As a fan of musical theater who was born & raised in Utah, this podcast speaks to me on many levels! I still have lots of episodes to look forward to, but I've listened to enough to already know I absolutely love K & Warren (and Latte!). Their discussions are entertaining and informative, whether or not I've seen the musical in question.Think the format of The Dollop meets musicals, then go ahead and realize it's even better than that.
The black history theme drew me in and now I can't wait to go through the backlog. As someone whose musical knowledge goes up to whatever I've seen as a movie, listening to this gives me a new appreciation and seeking out new experiences
Tone Deaf: A Theatre Nerd's Guide for their Musically Challenged SpouseK is amazing and should be appreciated by all! The BHM episodes were a great change of pace and K really flexes her teacher muscles in filling in some of the GAPING HOLES in America's black history. …
Having been in the Theatre for 12 years, I'm so glad that this show exists <3
Tone Deaf: A Theatre Nerd's Guide for their Musically Challenged SpouseThank you! K works very hard to create a well researched platform for me to degrade with my 12 year old sense of humor.
K and Warren are awesome. I am not the biggest musical nerd by any stretch of the imagination. So that has made this show not only highly entertaining but also educational. K does a wonderful job giving the listener a rundown of important details about each episodes chosen musical. Then we follow that with Warren's always off the wall feelings and thoughts on the musical. Even if you are not all that into musicals you owe to yourself to listen to this. You will laugh so hard you will cry.
Tone Deaf: A Theatre Nerd's Guide for their Musically Challenged SpouseThank you Rayland Rukmorse! We both absolutely adore you and are super happy you've thrown your hat into the podcasting ring! Raymond's show 5and30withRuk is GREAT!
The title says it all! A loving couple, K and Warren, go through musicals together from the popular to the obscure. Together, the hosts discuss the history of the musical, watch the show, summarize it, sing it, and critique it.
As a musical theater kid myself - this show is a brilliant combination of nostalgia, fannish evangelism, and true appreciation of an art form that was a defining part of my coming-of-age. It is in turns, charming, funny, winsome, and deep.
Tone Deaf: A Theatre Nerd's Guide for their Musically Challenged SpouseThank you Eddie! but you left out my (Warren) wonderful and profound sense of humor. It's ok, I'll let it slide, but only because you're writing and acting is amazing and your show makes both K and I…
I'm a huge musical theatre fan and recently have found myself less connected to the art form. Enter Tone Deaf, which gives me a wonderful POV look at one of my favorite things through the eyes of joyful, humorous, lovely people. Every episode puts a smile on my face and I highly recommend you let it do the same to you!
This show is really fun. K is super knowledgeable on music and theatre and musical theatre and it's really very impressive. K also does these fun little deep dives behind each musical before the each show. Oh, and K also has an AWESOME singing voice, which gets pulled out from time to time. :) Warren is just hilarious. His dick jokes always get me and I find myself rolling my eyes and giggling even when I'm trying not to. Also their relationship is so sweet because you can tell that they're just really good together and supportive and I love it! <3
Tone Deaf: A Theatre Nerd's Guide for their Musically Challenged SpouseThank you Alix! I agree K's voice is totes amaze balls and if I could tie her up, stick a mic in her face and force her to sing for my pleasure, I would... *has a thought*I need to go... do... a pro…
