This is today's single Christian, and I'm Lena
0:05
Abu-Jamal. One of the huge advantages
0:08
of being an ER doctor is that I never
0:10
have to be on call when I'm at work, I
0:12
work, and when I'm home no one bothers me.
0:14
While that might be ideal in the medical
0:16
world, the truth is that many of us are trying
0:19
to live our Christian lives as if we're, er,
0:21
doctors. We are on when we say
0:23
we're on, and God forbid anyone bother us
0:25
when we're off. Have you noticed it? Most
0:27
of us are offended if we get dinner visitors uninvited,
0:29
and if someone needs our help, they better hope they
0:32
give us at least a week's notice to plan around it.
0:34
What amazes me about Jesus is that he
0:36
was always on call. Whether he was
0:38
tired or hungry, people felt the welcome
0:40
he always gave them. He never turned anyone
0:43
away and he never spoke a harsh word.
0:45
There might be a time and a place for er doctors,
0:47
but when it comes to loving others like Jesus
0:49
did, let's carry our pagers and always
0:51
be ready to answer. For more
