Dine Podcast, host Ja Cangiano and guest Will Smalley talk all things stand-up comedy, the LGBTQ+ community, gay weddings, elderly care, offensive speedos, and New England furniture store brand commercial all while sipping on some wine and filling their mouths with Italian (meat) balls.

I am pleased to introduce my first guest on the podcast. He is an established queer comedian on the Boston comedy scene. He’s the host of a dueling comedy show with fellow comedian Andrew Mayer  “The Fringe’s” which takes place @ The Haven restaurant and bar every third Wednesday of the month and host of the Pro wrestling podcast “Parts Unknown”. When he’s not making people laugh, He is working with the elderly communities. In his words:

“I’ve now find myself in the field of providing joy in both my day job and my comedy career. I’m in the best days of my working life.”

Wine Review

  • It’s wine review time. We begin this podcast journey with no sponsors. Our goal is to change that at some point, but for now, we will be drinking Wine & Dine Unsponsored Vintage 2023. To find out our mystery wine of the week, head over to either our tik tok or Instagram page for a link to buy your very own bottle of our mystery wine.
  • I got into wine during the pandemic when I was living at home and had nothing better to do. I learned about wine from different regions, how to store wine, and how to decanter and serve it. My goal is to provide the best wine experience at affordable prices.
  • Some Wine tips:
    • Red wine should generally be served at 59 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 degrees Celsius. This can be achieved with a wine fridge or by opening the bottle fifteen minutes prior to serving and placing it in the fridge.
    • For my White wines drinker should generally be served at 50 degrees Fahrenheit or 10 degrees Celsius.
    • Why should you decant your wine? Generally bolder, full-body red wines can benefit from decanting. It helps bring out the flavors and brings “air” into the wine.
  • Mystery Unsponsored Wine of the Day:
    • 2019 Vintage
    • Red wine from Salice Salentino, Italy
    • Out of 3620 reviews, it has a 3.9/5
    • Top 15 wines of Summer ranked #9
    • And is on average  $12.99 a bottle
