Today I will be interviewing a remarkable pioneer in the field of community development - Steven Putter – a man with a big dream for the world. Steven founded IRDI – Imagine Rural Devleopment Initiative with one goal in mind – to ensure that every human being has access to fresh water, nutritious food and adequate shelter and what’s more he believes it is possible.

IRDI is determined to help people reverse dependence on foreign aid by initially working with a rural community of 6,000 people in Ngabwe Zambia to develop Africa’s first and largest self sustaining community.

By deploying innovative resource conservation methods such as permaculture, natural building and a tree that is so nutritious it is known in some circles as the Tree of Life, Putter knows that when people are inspired, anything is possible.

He believes that eradication of malnutrition and the potential to live productive lives can happen in Africa and other poverty stricken countries within two years.

Tune in to find out how this tiny community in the heart of Zambia is set to become a showcase that will teach the world there is another way and how to go about it.
