An introduction to the performance art group COUM Transmissions, with an extended rant on the nature of publicly funded art. COUM Transmissions was founded in 1969 by future members of Throbbing Gristle, the band that coined the term “Industrial Music.” They influenced generations of musicians, and the members went on to pioneer many genres of alternative music. In 2017, their work was showcased at the Hull gallery. This podcast contains graphic descriptions of their onstage performances, which are NSFW and not for the faint of heart. It also contains a rant by the host on the nature of publicly funded art.
