We're gonna have a little break in the
2:02
app for a couple weeks for the holidays
2:05
for the team to have
2:07
some time off, but then we're coming back
2:09
strong Friday, December 29th, 2023,
2:13
right at the end of the year for Ant-Man,
2:15
New Year, New Ant. It's a
2:17
one-shot story written by Jerry Duggan and it
2:19
is a lot of fun. There's a party
2:22
at Avengers Mansion. Things
2:24
go awry, Ironheart and
2:27
her armor play a big part in
2:29
this story. There's a giant baby. There's
2:32
a whole lot. Yeah, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. It's
2:34
very fun, very silly and a great way-
2:36
Wait, we talking Stay Plus Marshmallow Man giant?
2:39
I mean if you're Ant-sized, if
2:42
you're Ant-Man-sized, perspective is everything. It's
2:45
a great way to kick off your fitness journey as you get
2:47
into the New Year. I had a lot of fun with that
2:49
one. Of course, you can
2:51
search for Marvel Move or ZRX
2:54
to download and start your seven-day
2:56
free trial on whatever app store
2:58
you use. You can also go
3:00
to ZRX.app.app.com for more information and
3:02
we were also App of the
3:04
Day recently across the world on
3:06
iOS, so woo-hoo to us. Woo-woo.
3:09
All right, so as we keep
3:11
moving into the New Year, we've
3:14
got some incredible announcements and
3:16
I don't want to ignore January,
3:18
although that is going to be your time to
3:21
remember that you're now going to be writing 2024 instead of 2023. February
3:27
is coming. There's a lot of cool
3:29
things are coming out in February. There's
3:32
going to be Black
3:34
History Month covers. We've got Marvel's
3:36
Voices Legends coming out, but for
3:39
those who have been digging
3:43
deep into the Ultimate
3:45
Universe, we have got
3:47
Ultimate Storm and Ultimate Killmonger
3:50
making their electrifying debut in
3:52
the one, the only, Ultimate
3:55
Black Panther. I know
3:57
folks have been really excited about this since it's
3:59
announced. is going to be an Ultimate all
4:02
new to Challa, Black Panther. And
4:04
just to see what this world is going to
4:06
be, right? Because Wakanda is more than just the
4:09
Black Panther. You've got an entire cast of characters
4:11
who are going to be shaping out this world
4:13
of Wakanda, including, as I just said, an Ultimate
4:16
Storm and an Ultimate Killmonger. You
4:18
can check out Ultimate Universe's Storm
4:20
and Killmonger on April's Ultimate Black
4:22
Panther number three cover. And make
4:24
sure you check out Peach Momoko's
4:26
character design sheets over on
4:28
marvel.com. I
4:30
love this because right off the bat, Ultimate
4:34
Black Panther number one, the
4:36
couple debuts to defend their
4:38
people as these heroic
4:41
freedom fighters throughout the continent of
4:43
Africa. But when Moon Knight, yeah,
4:45
I said Moon Knight, army launches
4:48
a brutal invasion, they'll have to
4:50
convince the powerful nation of Wakanda
4:52
to finally step out of the
4:54
shadows. So make sure you
4:56
check out the covers and designs now. And
4:58
pre-order, go do it, put
5:00
it on your poll list, Ultimate Black Panther
5:02
number one at your local comic shop
5:05
today. Or for those digi people,
5:07
just like go press that Subscribe button. We've
5:10
got some spidey news this
5:12
week because writer J.M. De
5:14
Mateus is going to reveal
5:16
the Osborn family's darkest secret
5:18
in Spider-Man Shadow of the
5:20
Green Goblin. This is coming
5:22
in April. Alongside De Mateus
5:24
is artist Michael Santamaria as
5:26
they continue to tell the
5:28
macabre mystery of Proto Goblin
5:30
in a new limited series.
5:33
This one is really interesting. It
5:35
revisits the now classic Spider-Man minus
5:38
one. Minus one was a whole series
5:40
of issues we did in 1997, telling
5:43
sort of old school
5:45
throwback, flashback issues. And Spider-Man
5:47
minus one was cool one. They're
5:49
going to revisit this, tie up
5:51
a plot thread that's been dangling
5:53
since that issue in 1997, involving
5:56
the tragic truth behind Norman
5:59
Osborn's research. assistant Nels
6:01
Van Adder the first test
6:03
subject for the goblin formula
6:05
which transformed him into proto
6:07
goblin so this is a
6:10
really neat one getting deep into those nooks
6:12
and crannies of spider-man lore you
6:14
want to head over to marvel.com you can check out
6:16
Paulo Saccato's new cover and get a
6:18
little bit of a tease and a hint
6:20
what's to come in spider-man shadow of the
6:22
green goblin coming in April. In
6:24
other comics news we have an exclusive
6:27
announcement following the return of carnage in
6:29
carnage number one and here to tell
6:31
us all about it is the writer
6:33
Tarn Gronvek. You were on this
6:36
week of Marvel earlier in
6:38
the season but now you're back and
6:40
you have news to share with
6:43
us exclusively here on this week
6:45
in Marvel tell me tell me tell me I want
6:47
all the juicy details. Okay
6:50
the thing is we are doing
6:52
we're doing a crossover with carnage
6:54
and venom it begins
6:56
with Carnage 5 and Venom
6:58
31 and it sort
7:01
of it made sense to us to to sort
7:04
of intertwine the two stories given that
7:06
they have Venom and Carnage
7:08
in the same city at the same time
7:11
like I'm writing Venomville
7:14
Al and Al has a
7:16
very specific idea we have
7:18
a very specific direction of where we're going
7:21
but it made no sense when carnage
7:24
figured out that he wanted to be a
7:26
god and he is sort
7:28
of trying to figure out what godliness
7:31
entails and if they're both
7:33
in the same city at the same time
7:35
we had to make
7:37
sure their paths crossed so
7:40
that is what we're doing.
7:43
Carnage desperately wants to to
7:46
get Eddie Brock and
7:48
he can't get to Eddie because Eddie
7:50
is nowhere to be found on earth
7:52
in this time and with the knowledge
7:55
that Venom is currently bonded to Dylan
7:58
they cleared his sort
8:00
of logic here is that if you
8:03
just torture the boy, the father will
8:05
come. So
8:07
that is sort of our setup for the
8:10
crossover. And it is the first time
8:12
we'll see Dylan and
8:15
Carnage sort of
8:17
both fight and be in the same room
8:19
together. And it is sort of that there
8:22
is some family drama going on here, because
8:24
technically, they're both the child of Eddie
8:26
or Venom in a sort of strange way.
8:28
So they're sort of kind of brothers, if
8:30
you want to look at it that way.
8:34
And it is it's so
8:36
natural to bring them together. It
8:39
brings up especially for Dylan, all
8:42
the secrets that Venom has
8:44
kept from him, because you sort of you assume
8:46
that if you bond
8:49
with someone, or a
8:51
symbiote, you will have access to everything they've done
8:53
and everything like you both will have access to
8:55
their mind. But
8:57
it's we sort of figure out that
9:00
Venom has kept things naturally from from
9:02
Dylan. Because,
9:04
I mean, Venom was the
9:06
one who made, like
9:09
Eddie do horrible things.
9:12
Dylan's mother do horrible things, like
9:14
we've gotten to the point
9:16
where if Dylan sees the full extent
9:18
of what Venom has done in this
9:20
world, might
9:22
not be great. And Carnage
9:25
being and clearest maybe especially
9:27
being the like,
9:31
just sadist as he is, he
9:33
doesn't just want to kill Dylan,
9:35
he wants Dylan to know everything.
9:38
He wants Dylan to be
9:40
aware of everything that Venom has done.
9:42
And it turns
9:45
into a sort of spectacular thing. And
9:48
then it sort of it
9:50
takes a turn. And I'm not going to say what
9:52
kind of turn but it goes, it doesn't go the
9:54
way you think it will. Okay, so we're gonna
9:56
keep the spoilers. But one thing I gotta say,
9:58
it seems like Whenever there's
10:01
one symbiote and
10:03
another symbiote get together we start dragging
10:05
and you're kind of
10:07
teasing it We'd start dragging the
10:09
family into this it becomes family
10:12
drama, you know What
10:15
can you tell us about the level of
10:17
drama on top of that and you know,
10:19
are we gonna see any other symbiotes? Well,
10:23
I don't want to spoil anything. I'm trying to be I don't
10:25
know. We are going to
10:27
see Cletus Kasady as his most horribly
10:30
cleedisy and we're gonna see sort of
10:32
the God emerging I love the fact
10:34
that we now have a word which
10:36
is Cletusy Cletusy. I think
10:39
there's a very sort of distinct
10:41
different between carnage who is the
10:43
puppy? Like it's just a sweet
10:45
little murderous puppy and You're
10:49
making a face or you do not agree No,
10:51
I just think it's I just thinking
10:53
of carnage as a sweet little murderous
10:55
puppy is like it's almost like saying
10:59
It's a mag-wai that you got wet that
11:01
you said and got wet after midnight and
11:03
that's carnage Yeah, carnage is a gremlin is
11:05
a sweet little murderous puppy. We is though
11:07
like it's just a Cletus
11:11
however is just
11:13
a murderous evil human being and it is a
11:15
sort of I think the two
11:17
of them together Like there's nothing like it
11:20
and being able to sort of push the
11:22
boundaries Because there
11:24
is a sort of there's a we
11:26
can't do all we I suppose we can we keep
11:29
Decapitating people and doing horrible things in
11:31
this book But yeah, when we bring
11:33
in the symbiotes the tone of the
11:35
fighting changes a little bit And
11:38
at this point the venom is sort
11:40
of fighting for his
11:42
own history in many ways he's sort
11:44
of trying to it's defending not only
11:46
Dylan but sort of himself as the
11:50
symbiotes and All
11:52
the things that he has made people do And
11:55
it is it is the beginning
11:58
of a big I
12:01
think I can say that. So
12:03
what I love about this is as we're
12:05
putting together this incredible book where you're giving
12:07
these different perspectives, we've got a
12:10
new look for carnage, we've
12:12
got variant covers, you are
12:14
working with some absolutely incredible
12:17
artists, both the artists that are
12:20
on dealing with carnage and
12:22
venom and some other folks coming
12:24
in. So talk to me about
12:26
how it's been working with these
12:28
creators. Well, working
12:30
with Perret on carnage,
12:34
I knew it would be something special
12:36
the moment I saw the second page
12:39
because he just gets it. He gets
12:41
me, he gets all my stupid jokes,
12:43
he delivers every moment and then more.
12:47
And you can kind of see, especially in
12:49
this issue, how we just sort of, he
12:51
lets loose. And it's a very interesting thing
12:53
because we're doing the same story
12:55
with two different point of views in Venom 31
12:57
and Carnage 5. And
13:01
in Venom 31, we have Ken
13:03
Lashley on art. And Ken
13:05
is a sort of old school genius. The
13:10
pages coming in are just like, it
13:12
just feels like they're from a different time
13:14
and they're so beautiful.
13:16
Like this is, like
13:19
the art is just stunning. And
13:21
he sort of sneaks up, he sends sort
13:23
of a picture of his desk and you
13:25
could see like half a page sticking out
13:27
and it's the most beautiful thing you've ever
13:30
seen. So I
13:32
think being able to do this with the two
13:34
of them, I know the
13:36
result is just going to be stunning. And
13:39
I'm so excited because we
13:42
talk with the editors and they
13:45
sort of just let us do exactly what we
13:47
wanted. And we haven't, like
13:50
there's no holding back anywhere.
13:53
So it sort of, it feels like something
13:55
truly special, at least to me. So
13:58
I couldn't be more excited. about this.
14:00
It looked when you
14:02
came on the pod to talk
14:05
about this new carnage series you
14:07
also mentioned the one and the
14:09
only Flash Thompson aka Antivinum and
14:12
you know for those who have read issue
14:14
one if you not go fix that in
14:17
your life it's out now issue
14:19
two comes out at the end of the month but
14:21
Antivinum you know is playing a
14:24
role here from literally
14:26
almost the first moments of
14:30
the story you know how
14:34
does he fit into the
14:36
crossover though? Well I'm
14:40
trying to spoil anything more here but
14:42
the thing is Flash is sort of
14:44
our savior in the book
14:46
and I think he's sort of
14:48
working both to save himself to
14:50
figure out who he is but
14:53
also just save and
14:55
when he saves carnage too but
14:58
I don't want to spoil exactly what
15:00
we're doing but Flash plays very much
15:02
plays a part not
15:05
in the Dylan, Khalidis,
15:07
carnage conflict but certainly in
15:10
the who is carnage
15:12
and who is Khalidis sort
15:14
of thing that we're
15:16
doing. I adore
15:18
that the person who is so good
15:21
with words is like I
15:23
do not I am NOT ruining
15:25
this for the readers and
15:28
you know it's funny because both you
15:30
and Al
15:33
between you and Al Ewing there's just been
15:35
a lot going on with Venom you
15:38
know that story
15:40
doesn't just stop right? The
15:42
story continues to go it continues to evolve and
15:44
I'm sure y'all had to work together
15:46
a little bit to make sure both the
15:48
storylines of Venom and Carnage also
15:51
keep their their parallel past moving
15:53
forward. How does this crossover a
15:55
bit further that story and you
15:58
know how much is involved? what's going on
16:00
over there? Oh I would say
16:03
very much like we've gotten to the point where
16:05
Dylan who is 16 17
16:08
something like that he's a young boy living
16:10
alone he's been left alone his father
16:13
sort of left him alone with some instructions
16:15
the main one being do not bond with
16:17
the symbiote which was obviously the first thing
16:19
he did but
16:21
there is a level of neglect here
16:23
that we can't sort of we've been
16:25
sort of skirting past it but it's
16:28
getting to the point now where like
16:30
Dylan cannot ignore it anymore so
16:33
this is sort of we're building up to
16:35
the big one with and
16:37
as I said like that it's the beginning
16:40
is this crossover this is the
16:42
point where Dylan sort
16:45
of understands and sees the
16:48
entire picture for the first time
16:52
and this is the thing
16:54
that sort of push the
16:56
conflict ahead it makes
16:58
sense it does and it
17:01
will make sense when folks go out and make
17:03
sure you pick up issue number
17:05
one and issue number two
17:08
of carnage but also catch
17:10
up on venom because
17:12
it's gonna get messy in the
17:15
best way make sure you catch
17:17
this thrilling new crossover between two
17:19
of our favorite symbiote baddies carnage
17:21
and venom starting in March with
17:24
venom number 31 and carnage number
17:26
five wonderful animation news
17:28
for everybody out there because Marvel's
17:30
moon girl and double dinosaurs roaring
17:33
back for season two it's gonna
17:35
be very excited of course this
17:37
is the Disney branded televisions Emmy
17:40
Award nominated Marvel's moon girl
17:42
in season two it's gonna debut a
17:44
season two on Friday February 2nd at
17:46
8 p.m. Eastern on Disney Channel and
17:48
Disney XD with two episodes and
17:51
then a batch of season two episodes will
17:53
be available February 3rd on Disney Plus and
17:55
the whole first season is now available to
17:57
stream on Disney Plus What
18:00
if? Hmm. Hmm. It's
18:03
a question I ask myself every day. And you know
18:05
what? It's a question we're
18:07
all going to be able to celebrate
18:09
very soon because Marvel Studios' new
18:11
season of What If, she
18:14
coming. Mm-hmm.
18:16
So I'm really excited because
18:18
filmmakers, press, and special guests
18:20
gathered earlier this week at
18:22
the Walt Disney Studios lot to screen
18:25
not one but two all-new episodes of
18:27
season two of Marvel Studios' What If.
18:30
It is arriving for all the rest of us
18:33
common folk on
18:35
Disney Plus on December 22nd. I'm
18:38
joking. We're all very special with new
18:40
episodes that are going to be arriving
18:43
every single night
18:46
for nine days. Happy
18:49
holidays. For
18:52
the special screening though, it was
18:54
actually introduced by executive producer Brad
18:56
Winterbaum, head of streaming television
18:58
and animation for Marvel Studios. And it was followed
19:00
by a Q&A with
19:02
filmmakers, including director and executive
19:05
producer Brian Andrews, writer and
19:07
executive producer A.C. Bradley, and
19:09
writer, producer Matthew Chauncey, kind
19:12
of coming in and talking about where this season is going
19:14
to go. And as a surprise
19:17
for those in the room, Winterbaum shared a
19:19
sizzle reel highlighting three of the
19:21
studio's upcoming animated series. Hell
19:24
yeah. Reaching Eyes of Wakanda, which
19:27
was revealed for the first time throughout
19:29
Wakanda history, brave warriors have been
19:31
tasked to travel the world, retrieving
19:34
dangerous, vibrating artifacts. This
19:36
is a story. That's how I
19:38
imagine I would read it. And
19:40
obviously, you
19:43
could not have done
19:45
this without doing a
19:47
little X-Men 97 and your friendly neighborhood
19:53
Spider-Man, previously titled Spider-Man
19:55
Freshman Year, was
19:57
also part of the lineup featured.
20:00
Dive into the multiverse with
20:02
What If, Season 2, and
20:04
a all-new episode every single
20:07
day starting on December 22nd.
20:10
Angelique, we were just talking about Marvel
20:12
Studios' X-Men 97, and I also want
20:14
to talk about some action figures from
20:17
Hasbro. So how about we marry the
20:19
two with a whole new wave of
20:21
Marvel Legends figures inspired by the series?
20:23
A bunch of figures in this wave
20:25
include Magneto with the big
20:28
M on his chest. Oh,
20:30
I love that look so much. Nightcrawler,
20:33
Jean Grey, Goblin Queen, which is awesome, different
20:35
from the one that you might have seen
20:37
a couple years ago
20:39
that Hasbro had teased out. This one is
20:41
very cool. It's based on the appearance in
20:43
X-Men 97. Goblin
20:45
Queen even comes with a little baby
20:47
Nate. Oh, so cute. An executioner
20:49
figure? Y'all, if you've never read executioner's
20:52
first appearance in the comics, it's a
20:54
banger. It's from an annual. It's real
20:56
good. It's a great, great, great
20:58
look for this character coming in
21:01
X-Men 97, as well as Cyclops.
21:03
He's got his little Force Blast
21:05
accessory looking fantastic.
21:08
This series of figures will be available for pre-order
21:10
in early 2024. In
21:12
other Marvel Legends news, during the
21:15
Hasbro Pulse fan stream yesterday, the
21:17
Marvel Legends team revealed a bunch
21:19
of other figures set
21:21
to debut in 2024. And
21:24
these included four different
21:27
Wolverine two-packs celebrating the hero's
21:29
50th anniversary. These two-packs
21:32
included some incredible
21:34
pairs, Brood Wolverine and
21:36
LeLandra, Marvel's Logan and
21:38
Sabretooth, Wolverine and Psylocke,
21:41
and Patch and Joe Fix It.
21:43
But also they revealed a classic
21:45
angel, Sam Wilson, Captain America
21:47
with Wings, which is a Target exclusive,
21:51
and Evil Captain America,
21:53
which is a Walmart exclusive. So make
21:55
sure you're checking out and watching out
21:57
for those brand new pieces coming out.
22:00
out next year. Angelique, it's
22:02
so far away. You know
22:04
what, Ryan, it is. But in the meantime,
22:07
we got comics on comics on comics because a
22:10
year may be coming to an end, but
22:12
there are still stories to be told.
22:14
Yeah, we have a couple picks I
22:16
wanted to toss out there. First up,
22:18
Daredevil Gang War number one. We've talked
22:21
about this on the show recently with
22:23
writer Erica Schultz. Gorgeous Pencils
22:25
by Sergio Zabila. It
22:28
is Badass Brings a New Villain
22:30
into Daredevil, where Electra has to
22:32
not only take on the heat, which is this
22:35
group that she's been fighting and has been
22:37
popping up in the main Daredevil book,
22:39
but then there's this other character who
22:42
is awesome and kind of like takes
22:44
it to Electra in this episode, which
22:46
I was really into. Plus, you got
22:48
all the gang warreness. And so like,
22:50
I like how this touches on crossovers,
22:53
like tells you other perspectives of scenes
22:55
we see in other books, which is
22:57
always, always a blast. Perfection.
23:00
That's all I got. It's Brings
23:03
Perfection. Yeah. This week also has a bunch of,
23:06
it's got some cool starting points, but
23:08
also big endings. We've got Moon Knight number 30,
23:11
which I want to toss out as a pick, written
23:13
by Jed McKay, art by Alessandro
23:15
Capuccio, and colors by Rochelle Rosenberg.
23:18
And this is the one.
23:20
The issue is called the
23:22
terminal seconds of Moon Knight. And we've been like teasing. I
23:24
mean, we knew this was coming. Yeah. Like it was
23:26
like watching a train wreck. Yes.
23:28
But a pretty train wreck,
23:30
a well-drawn gorgeous train
23:33
wreck, because that's who Moon Knight
23:35
is. Yeah. And so
23:37
like, we
23:39
know there's a new Moon Knight coming soon. And
23:41
we know what that, what is coming in Vengeance of
23:43
the Moon Knight, but this is how it all
23:45
comes together. And it's some really emotional great beats towards
23:48
the end of this, where like, Moon
23:50
Knight has gone through this gauntlet, gauntlet,
23:52
ahh, it's chaos and craziness. And then
23:55
how it all shakes out. And then who's
23:58
there to pick up the pieces afterwards? the
24:00
last page of this, so rad.
24:02
I love this book and I think this
24:04
is a great way to wrap up this
24:07
volume to lead us into what's next, which
24:09
is not far off. We don't have to
24:11
wait too long. And then
24:14
another, I believe this might be the
24:16
last issue, or at least it's the
24:18
end of a big storyline for X-Men
24:20
Red number 18. It is written by
24:22
Al Ewing, art by Ildaray Sinar, Colours
24:25
by Federico Bly. This is Storm
24:30
taking the stand, fighting
24:32
Genesis, the apocalypse's partner,
24:37
life partner if you will, who has come
24:39
and has been corrupted and is
24:41
trying to take over Araco
24:43
and it is awesome. There's
24:45
big massive fights of giant
24:48
kaiju-sized islands battling each other,
24:51
maybe hugging, who knows, we'll
24:53
see. There's plenty
24:56
of sadness in
24:58
here and death and sacrifice
25:00
and heroism and storm. If
25:04
you have not been reading X-Men Red and you
25:06
are a stormman, I'll get your
25:08
butt on this. It is so good. So
25:11
good. I think it
25:13
is time for us to take a
25:15
break first, but do not go
25:17
anywhere. We're going to be right back because we're going
25:19
to be talking our Marvel holiday
25:21
gift guide. We'll be right back. Welcome
25:34
back. You're listening to This Week in Marvel. I'm
25:36
Ryan Penagos. I am Angelique
25:38
Rocher and this is it. This
25:41
is what you've been waiting for. Yeah, we
25:44
are getting into the Marvel
25:46
holiday gift guide with marvel.com
25:48
Associate Editor Megan Damore talking
25:50
about a whole bunch of picks that she's put
25:52
up, some picks from Angelique and I, and
25:56
it's fun. A lot of gift ideas. It's not
25:58
too late, but you know, know what, let's
26:00
get into it, our holiday
26:02
gift guide spectacular right now.
26:08
Angelique, I'm excited to talk about
26:10
gifts and we have to do
26:13
it with our resident marvel.com gift
26:15
expert, Megan Damore. Hello, Megan. Hi,
26:18
Ryan. Hi, Angelique. How are you guys today?
26:21
So pretty good. Thanks for being here. Of
26:23
course, happy to be here. Megan,
26:25
you are the person who shepherds
26:28
all the amazing gift
26:30
guides that we have on marvel.com so
26:32
it feels super appropriate to
26:34
have you on here. Can you help
26:36
us come up with some really great
26:39
gift ideas of all kinds of all
26:41
price ranges and age ranges and maybe,
26:43
Angelique, you and I can throw in
26:45
some to sprinkle in from our own
26:47
hearts. Well, as a
26:49
matter of fact, I have gone and picked out
26:51
a few of my favorite items from
26:54
Marvel. It's like she just put it into a computer and
26:56
it just happened. So
26:58
I'm going to get us started actually by talking
27:00
about the Lego Avengers Tower, which is so cool.
27:03
It is 35.5 inches tall, which is like two
27:05
feet tall of Legos. Almost
27:12
three. That's the size of a
27:14
toddler. Also, Ryan can't stop talking about it
27:16
either. So well done, Megan. And I
27:18
was leaning into the Ryan of... Oh, wait. I wanted to get
27:21
where you leaning... Were you leaning into
27:23
the tower? Sorry. I'll see myself
27:25
out. Bye, Angelique.
27:27
See you later. That
27:29
was fast. So
27:31
this Lego Avengers Tower
27:33
set comes with 5,201 pieces in 31 minifigures.
27:39
And these are minifigures from all across
27:42
the Marvel Cinematic
27:44
Universe timeline. So we've got Iron
27:47
Man, Wong, Captain America, Thor,
27:49
Ant-Man, Black Widow, Nick Fury,
27:51
Hulk, War Machine, Vision, Hawkeye,
27:53
Wanda Maximoff, Wasp. So we're talking
27:55
like every single era of the
27:58
Marvel Cinematic Universe. So cool. which
28:00
is super cool. In my brain, audibly,
28:02
it was you just making that list, and then
28:04
10 minutes later,
28:06
and hops. We
28:09
would need 10 minutes by listed, all
28:11
31 of them. That's
28:14
amazing. But it's also not just
28:16
the figurines, right? It's not just the
28:18
figurines. We've got like little props and stuff
28:20
too from across this Marvel Cinematic
28:23
Universe timeline. We've got a
28:25
quinjet, we have some Chitauri chariots, like
28:28
the tesseract, Thor's hammer, the
28:30
pager that Nick Fury used to summon Captain Marvel
28:33
and Avengers and the
28:44
game. I'm sorry, did you say there's
28:46
a pager? There is a pager. What kid doesn't want a pager?
28:48
I mean, Aja Leek and I are probably the only people here
28:50
who had pagers, because I definitely remember them. Sure.
28:54
Including the one Nick Fury has. I love
28:56
it. We did a really great behind the
28:58
scenes chat about this gargantuan
29:02
toy set, amazing piece of
29:04
conversation that anybody who has
29:06
it in their house or
29:08
wherever. So if you haven't listened
29:10
to that yet, go check it out from one of our most
29:12
recent episodes. But that's probably the most
29:14
premium, incredible gift one can give or receive.
29:17
It's a piece of architecture. It really is.
29:19
It's a piece of architecture. And it's a
29:21
fun project to do with the ones you
29:23
love over the course of probably like several
29:27
weeks. I was going to say, I feel
29:29
like that requires some teamwork. Yeah. Yeah.
29:32
Yeah. Well, I gotta say, that's great. But
29:34
in the line of toys, Megan, I
29:36
know also on your list, and
29:39
for anyone who knows me, they know the
29:41
next word is going to be fun because
29:43
it's Funko. And there's so many Funkos on
29:46
this list, Megan. My
29:49
heart, because in particular, there were three that
29:51
I fell in love with because you can
29:54
never choose just one Funko, says
29:56
the several hundred in my house. May
30:00
Day, which I know is an exclusive at Hot
30:02
Topic. Obie,
30:04
literally the standout from
30:06
Marvel Studios, Loki
30:09
season two, has
30:11
his own Funko. It's so cute.
30:14
And for us old,
30:16
surly, X-Men
30:19
heads, our sweet,
30:21
sweet, sweet, sweet boy,
30:23
Wolverine, has his
30:25
own snow vinyl Funko.
30:28
And it's covered in snow. Just in time for
30:30
the holidays too. Just in time for snow season.
30:33
He's perfect. Yeah. Well,
30:35
let's move us right along into the next
30:37
item on my list, which
30:40
is the Spider-Man cozy family
30:42
matching sleepwear collection, which again,
30:44
perfect for this time of year
30:46
when we're sending out Christmas cards and
30:48
everybody's wearing matching pajamas. And
30:51
why not make it spider themed?
30:53
It includes a two piece sleep
30:55
set for men, women, and kids.
30:57
And the coordinating assortment features Spider-Man
30:59
applique and an all over plaid
31:01
pattern and Spidey's signature colors. I
31:04
love this so much. As
31:07
a family who loves matching
31:09
pajamas during the holiday seasons,
31:11
I am going to
31:13
be putting this in my cart and buying it for
31:15
the family ASAP. Also
31:17
for those who will be looking for
31:19
this, and for all of the gifts that we're going
31:22
to be talking about today, you can make sure that
31:24
you check out the show notes. We'll
31:26
make sure that you too can have the level of
31:28
joy that we have right now talking about our favorite
31:31
things. Speaking of, sometimes, Ryan, you
31:33
got to go get moving. Which
31:35
is great because I wanted to make
31:38
sure everybody thinks about a Marvel Move
31:40
subscription. You can have it as a
31:42
gift for yourself or for someone who wants to kick off
31:44
the new year in a very healthy way. You
31:46
walk, run, jog, move however
31:48
you want to Marvel storytelling
31:50
and a whole bunch of
31:52
interactive audio adventures. It
31:55
is a whole bunch of fun. We have
31:57
more stories, more episodes added every week. Our
31:59
Daredevil story. It's just about to start really
32:01
soon and that one's pretty pretty fun pretty
32:03
gnarly It's got black widow in it and
32:06
bullseye and a bunch of surprises We have
32:08
tons more coming in 2024 as we go
32:10
through those And
32:13
so if you go to ZRX app
32:15
slash gift slash Marvel You can get
32:17
gift subscriptions for six months or a
32:19
year and I love it because
32:21
we also made it so you can buy
32:24
two subscriptions One for yourself
32:26
one for someone you love and you can
32:28
move together And in fact, I feel
32:30
like we all need a little inspiration Right
32:32
like we need someplace to find the hero that
32:34
we're meant to be and as a
32:36
matter of fact We have a little book like that for
32:39
our younger readers That
32:41
would be the Marvel's the hero
32:43
I'm meant to be which is
32:46
written by Pamela Bobowitz and illustrated
32:48
by Alexander Varbosa it's a little
32:50
hardcover for for kids ages four
32:52
to eight and this stars the
32:54
stars of the Marvel's So
32:57
we've got Captain Marvel in there. We've
32:59
got Monica Rambeau. It's miss Marvel I wish
33:01
we there was a visual component of this
33:03
podcast so I could show you how cute
33:05
the Illustrations on this book are they
33:07
are just absolutely adorable Yeah,
33:11
but we also have other books like if you
33:13
want books with mostly words,
33:15
how about your next pick? Yes,
33:18
this next pick is for adults That's
33:20
for sure and it might sound a
33:23
little familiar if you've seen Ant-Man and the
33:25
Wasp of Quantum Media So
33:27
this book is titled look out for the
33:29
little guy and this is in fact the
33:31
memoir that Ant-Man
33:33
wrote in Ant-Man and the Wasp of
33:36
Quantum Media, but we've made it a reality. So
33:38
this is 224
33:40
pages of Ant-Man story 224
33:44
pages of Scott Lang it sure
33:46
is And this is
33:48
his version of events From
33:50
his adventures and the MCU so
33:53
far. So it is a delightful
33:56
little novel of Scott Lang's Life
33:59
and Time Love it.
34:01
That is definitely MCU vibes
34:03
right there. But we also
34:05
I wanted to toss out
34:07
another MCU book which is
34:09
Marvel Studios the Marvel Cinematic
34:11
Universe an official timeline by
34:13
Anthony Bresnikin, Amy Ratcliffe and
34:15
Rebecca Theodore Vachon. And we
34:18
had them on the show also recently talking
34:21
about the book so if you missed that
34:23
go find it one of our recent episodes.
34:25
But I actually have it on my bookshelf
34:27
here at the Marvel offices. It's a great
34:30
resource. It's fun. It's full of tidbits, great
34:32
art. It is one of those things where you're
34:35
gonna go back to like all the
34:37
time especially if you just like have a hankering
34:39
to go watch one of the movies in the
34:41
MCU canon you're gonna then go back to the
34:43
book and be like oh
34:45
right and you start seeing new things and
34:48
learning new things and it's just
34:50
fun. Here's the thing I feel like that
34:52
was a lot of books right? Yeah. That's a lot
34:54
of books we just said. So I
34:56
feel like we might need something to carry all
34:58
those books around in. So I want to talk
35:00
a little
35:02
bit about the Weapon X
35:04
backpack that is part of
35:06
the Heroes and Villains collection. I
35:09
love their latest X-Men collection.
35:11
It's so good. I had
35:13
a very difficult time
35:15
narrowing down what I wanted to share
35:17
from this particular collection but I had
35:19
to say it had to be the
35:21
Weapon X backpack. I feel like it
35:23
could be a perfect gift for the X-Men fan
35:25
in your life. It could be for a man,
35:28
a woman, a kid. Anybody in
35:30
the family would be thrilled to have this Weapon
35:32
X backpack which can fit up to a
35:34
17-inch laptop. So that's a pretty
35:36
sizable sizable bag and
35:38
it comes with so many pouches. So I
35:41
got one at New York Comic Con and
35:43
has it immediately became my daily backpack. I
35:46
take it to and from the office. I
35:49
will be honest with you, I'm not always
35:51
the brightest bulb on the ceiling
35:54
and only two weeks
35:56
ago did I realize as I was holding it
35:58
on my lap on the to the
36:01
office and said, wait, what's this zipper?
36:03
I thought I had found all the
36:05
compartments. And I unzipped
36:07
it and said, oh, there's
36:09
a dedicated space for the laptop, which
36:12
is separate from everything else. And it
36:14
like elevated the bag even
36:16
higher up. It is an incredible bag.
36:18
It carries so much stuff. It
36:21
is, I love it. I'm
36:23
literally wearing an Avengers sweater from
36:25
Heroes and Villains right now. They
36:27
make kind of all my
36:30
favorite things ever. They
36:32
also make a bunch of Japanese
36:34
Spider-Man, like Superman stuff. I
36:37
love them, they're the best. Look,
36:40
I agree. But for those of
36:43
us who also love fashion, I got a
36:45
shout out. There's a couple other things on
36:47
lists that have to do with clothing,
36:50
speaking of sweater. So
36:53
anybody knows me, I'm a casual closet
36:55
cosplay girl. I
36:57
have to caveat, there is
37:00
a lot of incredible fashion,
37:02
particularly out there for your, I
37:06
would say teens, pre-teens, folks who
37:08
like showing their fandom every single
37:10
day, who may
37:12
not be full fledged cosplayers, or
37:14
maybe and just wanna be stylish
37:16
on a Saturday. But
37:18
in particular, our
37:20
universe and her universe did
37:23
some amazing, amazing stuff with
37:25
some of the latest releases,
37:27
including our universe
37:29
low-key TVA double-breasted coat,
37:32
which is amazing. There's also
37:34
the shirt I have on right
37:37
now, which is the Our Universe,
37:39
the Marvel's flurkin' split woven button-up.
37:41
What that really means is it's
37:44
a button-up flurkin' shirt that has
37:48
tentacles and cats and flurkitties and it's
37:50
everything. I actually wore
37:52
it to the fan event for Marvel Studios and
37:54
Marvels and it was a hit. But
37:57
also, shout out. to
38:00
my favorite girl, her universe, Marvel
38:03
Studios, the Marvels, Photon, girls
38:05
hoodie with matching leggings. You
38:07
can literally dress like Monica
38:10
Rambeau every day of your
38:12
life. I've already did.
38:14
I have it. It's currently on sale. Go
38:18
get it. Like, I think it's the, you should give
38:20
it to everyone. Listen,
38:22
Angelique, I am also a hoodie girl. And
38:25
so I made sure to include one on my list
38:27
as well. So I have the
38:29
Go Spider pullover hoodie from
38:31
Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse. You
38:34
can feel like Spider-Gwen. You can feel like Go
38:36
Spider by wearing this sweatshirt
38:39
with bold color blocking and the pink
38:41
web pattern and the pink lined hoodie that
38:43
Go Spider made famous. And
38:46
it comes in kid sizes too. So you can
38:48
find these both on shopdisney.com. And
38:51
they are good for anybody in your life.
38:54
Anybody who feels particularly drawn to Across
38:56
the Spider-Verse, Into the Spider-Verse,
38:58
or just the spider heroes
39:00
in general. We do
39:03
have a wonderful array of spider people.
39:05
Like we have two Spider-Men in Marvel
39:07
Spider-Man 2. I
39:09
had to include this y'all because it's
39:12
so good. The game is amazing. It
39:14
is available exclusively on PlayStation. You can
39:16
buy the physical version of the game.
39:18
You can buy a digital version. There's
39:20
a whole bunch of versions of the
39:22
digital version. If
39:25
you don't have a PlayStation 5 yet,
39:27
you can get the bundle which comes
39:29
with the game and the console. There
39:31
are like color
39:34
versions of the frame
39:36
for the PlayStation. There's the PlayStation
39:39
DualSense controller that
39:41
is themed from the
39:44
game. There's a bunch of different ways to celebrate
39:46
Marvel Spider-Man 2. Or just like
39:48
play the damn game. Feel all the emotions.
39:52
See what happens when Kraven and Venom fight.
39:54
It's a whole thing. You'll laugh. You'll
39:56
cry. Exactly. third
40:00
playthrough. I
40:03
recommend the Deluxe version
40:05
for the additional suit. That
40:07
game is fun for
40:09
the whole family. It is
40:11
something that everyone could do
40:13
together. But Ryan, I
40:17
gotta say some
40:20
people aren't video game people.
40:22
So maybe they like something
40:24
more tangible. Well,
40:26
do I have a tangible gift
40:29
for you? So we have
40:31
the Marvel Tarot deck and guide book,
40:33
which includes 78 Tarot cards
40:35
with that are illustrated by Lily
40:37
McDonald. And now all of these
40:40
cards feature Marvel characters. So that's
40:43
anyone including Loki, Galactus, Captain
40:45
Marvel, Moon Knight. There's, there's
40:47
two group cards, two group
40:50
cards, two group cards in
40:52
there, but they're absolutely gorgeous.
40:55
The guide book, actually, if you are
40:58
a novice, you've never done this
41:00
before. It's something you kind of want
41:02
to learn about. It's actually really, really
41:04
informative. There's different ways that you can
41:06
lay the cards out. There's explanations of
41:09
all the cards. And there was a
41:11
lot of love that went into particularly
41:13
choosing certain characters for certain cards. And
41:15
like even as I said, there's two
41:17
group cards, but it's group at two
41:20
different like evolutions. So it's like baby
41:22
group group. But yeah,
41:24
so it does feature the major and
41:26
minor arcana for those who know how
41:29
that works. Obviously the major being these,
41:32
these big shifts. And the minor
41:34
kind of looking at very specific
41:36
questions and ideas, depending on what
41:38
your philosophy is when it comes
41:40
to Terra. They
41:42
also come in this beautiful decorative gold
41:45
gift box. It's
41:48
gorgeous. So I would suggest
41:50
pairing this gift with
41:53
this gorgeous marble glass set that
41:55
has the Avengers logo. Now we'll
41:57
also say there's a Thor one.
42:00
And there's a Deadpool one. I'm
42:02
to say my name starts with an A and
42:04
I'm always going to go with Avengers when
42:07
it comes to giving gifts. It's
42:09
a collective gift set of two glasses,
42:12
absolutely gorgeous to
42:15
put whatever beverage you cold
42:17
beverage that you choose in
42:19
them. You know what
42:21
else goes great with beverages? Reading.
42:24
And we haven't really touched on the
42:26
most important thing a human can read
42:28
which is comic books, Marvel comic books.
42:30
Megan what do you have to say
42:32
about some Marvel comics? Well
42:34
first let me say I wanted to end on a
42:37
strong note. So this is my other
42:39
favorite item on the list being
42:42
the Marvel Unlimited subscription. And
42:45
wouldn't you know we're having a holiday
42:47
sale for a Marvel Unlimited subscription. Now
42:49
this is kind of like the
42:51
streaming service of comics, right? And
42:54
like I said Marvel Unlimited is currently
42:57
having a sale. So if you sign
42:59
up between now and January 4th you
43:02
can buy a year long subscription
43:04
for $55 with the code HOLIDAY23. And
43:10
this will also include a digital bundle of
43:12
director's cuts of comics and those comics are
43:15
Ultimate Invasion number one, the Hellfire Gala
43:17
from this year, Sins of Sinister number
43:19
one, Death of the Venoverse number one,
43:22
and Captain America Cold War Alpha number
43:24
one. The other awesome thing that I know a
43:26
lot of fans use it for is to kind
43:28
of read a whole bunch of books and test
43:30
a bunch of books and then oh I
43:33
read this and I really like it. I'm going to
43:35
go buy the trade paperback or the hardcover so
43:38
I can read it without having to worry
43:40
about like spending a whole bunch of money
43:42
upfront and then they can buy something that
43:44
they can have forever in a
43:47
print format later on. I think
43:49
that's a really fun way to
43:51
enjoy the comics. Yeah
43:54
and I feel like it's also accessible. It
43:56
also makes accessible comics that are more
43:58
difficult to find. in
44:01
a comic shop. Like I read all of Uncanny
44:04
X-Men on Marvel Unlimited
44:06
and I'm talking about going back to the
44:08
very beginning to the 60s through the 80s
44:11
and the 90s. You have the
44:13
entire or nearly the entire run
44:15
of Uncanny X-Men on
44:17
this one available to you whenever
44:19
you want. Megan you picked
44:21
a really good you
44:24
picked yeah no this is this is
44:27
a solid all-encompassing everybody should have this
44:29
in their stocking gift. Indeed. One
44:33
last thing we wanted to shout out is Marvel
44:36
HQ you know parents get your young
44:38
Marvel fan the gift of a subscription
44:40

about yours. But thanks, Megan. Thanks for having

46:11

a special thanks to marvel.com

46:21

46:26
we talked about is going to be down there.
46:28
So you can specifically go and check it out.
46:30
But also, check out
46:32
Marvel.com's Marvel holiday gift
46:35
guide. We've got it broken down to
46:37
make sure that you
46:39
can find the coolest, bestest,
46:41
most amazing things for
46:44
your loved ones, or yourself, or
46:46
yourself. Because I might have bought myself something during
46:49
that conversation. Fair
46:52
enough. All right, let's
46:54
get into our community section, AKA This
46:57
Week in Messages and TF, an upcoming
46:59
question of the week. What Marvel things
47:02
are you most excited for in 2024? Could
47:06
be comics, could be a film,
47:09
could be something on Disney Plus, could be
47:11
a toy, could be a surprise,
47:14
could be a convention. Who knows?
47:16
What are you excited about, Ren? I
47:20
am excited for possibilities.
47:24
I'm also very much excited for
47:26
the big old Deadpool film coming
47:28
to big screens. Oh, yeah. I'm
47:31
excited for a lot of comic
47:33
stuff, from Blood Hunt to
47:36
all the things happening with the X-Men.
47:38
As an X-Men fan, for life, I
47:40
am jazzed. Well, I am
47:42
personally excited to finally give the world
47:45
My Superheroes Black, which is coming out
47:47
in 2024. I'm
47:49
excited for all the comic books. I'm
47:51
excited for all the Marvel's
47:53
Voices stuff that's coming, because I'm selfishly always
47:56
going to think about that. But also Marvel
47:58
Studios Echo coming out in January. I've
48:01
been literally at, if you
48:03
haven't seen that teaser trailer,
48:05
go watch it. So good. Um,
48:08
and then go read all of the echo comics you
48:10
can. Uh, but yeah, no,
48:13
I'm, it's going to be a good year. Heck
48:16
yeah. Uh, so again, we want to
48:18
know what Marvel things are you most excited for
48:20
in 2024? Tell us all,
48:22
tell us everything we want to know. You
48:25
can send your answers to us on
48:27
social media at the right Instagram, et
48:29
cetera. Uh, at agent M, um,
48:32
at onto the crochet or use the
48:34
hashtag this weekend. Marvel. It's still active
48:36
over on Twitter. You can send a
48:38
message to our Facebook page at facebook.com/this
48:41
weekend. Marvel. But the
48:43
best way is to email them to us at
48:45
twin podcast at marvel.com. Make sure to tell us
48:47
it is okay to read Twim on
48:50
the show. Love
48:52
it. Love it. Love it. And,
48:55
but in the meantime, we had a question of the week last week and
48:57
that question was what's
49:00
on your Marvel wish list
49:02
this year? Yeah,
49:04
Caroline Cosplay, uh, said,
49:06
my wish is to get another
49:09
Peach Momoko book with Psy as
49:11
the main character soon. That's
49:14
a, it's a great wish, Caroline.
49:16
I will say though, Peach is
49:18
working hard on the ultimate
49:21
X-Men comic. So I
49:23
think that's going to be the big thing for
49:26
Peach, at least for the foreseeable future.
49:29
Uh, Anne Mervine at
49:31
Mervine underscore Jean
49:33
said new comics for them,
49:36
which I love because it's
49:38
a picture of sweet, sweet
49:40
Wiccan and sweet, sweet Hulkling
49:42
at their wedding, getting their
49:44
kiss on and it's so
49:47
adorable. And the white tiger core said,
49:49
I want more white tiger content has
49:51
been very underused for a long time
49:54
outside of a few issues or comics.
49:57
Hey, one never knows white
49:59
tiger. one never does.
50:01
We've got an email from
50:04
our pal Caris. Don't
50:07
tell Tracy, my wife, but
50:09
I bought her the Lego Aventress Tower set
50:11
and I can't wait to see her face
50:13
when she opens it. I really hope she's
50:15
not listening to this. There
50:17
will be photos all over social media.
50:20
I'm also searching for the Nova trade
50:22
that came out earlier in the year
50:24
for her. I have a list
50:26
of Marvel Funko pops I want to buy, but
50:30
the one at the top it is
50:32
Princess Carol from the Marvels, but
50:34
sadly it's a US
50:36
exclusive. Sad face.
50:39
Maybe I'll get it for my birthday instead. Love to
50:42
all, Caris. Happy
50:44
holidays, Caris and Tracy. All right, those
50:46
are some great, great emails and messages.
50:48
Thank you all for sending some in
50:50
all year long. But oh, Ryan, we
50:52
have a gift for them. We do?
