Dean Burnett is a neuroscientist working as a lecturer and tutor for the Centre for Medical Education at Cardiff University  and dabbles in stand-up comedy. He then began combining science and comedy to write humorous takes on topical science stories. This eventually resulted in a regular blog on the Guardian. His Brain Flapping blog there has over 13 million readers.
