Base tip is boost your guitar resolution success.
1:26
Last week, which was last year, I talked about setting New Year's Guitar Resolutions.
1:33
I hope you're able to take a moment to choose your guitar goal to aim for in 2024.
1:41
If not, listen to last week's episode for Inspiration.
1:47
This week I'm continuing the resolution conversation to include strategies and tips so you'll actually
1:55
be able to successfully achieve your goal.
1:59
In this episode, I'll talk about ways to set yourself up for resolution success, including
2:06
some of my tips, recommendations, and the secret sauce to achieving your 2024 resolution.
2:16
First of all, I love to give a shout out to my listeners around the world, so this week
2:22
hello and thank you to those of you listening in Croatia, Hong Kong, Tunisia, Kazakhstan,
2:30
and Canada. Okay, let's face it, we typically start out the New Year with good resolution intentions,
2:40
but then it can be frustrating when the resolution we set doesn't happen.
2:45
However, don't fret, ha ha, I'm going to help you achieve your resolution with a simple
2:52
albeit important basic way to create and implement a reasonable and doable plan.
3:01
Back on January 13th, 2022, I released the episode called How to Boost Your New Year's Resolutions
3:11
Success. In the case of the year, the secret to achieving your guitar playing resolution.
3:17
In it, I talk about my easy method of setting a goal that you will be able to do.
3:25
It's truly that simple.
3:27
So I'm going to jump right into what I call the secret sauce.
3:33
Simplicity is the key.
3:36
I'm going to repeat that. The secret sauce is simplicity.
3:41
And more complicated, you make it the less likely you are to succeed.
3:46
So keep it simple.
3:48
In a nutshell, you should set one goal rather than say five.
3:55
Be specific about your goal.
3:58
Like learn the F-sharp minor chord rather than learn bar chords.
4:03
Set a completion date that's realistic for you.
4:07
Instead of say February 1st, set a completion date for June 1st.
4:13
Again, keep it simple. Keep it realistic.
4:17
Next you should map out a plan, including a reasonable and doable practice schedule.
4:24
And of course, resources to help you reach your goal.
4:28
Halfway through that completion timeframe, reassess your progress and plan.
4:34
What's working? What isn't working?
4:37
And make adjustments as necessary.
4:40
Now I go into greater detail about each of these steps in that January 13th episode.
4:47
Plus during the episode, I actually walk you through the steps one by one so you can set
4:53
up your successful action plan.
4:57
When you're listening to that episode, be sure to have handy a paper and pen or your
5:02
device for writing your plan.
5:13
