Where do horror writers find their inspiration? Author Matthew Brockmeyer had a unique blend of reading horror as a child, schooling in English Literature, and a desire to write his own stories because every story he wrote (writes), he learns something about himself and what he thinks of the world around him.

In Part 1 of this podcast, Matthew and I talk about King's quote and how getting published isn't a Cinderella story where you suddenly make a seven-figure salary. Publishing takes a lot of hard work and a bit of luck. In publishing his novel Kind Nepenthe, Matthew had faced rejection like all authors do - perhaps we should continue to take to heart that few are successful the first time they try.
