Listened to an episode on my app. It just happens to be on a topic that I have studied for years. Wow, the hosts got it so wrong. All the crimes you see from poor researchers are here. Cherry picking sources. Ignoring areas where the science isn’t clear yet, where even the experts on the cutting edge of that field have clarified many known unknowns. Presenting what they know as the “easy and clear answers” from one side of the literature when the reality is much more nuanced. The hosts are the type of people that would have run an episode calling Multiple Sclerosis a manifestation of hysteria in 1800, if they had their podcast back then. This would have been the mainstream view of “scientists” at the time, until autopsies in the 1830s showed plaques in the patients bodies that led to more research over the years led to a better understanding of the disease. Can you imagine telling a patient suffering from the horrors of MS symptoms “I’m an unbiased scientist and I’m the expert here, you need to stop getting sucked into the scams of the wellness industry and maybe just go see a therapist.” Well, you can have that experience if you listen to this podcast. (The true unbiased scientists of that time looked at autopsy results, noted plaques, and began the long journey of understanding the pathology of MS that continues to this day. RIP to all the MS patients of the 1800s that had to listen to constant BS, the same type of BS spewed on this podcast two centuries later.) In an age where environmental illness, allergies, and autoimmunity are on the rise, where we are quickly beginning to understand the limits of our knowledge on the immunity system, the connection between brain and gut health, and the connections between the health of our environment and our own health, these hosts are completely under-informed. Worse, they lack awareness of their knowledge deficits. Just as the ignorant doctors and scientists before them that dismissed MS, AIDS, cancer, and allergies as hysteria, punishments for sinners, or defects in the mind of the patient, these hosts glibly embrace the quick and easy answers industry is happy to provide to them. Chronic Lyme is not real. Mold toxins that are used in bioweapons research are not a problem if you are constantly exposed to them in your bathroom. These hosts perpetuate great harms done to the patients that are unlucky enough to have a poorly understood illness like chronic Lyme, mold toxicity, Long Covid, CFS, or many types of autoimmunity or environmental sensitivities that are so new as to not have cohesive labels or diagnostic criteria yet. This podcast is not worth your time if you are interested in actual unbiased science. Shame on the hosts for giving a clickbait title that is the polar opposite of the content they actually present.
