Hugh Pixler is a retired civil rights and labor attorney. Throughout his career he provided legal advice to many poor Coloradans who might not have found help anywhere else. While that work was satisfying in itself, it is in retirement that Hugh has found what satisfies his heart.
Hugh has published two Westerns, “Fourth Gun” and “Revenge Is Never Enough” set in Boulder, Colorado immediately after the US Civil War. (Available on Amazon.) He is currently working on the final volume of the trilogy. [Note: we will update these show notes when the new book is available.]
Hugh works out several times a week. For years Hugh has run races and bicycled. After he had a major accident with multiple broken bones, his doctors were pessimistic. Hugh says he has recovered not merely due to his commitment to rehab but due to the timely intercession of his niece Rebekah Griffith, an Emergency Department Physical Therapist. Hugh is training now for Iron Horse Bicycle Classic in Durango in May.
Hugh’s spiritual journey started as a United Methodist preacher’s kid; he now leads weekly meditation in the Yellow Hat Tibetan Buddhist tradition at the Shambhala Tibetan Buddhist Center, 1345 Spruce Street in Boulder. He welcomes experienced meditators to join him, 7:30-8:30 am. Come by 7:15 am to be admitted.
