In addition to her success with What a Girl Wants and Meredith Brooks' smash hit Bitch, Shelly has written for and with The Pretenders, Miley Cyrus, Keith Urban, Britney Speaks, Selena Gomes, Demi Lovato, Mandy Moore, Plain White T's, Smash Mouth, Bebe Rexha, NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. Her music has been featured in TV and film including Big Little Lies, Orange is the New Black, The Blind Side, What Women Want, The Good Girl, Bring It On, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, EDtv, The Princess Diaries, A Walk to Remember, What a Girl Wants, The Lizzie Maguire Movie, Raising Helen, Bourne Identity and the teen favorite Disney's Descendants.

In 2021, she was voted Songwriter of the Year by Hollywood Music and Media and in 2023, was a She Rocks Award recipient.
