Anwar is also currently assistant manager at National League side Aldershot Town and during his playing career was the first British Asian to captain a professional team in the UK. Is the fact that that is still the case in 2020 cause for concern? Is it that there are so few Asians playing in the EFL and National League system that there's no obvious pathway for young Asians to follow, or is it a cultural issue? Anwar talks passionately about his work to ensure that the British Asian community feels that football is inclusive and not exclusive.
