This week, we spoke to Shui Fier, a creative living in NYC who dabbles in stand up comedy, storytelling, filmmaking, songwriting, and so much more. He tells us how he started out in the world of performing, and when his creative roots began to grow. Songwriting was his first love, and has taken him many different places since. He reveals where the inspiration for his material comes from, how he works through stage fright, and how he manages the pain of a bad comedy set. We were lucky enough to hear a couple of the jokes he uses for his standup, including hilarious material relating to his Jewish identity. He shares his tips for getting into comedy in New York, as well as his writing plans for the near future. We delve deeper into his style of songwriting, and how spontaneity, romance, and personal experience come into play when he writes new songs. We end the episode with an awesome performance of one of Shui’s original songs, ‘Manhattan.’ Of course, Shui is our Kosh boy of the week, so if you liked what you heard, slide into those DMs.
